09.19.14 | listening now. liking the overall sound so far. dat bass is phat. vox are too high in the mix for
my taste, but pop music isn't exactly my specialty lol. |
KriegdemKriege
09.19.14 | Thanks pedro! I think the bass turned out pretty great, especially on the second track. |
Judio!
09.19.14 | Cool, didn't know you made music! Will check it out soon. |
pedro70512
09.19.14 | Gave you a soundoff. Hope it's on target. |

09.19.14 | I'm smiling ear to ear right now, you just made my day. Thank you so much! It means a lot to us that you took the time to listen to it, and I'm so glad you liked it!
If you're curious, I'm the bassist/guitarist and the one that sings Life's Not So Bad. |

09.19.14 | Sweet, I'll check it out. |

09.19.14 | Glad I could help. I've got an album out that I've had to beg and plead people to listen to and rate so I know what it's like, haha. Good work, man. |
KriegdemKriege
09.20.14 | Thanks again. But yeah, it really sucks putting so much time, effort, and money into making something that you hope will make people happy, and then no one ends up listening to it.
My band's kind of at a disadvantage because we don't play shows. So nobody knows we exist, even though we constantly write and regularly release material. |
pedro70512
09.20.14 | I feel you there. I'm all the way down the totem pole on that one -- I play all the instruments so I literally cannot play live, and I live in the middle of nowhere so I can't recruit anyone. I swear to god I'm moving to California or at least Boston as soon as I'm out of college (hopefully in the next few weeks). |
KriegdemKriege
09.20.14 | That's rough. What are your goals, are you trying to end up a professional musician? My band is more of a hobby, but we still want people to listen to our stuff! That's why we make music, we want people to hear it. It sucks because even our friends usually don't give our music much of a chance. People listen to one or two songs and tell me they like it and then it's just forgotten. Lol I check the bandcamp stats; NOBODY downloads the album, nobody listens to all the songs. I just don't get it.
Not to rant or anything. Regardless of whether anyone hears it, we're still really proud of this album!
I'm going to give your music a listen later tonight by the way. |
pedro70512
09.20.14 | Plan A was to become a rock star. That hasn't worked out so basically I just want to know that somebody enjoys it. Wintherr would be the goal, haha. My job is writing reviews/interviews/photography so I get pretty close to it all as it is. Ya man I get you, rant away. It's frustrating.
Aw, you're too sweet, haha. It's Taravana. First album was sort of a WTF because I recorded it without ever having heard it. I made half the album up during the recording takes and had a total of 52 hours in the studio to record, mix, and master it. |
Xar
09.20.14 | not bad, rather typical alternative pop rock. i can see others digging it pretty hard. the lyrics aren't bad just a bit generic. not that i could write better, writing lyrics is hard. :/ |
KriegdemKriege
09.20.14 | Xar, thanks for checking it out. I can see your point about the generic lyrics, but I'm actually pretty happy with the lyrics on most of the songs. We've gotten much better at writing, and our new material (written since this album) is really focused on lyrics. We're going to move away from love songs, we've done enough of those.
@ Pedro, I'm not just saying this because you were nice to me; your album is really solid. I listened to it 4 times in a row. "The Irons" is a fantastic song, and your vocals are great. My only criticism is that the production isn't the best, but that's completely understandable. The songs are professional quality. Looking forward to the next album. |
KriegdemKriege
09.20.14 | Did you make up The Irons during the recording, or was that one already written? |
Funeralopolis
09.20.14 | kind of generic but enjoyable so far, vocals are too high in mix doe |
pedro70512
09.20.14 | @Krieg - thank you! I'm so glad you liked it. I mean, all the songs were written on piano and drums
but I had to figure a lot out on the fly - the strings, synth, guitar tracks, pieces that suddenly
didn't work, etc. great learning experience though. I've got a three song teaser up for the new one
on bandcamp. |
pedro70512
09.20.14 | haha and I wouldn't say I was being nice. I just say it how it is. |
KriegdemKriege
09.20.14 | Do you guys really think the vocals are high in the mix compared to other pop albums? I've never heard that criticism before. Since the music is generally just chords, I thought it was a good thing that the vocals are prominent. |
pedro70512
09.20.14 | *sits quietly and twiddles thumbs* |
KriegdemKriege
09.20.14 | Lol
Well, it's something we'll keep in mind for the next release. We're probably going to do a 4-6 song EP over the winter.
I'll ask some other people for feedback about the vocals. |
