05.18.14 | I've had a pair of Shure SE535s for over a year, would highly recommend |
ArsMoriendi
05.18.14 | I keep seeing The Avalanches - Since I Left You on a bunch of lists and "Fronteir Psychiatrist" is awesome. So that settles it, I must check out this entire album! |
EJinHD
05.18.14 | I dunno how you feel about over ear headphones, but audio technica ATH m50s are great for their price. I love mine. I also use them with a Fiio e11 headphone amplifier. As for tips on maintaining your headphones I'm not sure how I can help you. I just try not to throw them around and I also don't listen to music on maximum volume. |
GmemberKills
05.18.14 | if you don't get some dr dre beats you aint cool
|
Sleaper
05.18.14 | ive gone through 8 pairs in 6 months. they are all so fucking faulty. so annoying. tried so many brands.
i had some philips ones that were OK. they lasted the longest. stay away from sony, panasonic |
Ryus
05.18.14 | ihihihihihihi |
climactic
05.18.14 | if youre sick of headphones constantly breaking, stop buying shitty headphones and invest in a good pair |
Judio!
05.18.14 | Just bought a pair of Audio Technia ATH-M50x and Im loving them passionately right now. |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | MuhNamesTyler Thanks for the recommendation, but those are really expensive so yeah I not gonna get those, but maybe I'll have more money when I'm older.
Ars yeah you should definitely check it out, it's a relaxing experience. I'd think you'd be happy to know that I've also been listening to a little bit of Ween or really just Ocean Man.
EJinHD That looks pretty cool, thanks for the rec! Also what's a headphone amplifier, and do you need one to go with the ATH m50s?
GmemberKills bitches love da beats |
GmemberKills
05.18.14 | Real talk though, I'm not much of a headphone enthusiast. I own 2 pairs of headphones some over ear sony's that sound good an have lasted for over 2 years and also some in ear skull candys that have lasted over a year.
They sound both great to me and were well under 40$ and i can say there durable.
If you have bad luck with headphones though, I'd recommend investing in some that have a removable cord so if they mess up or start cutting in an out you can just replace the cord instead of having to buy a new pair. |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | Sleaper I've done the same thing. I thought my new headphones would be different but alas it wasn't.
Ryus, FourthReich olleh!
clim I thought this time would be different ;-;
Judio! Good to know |
EJinHD
05.18.14 | A headphone amplifier allows you to get the most out your headphones in terms of detail, loudness, bass, mids, highs etc. So they're ideal. Even if you don't use an amp the m50s are still a nice sounding set of cans. |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | FourthReich wait beats are actually good but not for the price?
GmemberKills that removable cord thing is a great idea, I regularly wrap my headphone cord around my iPhone so it isn't all over the place so that might be my main problem. |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | EJinHD good to know, thanks! |
GmemberKills
05.18.14 | If you want some good inexpensive in ears headphones i'd really recommend getting a pair of those skull candys.
That sounds like that could be hurting your headphones, I wish i could recommend some good headphones with a detachable cord but I'm sure you could google and find a good pair. I know when i decide to finally invest in a good pair I'll be going that route. |
fallenbird
05.18.14 | AKG K240's are basically perfect. |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | Phones Agony I don't understand
FourthReich I just hate on beats because everyone seems to have them just because they are the popular thing right now. It just seems like the only thing that matters to beats owners is the logo not the sound quality. I have a hipster mentality with most things though honestly. Are any of the other headphones you've owned better than the beats? |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | GmemberKills I think I owned a pair of skull candy earbuds before and they only lasted a month or 2 so I think I'm gonna try something else. Yeah I'll probably get one with a detachable cord too, probably not for a while though.
fallenbird thanks for the rec! They aren't too expensive so I'll do some research on them.
Futures Thanks! They look pretty sweet too for the price. |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | PhonesAgony ooooooooooooooohhhhhh I get you. |
MuhNamesTyler
05.18.14 | Apple about to buy out Beats with that 3.2 BILLION
Wish I had some of that cake |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | FourthReich Okay, and thanks for the sarcasm? lol Honestly though I started to watch Modern Family season 1 and 2 and loved it and then when everybody started to talk about it I got turned off. So I'm can be a hipster sometimes, but yeah my musical taste is pretty mainstream. |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | MuhNamesTyler Damn Apple got cake. It's seems like a pretty smart move on Apple's part. |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | PhonesAgony okay friend!! I will look them up |
oltnabrick
05.18.14 | hihihihihihihihihihihi chrooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot m/m/m/m/m/mm teeth |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | Dexys Midnight Runners is more than a One Hit Wonder band guys. But Come on Eileen is the jammiest jam of all jams.
Olta hi |
oltnabrick
05.18.14 | olta! |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | olleh! oltna lol |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | My headphones are sad rn tbh |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | ;-; I seriously have to tilt my computer at a certain angle just to hear it normally. |
OwMySnauze
05.18.14 | Can't go wrong with Nixon |
Judio!
05.18.14 | Fuck skull candy. I guess you could do worse at their price range, but in my experience they have lasted like two months at best. |
Judio!
05.18.14 | And yeah, not that it has anything to do with headphones, but Sputnik needs to give more love to Dexys. |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | OwMySnauze can you be more specific please, I'm not seeing it on amazon. |
tommygun
05.18.14 | sennheisers are swee got phones and buds they both rock |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | Judio! Yeah Skull Candy was pretty bad or just as good as any other $20 headphones I've purchased. I really don't get why no one cares about Dexys on Sputnik. Their first 2 albums almost have 1,000 ratings on RYM. |
Judio!
05.18.14 | It's because everyone only cares about Eileen and never bothers to listen to their full LPs, which are actually damn good from what I've heard, or at least their debut. "Geno" is a classic. |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | tommygun nice, are the Sennheiser HD-360 PRO DJ Studio Style ones good?, b/c they are only $50 on amazon right now. |
Judio!
05.18.14 | Fuck it i'll review them, if I don't get around to it in a month please remind me |
qwe3
05.18.14 | koss portapros |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | Judio! yeah Too-Rye-Ay is fantastic. I hate that all most people know of the Dexys is Come on Eileen but at least its a fantastic song. I need to hear their debut and third album still. |
tommygun
05.18.14 | haven't tried them i got the hd-558s... user bigpleb has some like that they may even be hd-360s not 100% sure though
the hd-558s are great but can't really wear em around in public cos they're open back
best bet is to go to a shop and try some on if you can, read reviews, research etc etc |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | Judio! I was just thinking about asking you to review it a few minutes ago! Don't worry I'll definitely remind you.
qwe3 sweet those are definitely within my budget, how's the sound quality? |
qwe3
05.18.14 | sound quality is very good for the price, and they are foldable and comfortable. they are probably the best value headphones in terms of quality, portability and durability |
oltnabrick
05.18.14 | CHROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT |
fallenbird
05.18.14 | @Scottpilgrim: yeah AKG K240's are the headphones I have and I couldn't be happier. They also come with a jack addition so you can plug them into amps and other studio equipment. |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | tommygun alright I'll ask Pleb about them.
qwe3 How long have you had them.
fallenbird Nice to know thanks! Also how long have you been using them? |
qwe3
05.18.14 | errrrr 4 years? maybe? |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | qwe3 Woah! That's a long time especially for the price. I'm definitely considering them. |
qwe3
05.18.14 | if you're not worried about their looks, then they're a fantastic bet. can't go wrong really |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | Yeah, I don't really care much about how they look, so they seem really good. One last question which
exact model do you have? |
qwe3
05.18.14 | i have the on ear ones that aren't the KTC model |
qwe3
05.18.14 | they were like 55 bucks i think but in america theyre prob cheaper |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | Sweet, thanks! |
Nud
05.18.14 | I have Sennheiser CX 300-II in ear noise cancelling headphones. They are awesome and reasonably cheap. I put them through hell and they remain durable. Got no plans to change anytime soon |
JokineAugustus
05.18.14 | above comment x10. Can't go wrong with Sennheiser |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | Nud, JokineAugutus Thanks for the rec guys!, they look pretty good. And I also put my headphones through hell so durability is definitely a must. |
tommygun
05.18.14 | yep got the cx300ii too can confirm they rule |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | A lot of people seem to like the Sennheiser hhhhmmmm.... IDK what to pick...
Futures it does look pretty comfy, and it even comes with a detachable cable. It seems awesome. How long have you been using it? |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | Cool, thanks man. I like everything about it, except that it costs $
A detachable cable is a huge plus though. |
NightProwler
05.18.14 | I own some Bose which I'm more than happy with, in-ears.
Also, be careful of that "knob" on the wire (the one you can adjust the length of the two in-ears with) - if you keep it at the same place for too long (say, the bottom), it'll eventually knaw through one of the two wires. |
menawati
05.18.14 | Had some Shure in ear ones, mid-range model, replaced under warranty twice because went crackly, the
wires couldnt take the twisting I suppose, so ill never buy Shure again.
Grado is a good make for durability, I've had a pair of SR60's for years still going strong, just
upgraded to SR80i, really thick wires, basic modular design, sounds great with huge soundstage (but is
open back so only good for at home really as it leaks sound). http://www.whathifi.com/review/grado-
sr80i |
RTCW
05.18.14 | If you're getting through headphones that fast then you treat them like shit. My Dad has been using some Sennheisers for over 20 years and they still work perfectly and he even drops them or sits on the cord and pulls the headphones by accident. |
ExcentrifugalForz
05.18.14 | senns for me, have lasted over a year so far |
qwe3
05.18.14 | do not get bose ever |
Pheromone
05.18.14 | idk fella
but 4 is a classic |
scottpilgrim10
05.18.14 | NightProwler That doesn't sound too good, but I'm glad your happy with them.
menawati Thanks for the rec! the SR80i looks pretty good. Whenever I try the link it says that the page is not found lol.
RTCW yeah I probably do.
qwe3 why?
Pheromone I wouldn't go that far, but it is at least a 4.5. I need to listen to it a few more times though.
|
FigNewtns
05.18.14 | I've had my pair of senns for like 5 years now, sound quality is still as good as ever |
OwMySnauze
05.18.14 | Nixon the watch company. They came out with some decent headphones. Go to their website. |
qwe3
05.19.14 | Bose make overpriced, mediocre equipment. You can get similar quality headphones for waaaaay cheaper. just look up bose on audio websites.
they're a massive rip-off and the only reason they're popular is because they have very good marketing |
