10.25.19 | want to see this so fucking bad but it's not playing anywhere near me at the moment :[ |
Faraudo
10.25.19 | There's not even a date for its opening here in Mexico, I'm just gonna have to wait for a competent leak or whatever.
God my country sucks ass. |
brainmelter
10.25.19 | Yeah it’s a very limited release, had to drive hella out of the way to see it |
Chortles
10.25.19 | can't fkn wait to see it, looks amazing. I guess I'm pretty lucky here in Austin, it's playing at a theater within walking distance for me |
Let
10.28.19 | Improved on The VVitch in every conceivable capacity, a movie that I didn't even particularly like. I can't at the moment think of a better horror movie I've seen this decade, or even movie in general. Real kino shit |
Chortles
10.28.19 | Totally. It's amazing. It really does double down on the oppressive energy laid down by The Witch with something that feels more ambitious, oblique and competely fresh. stunna |

10.28.19 | Not near any theater near me yet, OF COURSE. Fucking Detroit.
Is this... uh... "available" elsewhere, though? Might have to crack. |
brainmelter
10.28.19 | Ive never seen a movie be so bleak and drab while simultaneously being so colorful and hilarious. |

11.04.19 | bunch of rubes won’t notice this till award season |
heyadam
11.04.19 | Willam Dafoe's monologue around "me lobster" was so fucking good. Easily my favorite scene in cinema so far this year. So ridiculous |
Larkinhill
11.04.19 | Great movie. |
Larkinhill
11.04.19 | Btw, for those who don’t have it playing nearby them, I think a wider release is set for Nov 20-something. |
heyadam
11.04.19 | I really wanna see Parasite but the closest showing is almost two hours away |
Chortles
11.04.19 | "Willam Dafoe's monologue around "me lobster" was so fucking good. Easily my favorite scene in cinema so far this year. So ridiculous"
yes, and Dafoe in general is incredible in it. seen it twice now and it's a mastapiece |
brainmelter
11.04.19 | I’m going to see it again tomorrow. I can’t stop thinking about that scene with the mermaid swimming towards the screen in the beginning. The music, her slightly obscured face, the big open ocean behind her. Frightening af |
heyadam
11.04.19 | ya and that's not to detract from Pattinson at all cause he did great too, but Dafoe is a masterclass in this movie. |
brainmelter
11.04.19 | Parasite is really, really good too. Mixes a lot of genres effectively and the cinematography is wonderful |
heyadam
11.04.19 | Lighthouse and Parasite were the two I was looking forward to the most this year. I might have to wait until Parasite is streaming or on blu ray or something |
Larkinhill
11.04.19 | Agreed that Dafoe absolutely owned, though Pattinson was amazing as well. Man, that last shot with the noise distortion (you know) was pretty disturbing/jarring/WTF.
Gonna check Parasite and Dr Sleep this week. Luckily for me, I live in LA. I actually live right across the street from an ArcLight and they get all of these limited release movies (in addition to all the regular wide releases). |
heyadam
11.04.19 | I just moved from LA (for now), was in Pasadena and so sad all these limited releases are hours away from me now |

11.05.19 | that voice distortion effect combined with the negative image works really well in the last scene. the sound design in general is incredible throughout though... the deafening waves, the droning foghorn... not to mention that mermaid scream, which is absolutely one of the most unsettling things i've heard in a movie |
butt.
11.05.19 | seeing this tonight, will check back in the AM to discuss lads. |
Larkinhill
11.05.19 | Yeah that mermaid scream, man. Like a banshee shriek.
That foghorn constantly going off in the background really added another level of unease and dread. |
butt.
11.06.19 | The lobster bit was amazing. Loved the weird chemistry they had |
Anthracks
11.06.19 | pretty cool take on Prometheus. I think pattinson is getting a bit too much attention but he was surprisingly good - his accent is incredibly inconsistent and once you notice you can't unnotice |
Deathconscious
11.06.19 | my friend pussied out, said The Witch was too fucked up. so now we're seeing Jojo Rabbit instead, which i cant complain about. |
butt.
11.06.19 | I almost started wondering if there was some significance to his accent changing throughout the film. |
brainmelter
11.06.19 | there is, he is pretending to be someone else (Winslow). Thought it was an inconsistency my first viewing but it’s too deliberate. that’s why he was opposed to drinking so much, to not blow his cover and to not let his guilt eat him up anymore than it already is |
Larkinhill
11.06.19 | yer fond of me lobster, aren’t ya? |
butt.
11.06.19 | "he is pretending to be someone else"
yup I was laying in bed last night and realized this is probably why. I can't imagine Eggers letting something like that slide. He's way too intentional and detail oriented. |
Anthracks
11.07.19 | that makes even less sense to me because what the fuck would a stranger care which accent he has? i'd prefer his accent just sucking |
