XingKing
10.07.13 | I see no A Lot Like Birds. Get on that shit. Also, I fucking love the Murder City Devils and yet no one on this site knows 'em. They definitely aren't technical in the slightest though |

Cygnatti
10.07.13 | um this list would be nice, except it isn't. |
JustinKing
10.07.13 | I love Alexisonfire's guitar work on their first two albums. The Fall of Troy and At the Drive-In are definitely up there, too. I actually like every album here. Especially 62. |

joshuahuntkc
10.07.13 | A Lot Like Birds. |

10.07.13 | This isn't a competition. The Fall of Troy's Thomas Erik is hands down the most talented guitarist on this list. |
CosmicPie
10.07.13 | Damn. There are a lot I still need to check out. Massive list. |
iwasnvrurbf
10.07.13 | La Dispute's Somewhere At The Bottom... had much better guitar work than Wildlife |
Treeman
10.07.13 | I didn't see citycop on here and theyve got my favorite guitar work on a post hardcore album i think. But nice list |
Inferis
10.07.13 | Thomas Erak and Justin Beck are probably my favorites. |
YakNips
10.07.13 | 83 ye |
sniper
10.07.13 | people think thomas erak is better than he is. he basically ripped off hot cross and rush. i could play most tfot stuff when i was 16 |
Azn.
10.07.13 | sorry you're just talented sniper |
Emim
10.07.13 | if you're going to use such a loose (read: nonexistent) definition of post-hardcore, then citycop |

10.07.13 | metalcore and emocore are both technically genres of post-hardcore though |

10.08.13 | come on, screamo is absolutely a subgenre of post-hardcore |
dsroka005
10.08.13 | i've always loved fugazi's guitar work on their last 3 albums |
Cygnatti
10.08.13 | Screamo is a form of posthardcore. But list sucks anyways. |
sniper
10.08.13 | this list is filled with good guitar shit wtf |

chinesewhispers
10.08.13 | Would I.V. or Last City be a better starting point? |
sniper
10.08.13 | from a purely guitar standpoint, last city, although i prefer IV for it's vitriol and generally crushing feel. i would recommend all of their stuff since last city though. |
witchxrapist
10.08.13 | EMOCORE LOL |

10.08.13 | some of the bands are good but yeah slight variations of this list get posted every week and theyre usually so disparate as to be useless |

SIMBOLIC
10.08.13 | What hep says is canon around these parts |
Potating
10.08.13 | Quite a bit of metalcore on this list... At least it's decent. I'm definitely surprised by the lack of thrice though, both the Artist and The Ambulance and Vheissu especially have some fuckin' sick riffs, more so than Major/Minor. |
chinesewhispers
10.08.13 | I'd agree with that, same with the comment about La Dispute, but I like when guitarists shift from more flashy/technical stuff to more focus on mood and restraint. |
dathvada321
10.08.13 | some of the bands on this list are not post hardcore. great list though |

10.11.13 | Wow, that's cool to know. |
Pennywise_M
10.11.13 | Outrun The Gun - Rooms
That's more on the Metalcore side though. Still good guitars and one hell of a drum |

10.11.13 | fugazi yo |

10.14.13 | Justin Beck (Glassjaw)
Derek Kiesgan (Bear Vs. Shark)
Guy Picciotto/Ian Mackaye (Fugazi)
Will Swan (Dance Gavin Dance)
Micheal Weiss (mewithoutYou) |
drasticaction74
10.14.13 | Beck has the most impeccable swagger of any guitarist I've ever seen or heard. his parts are cool as hell and he's got mad style. he's my fav |
Yubanme
10.15.13 | Gospel blows all the others out of the water |
RFO13
10.15.13 | The first two coheed and cambria albums (SSTB, and IKSSE:3) have great leads and riffs coupled with progressive elements. They definetly belong on this list and are worth checking out if you have not already. |
chinesewhispers
10.28.13 | How has nobody mentioned 52 or 59? The shit they do with their guitars is insane.
92 was also instantly striking |
Mort.
10.28.13 | didn't even realise 59 was on this list and ive 5d that album. yeah the guitar work on that is pretty damn good. dense as fuck |
chinesewhispers
10.28.13 | So far the recommendations have been: As Cities Burn, A Lot Like Birds, Pmtoday, Loma Prieta, Billy Talent, Citycop, Alexisonfire, Lower Definition, A Voice Like Rhetoric, Closure in Moscow, Hail The Sun, Night Verses, From the Makers of, Jacobi Wichita, The Used, and Coheed and Cambria.
Which of these should I add, and which albums should be taken off? |
Rice303
10.28.13 | I know it's a pretty obvious choice and it's more metal/mathcore, but Botch- We Are The Romans has brillient guitar work |
Mort.
10.28.13 | definitely take off 98 and 88. both of them have pretty normal guitars from what i remember. put on a lot like birds and alexisonfire |
SeaAnemone
10.28.13 | baffles me the myriad of shit on here intermixed with really good stuff |
Mort.
10.28.13 | oh and take off 67. not known for its guitar work at all |
chinesewhispers
10.28.13 | @SeaAnemone which is why we're doing renovations, haha.
What should I replace 67 with? |
porch
10.28.13 | i suggest deleting any further mortimusprime suggestions |
ShadowRemains
10.28.13 | ^ |
Mort.
10.28.13 | hey, a lot like birds and Alexisonfire were my only suggestions. theyve got some decent guitar work on them, better than touche amore |
Mort.
10.28.13 | and they were the suggestions out of the comment he gave, not my own personal favourites |
chinesewhispers
10.28.13 | C'mon guys, less bashing, more improving the list from where it's at right now. |
Mort.
10.28.13 | which is what im trying to do. list is pretty good already, i just don't get why touché amore, pianos become the teeth or birds in row are on here. out of those other suggestions, id replace touché amore with Jacobi wichita |
chinesewhispers
10.28.13 | Ight, you don't necessarily have to go by those suggestions, you can rec whatever. Haha
As long as it's decently received I guess |
SeaAnemone
10.28.13 | renovations? how about just establishing your own taste through your explorations of the genre bruh?
plus, I already did it better ; )
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=83975 |
witchxrapist
10.28.13 | Cavities has some of the coolest freaking guitarwork. A Lot Like Birds and The Fall Of Troy too of course. |
chinesewhispers
10.28.13 | Just tryna get a consensus brah
Meet Me in St. Louis, Armchairpolitician and Decahedron all look promising |
SeaAnemone
10.28.13 | did you really listen to all these albums?
when you get a consensus you're necessarily going to get results that are really diluted and dumbed down with all the shit clouding the releases that are agreed to be of better quality ... |
SeaAnemone
10.28.13 | ^ says someone who doesn't know how to find good post-hardcore |
TheSpirit
10.28.13 | As We Draw and Euglena have some pretty intense guitar work |
SeaAnemone
10.28.13 | what'd you think of Lync bro? and what do you think of Nomeansno? |
Mort.
10.28.13 | you've heard every album on this list yet you think post hardcore is whiny bitch music? are you fucking retarded? |
chinesewhispers
10.28.13 | Holy shit, I made the list and there are maybe 7-8 I haven't heard.
If you've listened to every album here then you deserve a medal |
Mort.
10.28.13 | that's fair but i fail to see how most post hardcore is whiny bitch music especially this list. how come you have listened to so much then? i cant imagine id ever have the time to listen to that much |

10.29.13 | i'm listening to the cows now and i endorse the guitarwork and the bugling |

10.29.13 | Ganna be real DGD has dope guitars. |
chinesewhispers
11.06.13 | So after learning some TFoT and DGD, I gotta say Will Swan takes the cake. At least out of those two
Some Blood Brothers is hard as fuck though |
immortalizepain
11.07.13 | Gotta say DGD and A Lot Like Birds at a technical standpoint. But for me, the best guitarist in post-hardcore is Justin Beck. He's good at tones and equipment. And damn, I want to learn what music theory he has taken up or what bands inspired him, but his riffs are downright crazy yet groovy. Even Coloring Book EP has a sweet chord tone. And I also love Thursday's bass and guitar tones at their last album. |
chinesewhispers
11.08.13 | Oh hell yeah dude, Beck never plays anything crazy, but the guy's a genius when it comes to versatility |
DurzoBlint
11.08.13 | I approve of this list, good stuff |

Storm In A Teacup
02.21.17 | Blood Brothers and Fear Before the March of Flames provided me expectations for my future post hardcore and Hopesfall and BoySetsFire completed them. But Thrice, Thursday, Fall of Troy, AFI, The Used, Receiving End of Sirens and others all have great guitarists. |
Storm In A Teacup
02.21.17 | honestly if a post-hardcore band doesn't have a great guitarist that brings the melodies then they aren't even a good post-hardcore band. and the crazier they get with their writing the better they tend to be. |
brainmelter
02.21.17 | list still rules |

11.01.17 | I still come back to this list all the time. If by 'best guitar work' we're talking technical/complex/challenging/original/phenomenal guitar work. Then 48 wins hands down. |
