I want to actively avoid ever having this ailment as not only would it be truly unbearable as someone who enjoys silence but as a music lover it would also probably ruin my listening experience

Flugmorph 06.19.16	I feel ya bro. As some here are already know i have a tinnitus since almost 6 years now. It's also in my right ear mostly. If it stays long er than one month you should consider, that it's coming directly from the brain and isnt caused by problems in the inner ear itself. But you can easily live with it if you dont obsess over it and just accept that it's there. Not really a big problem. My tinnitus got tested and they said that it's about 80 decibel loud

I have a ringing in my left ear that's never gone away and all the doctor said was that it's not bad enough to affect my general hearing (i.e, making out speech) so just take care of it and try not to focus in on it

It also depends on if I listened to a lot of music that day or not and it also depends on the genre. Playing music at a very low volume usually works for me if I hear a little bit of ringing.

Tunaboy45 06.19.16	I've had a sore throat for the last week on the right hand side and it's the right ear that's been ringing so surely they must be connected, sinuses and all. I've cleaned my ears and that seemed to help a little bit, could try a good old sneeze. If it isn't gone in a week or so I'll go to the doctors just to be sure.
BallsDeep 06.19.16	Ive had Tinnitus since a horrific drug combo/reaction in 2010 which also caused me to get a condition called Depersonalization but I digress, I have to sleep with some sort of fan or radio with static because the ringing drives me crazy and the fact i listen to loud music via headphones for at least 3 hours a day isnt helping
Mesm277 06.19.16	I get an infrequent ring that last for about 10 seconds every now and then. I'm 23 and it's quite scary that i'm getting it this early. My dad suffers really bad and has trouble sleeping. If you play in a band wear earplugs. It might not look cool but it's nice to wake up the next morning not in pain (Y). I didn't for about 4 years of playing live but my hearing has been a lot better since i started using them (well it is deteriorating at a lower rate at least)

The Worst thing is that It's hardly even recognized, my psych wasn;t even aware of it, to be fair though he only studied psychiatry for 12 years.

Tunaboy45 06.20.16	Saw my GP today to see if she could clarify things, said my throat is swollen and that's causing some tube in my ear to swell which is apparently causing the ringing. Should go in 6 or so weeks on its own so hopefully that's the end of it.

smaugman 06.20.16	i've had mine since early april, and it's most likely from a combo of several colds and pollen allergy, aka eustachian tube dysfunction. it's pretty annoying as I have a hard time not focusing on it. im going to spain in a week, and maybe the warmer climate + almost no pollen may prove helpful
