My dad got me into this album at a very young age, which spawned my interest in progressive rock up to this day. He had the original 1990 CD version that sounded a little muddy and wasn't a proper transfer anyway, so I hankered down recently and found the 94 remaster by Joe Gastwirt that supposedly is the definitive sounding version of the album. Will be interesting to compare the two sonically. |

Plus, I can now listen to Kendrick and Drizzy's "Poetic Justice" and not feel like I'm missing anything. |

For this album's 20th anniversary, I decided to give this a proper listen after hearing it on and off for several years. Obviously we all know what came after this, but this album really brings the feels no matter the band's discog. The opening riffs of "Planet Telex" instantly transport me back to the early-to-mid 90's, even though I was just a toddler then. It's kind of like the Boards of Canada effect for people who didn't live during the 70's. Crazy how music can do that to you. |
