My Top albums of 2011
1Rwake
Rest

Rwake really out did them selves with this album.I think this one is a little
bit better then Voices of Omens.A great blend of Doom/Sludge metal that
takes you on a long journey.Nice heavy, dense guitar that crush. The most
spacey album I heard this year.
2Trap Them
Darker Handcraft

It seems like trap Them just get better with each album and in my opinion
they have reached new heights with this album.Very heavy and in your face
with very crusty, metallic guitar work and great drums as well.A good
balanced mix of hardcore and metal.
3Toxic Holocaust
Conjure and Command

If you've lost faith in Thrash metal these days this album will change that
for sure.Probably the best Toxic Holocaust release to date.Punchy
drums, fast riffs, and good sounding bass and lets not forget the vocals.Very apocalyptic album with a great production and mixing behind it.
4Tombs
Path of Totality

With my first listen of this album I didn't really like but after a lot of multiple
listen it really grew on me a lot.I loved Winter Hours so getting into this
album's sound was a challenge but over coming that challenge was worth
it.Drums sound chaotic and super punchy and Mike Hill's guitar work is very
dark and fast that sound echoy and chaotic as well.
5BADBADNOTGOOD
BBNG

A pretty strange choice for a metal guy like me but I love Jazz music and
this band/album meld Jazz with the beats of hip hop very while. All three
musicians play off each other very well like its an old school 1950s Jazz
collaboration.
6 Earth
Angels of Darkness,Demons of Lights 1

One of Earth's best albums so far.The addition of cello was a great touch to
their country/drone/ambient sound they've been messing with for a while
now.
7Cynic
Carbon-based Anatomy

Even though it's not an album, I still think it's one of the best releases to
come out this year.Cynic has stripped all of their death metal roots and
come out with a great sounding prog rock EP.Looking forward to future
releases soon.
8YOB
Atma

Another album that has grown on me a lot this year.An interesting take on
Doom/Prog metal that sounds huge and heavy as hell.Scott
Kelly(Neurosis)'s addition on the track Before We Dreamed of Two sounds
awesome and very ambient.
9Tom Waits
Bad As Me

I've always like Tom Wait's music very much because very one of his albums
has a different feel and this album is no exception.Tom sounds like a mad
man in this but still retaining that controlled chaos feel.Though not one of
my favorites of his albums, its still a solid release and one of my favorites of
this year.
10Brutal Truth
End Time

Brutal Truth have always been a very mind bending grindcore band and this
album is no exception. It requires a lot of attention (well for me anyway) but
its fun listen once you get past all the craziness of the instruments. One of
the best grindcore acts out now and not to mention the stellar drum work
of Richard Hoak.
