JakeStallion 01.13.12	I'm into mostly technical/progressive death metal (BoO, vildhjarta, The Contortionist, etc.), alternative rock (Jimmy Eat World, Anberlin, Muse), general hard rock (Alter Bridge, Egypt Central, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle), a small bit of metalcore (All That Remains, Darkest Hour, Trivium, Unearth, The Word Alive) and some good ol' 80s hair metal. I'm into other stuff as well, but that's the bulk of what I listen to.

Anyway, get Some Fallujah, Necrophagist, White Arms of Athena, NAMI, Ana Kefr, Vektor, Northlane, Dillinger Escape Plan .. I think they might be right up your alley. Botch, Converge, Poison The Well and Fear before might also appeal to you. And are pretty famous on this site. Not sure if you'll like those though.

Evreaia 01.14.12	A lot of people here think their opinion is the only correct one, but hey that's sputnik for you and it leads to some hilarious discussions sometimes.. Either way, while things I've rec'd might not be top of the cream, they most likely will appeal that's why I gave them.
JakeStallion 01.14.12	As seen by a few choices on my list, I don't necessarily care what's praised by the critics. Yes, that helps sway my decision, but if I like it enough, then I could care less what anyone else has to say about it.

JakeStallion 01.14.12	I said that the ratings help sway my opinion. I check out a lot of the stuff that's rated highly here. Some of it, like DEP, I like. Some of it I don't like.
JakeStallion 01.14.12	And on the other side of the spectrum, there are plenty of bands that I do like, that aren't necessarily loved here (Trivium, Chiodos, Five Finger Death Punch).

Skrapyard 01.14.12	Hey Jake, check out the album "The Body" by The Body. It's not too long, pretty accessible (I think) and is quite good. It's not super hardcore or anything, but it's heavy and has cool-sounding riffs.

Skrapyard 01.14.12	And if you like Rise Against, you might like some crust punk such as His Hero is Gone and Iron Hands. Vile Gash is also very good, but is pretty much just hardcore.

JakeStallion 01.14.12	I'm not TOO big into punk, other than some pop-punk (Sum 41) and Rise Against (hardly punk anymore). There's also this punk band that my friend showed me a whole ago, The Unseen, that I'm quite fond of. Other than that, never been too big of a punk fan.

JakeStallion 01.14.12	Thanks Skrapyard! Vocalists usually aren't TOO much of an issue for me. I can adjust pretty quickly to most vocalists that others might see as odd. I'll be sure to check them out when I get home and I'll let you know what I think.
