2013 Electronic Releases Ranked

My final list for the year, barring any last minute entries.
1Boards of Canada
Tomorrow's Harvest

The best soundtrack to a movie never made.
2Blue Sky Black Death
Glaciers

The layering, the 'glacial' pace, the seamless/invisible transitions are perfect. Everybody wants to go to space, and this will take you there easily.
3Geskia!
Silent of Light

One of the best 2013 electronic albums and overall one of the best 2013 albums for me.
4Jon Hopkins
Immunity

With Immunity, Jon Hopkins has created a masterpiece of hypnotic ambient microhouse. Simply amazing, and one of the best electronic album of the year
5Ulver
Messe I.X-VI.X

Ulver have crafted another masterpiece. You may argue that I have cheated including them here, but idc.
6Bonobo
The North Borders

Almost perfect 2AM album, and it sounds like that album cover.
7Recondite
Hinterland

One of my favorite discoveries this year.
8ASC
Time Heals All

Sounds like Boards of Canada, That is a great thing.
9The Knife
Shaking the Habitual

The Knife always had this in them. they were never just a weird electro-pop band. something fucked-up, alien and malicious always existed in their music, and it's gloriously come the fore here.
10Forest Swords
Engravings

Breathtaking.
11Darkside
Psychic

Jaar has been consistently pioneering the scene for years now. Excellent.
12The Field
Cupid's Head

It's The Field. It's another masterpiece. What can I say?
13Autechre
Exai

Not quite Confield, but what is? The finest Autechre record since. Probably.
14Oneohtrix Point Never
R Plus Seven

Now here was a brilliant album for relaxing. Soft atmospheric ambient electro, with also some nice effects and sounds, which really gives depth to the music.
15Tim Hecker
Virgins

Not even close to Ravedeath, 1972, Harmony in Ultraviolet or An Imaginary Country but still good.
16Juno Reactor
The Golden Sun of the Great East

One of the best Psytrance albums I've heard definitely.
17The Haxan Cloak
Excavation

I listened to Consumed and now I'm fucking terrified, thanks Haxan Cloak.
18Moderat
II

By no means are these dance tracks intended for the clubs. Rather, these are club bangers for the lonely and longing.
19Ulrich Schnauss
A Long Way to Fall

This has a bit of a '70s/'80's progressive electronic feel to it, melding together hints of Vangelis, touches of Tangerine Dream, and a bit of Eno
20Shpongle
Museum of Consciousness

Not their best of course, but you can't go wrong with Shpongle
21Mountains
Centralia

Overall, it?s astonishing how music can be this low-key, yet so breathtaking and (pun absolutely intended) majestic at the same time
22U-Ziq
Chewed Corners

Euphoria
23Solar Fields
Origin # 02

The man has never put out a release I haven't enjoyed.
24Daft Punk
Random Access Memories

A disappointment for some, I enjoyed the direction they took with this.
25Baths
Obsidian

Initially, I felt this was a letdown. It has grown on me with time making it worthy of this spot.
