08.31.19 | Both the ones I've bought are shit. Had stellar reviews on amazon, but most people are just looking for something to chuck 100 songs into and shuffle. It would seem that there's basically no market for a high quality high storage mp3 player at this point. Just get a smart phone with an SD slot |
budgie
08.31.19 | i think mp3s stopped being produced in general because smartphones took over that use. don't you have a smartphone?

08.31.19 | you can get modified iPod Classics with SD, microSD or solid-state storage instead of the original mini hard drive. you can also buy the necessary mod components and tools online and get yr old broken iPod(s) up and running again. modding can get you upwards of 256GB of storage on yr iPod; theres a guy on Amazon who literally sells 4TB ones (they're absurdly expensive, but they're at least illustrative of the incredible storage possibilities that modding affords).
the original hard drive is usually the cause of iPod Classics crapping out after a while; they're not durable at all. SD and SSD storage should last you much longer. and if your iPod has the iFlash mod, you can just open the iPod and change the SD card when it eventually fails. |

08.31.19 | Only one I had was an extremly cheap Orion mp3-player. Not the greatest, but it still works - but I never use it because I have all my music on my phone. |
Trifolium
08.31.19 | I use a Pioneer XDP 30R, with 16 GB internal memory but two SD slots so its memory is expendable to 400+ GB. It's a high quality player too, with both a normal jack and a 2.5 mm one for balanced headphone output. |

08.31.19 | pioneer is such a rad company. didn't know they made mp3 players! |
Trifolium
08.31.19 | Yeah man! It wasn't cheap but the sound quality is so so so good. |

08.31.19 | Commenting so this pops up in my discussions. I'm also looking to buy an mp3 player that can play FLAC and WAV and has microsd compatibility. |

08.31.19 | I was waiting for Trifo to rec that crazy thing, am interested in one myself. |
Trifolium
09.03.19 | Hahaha! Yeah, it's a nice one. It feels a bit cheap though, even though it certainly isn't. It must be the materials and it's very light, so it feels cheaper weirdly enough |
Wubs
09.03.19 | I think some of the high end android phones go up to like 1 tb of storage |

09.03.19 | Woah that's hardcore Tri, balancing!? But yeah the design isn't that great, including the UI |

09.03.19 | ipod classic is the GOAT, my 160gb from 2010 is still going strong (will probably die tomorrow now I've jinxed it) |

09.03.19 | Zune? I haven't heard that name in years. You should check some of the Fiio players for something not too pricey |
DungeonBoy
09.03.19 | .. but back to budgie's question, do you not have a phone, and if you do what kind? I got 256 GB of space on my Galaxy SD card for music, don't recall ever having an iPod with half that capacity. |
Trifolium
09.03.19 | Yeah it's a weird little thing but the sound quality is out of this world and you get vast amounts of storage so I still like it. |
EyesWideShut
09.03.19 | didn't Neil Young make an MP3 player that supposed to be good ? |

09.04.19 | Fiio M7 is plays FLAC and WAV files, holds up to 512GB with micro SD, and includes a built-in headphone amp. downside is that file management is a pain, and its touch screen interface is quite dated |
ramon.
09.04.19 | ponoplayer is a scam, don't even think about buying one |

I have the same. It's not the best soundwise (though it is not that expensive anyway), but man is it reliable. It does play FLAC if anyone wants to know |
