08.23.20 | Alright now let’s fight |
JDubb
08.23.20 | There is no wrong Tool listing. Each album and EP is superb, utterly groundbreaking, and unique compared to anything else out there. Mine (currently - this changes like the tides) is Lateralus > Aenima > Fear Inoculum > 10000 Days > Undertow > Salival > Opiate. |
JDubb
08.23.20 | It's interesting you notice the Quicksand vibes in Undertow. I can also hear that, especially upon comparison to the 1993 Slip album. As Opiate was out in 1992 and Slip in 1993, I have a hard time saying that Tool was influenced by Quicksand - but maybe. Deftones, however, were quite definitely influenced by Quicksand and Hum. |
Brabiz
08.23.20 | Quicksand is basically what i think of whenever i jam undertow lol. Definitely not influenced but strikingly similar with the riffs |
JohnnyoftheWell
08.23.20 | Quicksand's first EP came out in 1990 and Undertow most defo has their vibe
Need to touch base with 1 (and maybe 2) but this is a cool ranking. Swap FI with Undertow and it'd be even cooler ;] |
Brabiz
08.23.20 | Lol Undertow used to be the goat for me. It’s an awesome album, but it lacks all of the dynamics and weirdness of their later stuff. |
evilford
08.23.20 | aenima > lateralus agreed |
Brabiz
08.23.20 | Absolutely, it does a great job being accessible while also being a bit out there |
evilford
08.23.20 | Also is pushit the best song they've ever recorded or what |
evilford
08.23.20 | I guess you'd go with third eye lol |
Brabiz
08.23.20 | I’d like to add that Swamp Song does say « you’re dancing in quicksand » lol. So Tool was inspired by Quicksand confirmed!? |
CosmicPie
08.23.20 | 10,000 Days is tops... that's all I ever wanted. |
Brabiz
08.23.20 | Yeah Third Eye is def my favorite, Pushit is good as well. But Third Eye has maybe the best build ups / anticlimaxes i’ve ever heard. It’s such a goosebumps inducing song |
Brabiz
08.23.20 | Ye, people need to give that album the love it’s due. |
Brabiz
08.23.20 | Like come on, it sounds like Meshuggah |
neekafat
08.23.20 | FUCK |
Brabiz
08.23.20 | FFFFFRICK |
neekafat
08.23.20 | FFFFFFFFFFFudge |
JDubb
08.23.20 | 10000 days - not a bad song in the bunch - but I feel the pacing suffers from the two Wings for Marie tracks. Going from Jambi, one of my favorite Tool tracks ever, directly into Wings for Marie has never set well with me |
CosmicPie
08.23.20 | I never thought it sounded like Meshuggah, either. Not even the cats who try to sound like Meshuggah sound like Meshuggah. It's just TOOL at their best. |
Brabiz
08.24.20 | Okay but hear me out, stylistically, Jambi and Rosetta Stoned are very meshuggah-y. It doesn’t sound like meshuggah, but it’s what i’d imagine if someone said « tool does meshuggah » and i’d argue that both of those songs are the heaviest the band has ever put out |
Brabiz
08.24.20 | A lot of the heavier moments drum-wise are clearly inspired by the band, and i don’t understand why people felt mislead when the band said « it’s inspired by meshuggah » it seems plain as day to me.
Also i can’t stand meshuggah |
Sinternet
08.24.20 | awful band for lame manchildren |
ReefaJones
08.24.20 | who cares Tool suck am I right? |
evilford
08.24.20 | who cares Tool suck am I right?
No ur not |
ReefaJones
08.24.20 | Oh ok I thought I was. My bad then. Go on! |
evilford
08.24.20 | Idrc I got nothing else lol |
Eakflanderyof
08.24.20 | "awful band for lame manchildren"
Tool or meshuggah? |
rockarollacola
08.24.20 | I've finally come to grips with the fact that I will simply never be smart enough to understand Tool. |
Veldin
08.24.20 | Wtf i just realized I still haven't jammed 10,000 Days all the way thru. Brb |
Brabiz
08.24.20 | Nothing quite like adding your two cents somewhere irrelevant to your interests and killing the mood. @ all the retards who chimed in.
Also @veldin wtf mane, get on it. 10/10 album |
rockarollacola
08.24.20 | relax |
Dwap
08.24.20 | I would go Lateralus > Aenema > Fear Inoculum > Undertow > 10,000 Days > Opiate
Haven’t heard Salival. Is that wrong of me? |
JDubb
08.24.20 | Yes Dwap, Salival is a mixed bag, but has some incredible tracks (Pushit, No Quarter, You Lied). |
bigweinerdon
08.24.20 | 10k Days is definitely their best. Probably because it sounds like Meshuggah |
Egarran
08.24.20 | Agree with JDubb. Everybody's list is beautiful, because this is a beautiful band. You can tell because only ugly people dislike it. |
wojodta
08.24.20 | Third Eye Salival > Third Eye Aenima |
