| Need Your Help
I'm doing a project on M.C. Escher for Survey Of Mathematical blah blah shit class and I'm feeling sick. No not Swine Flu. But I need your help to get me in the mood. I need to explain the elements of math used and played on in these works of art. I will be forever grateful to you if you helped:::: | | 1 | Drawing Hands | | 2 | Still Life And Street | | 3 | Circle Limit III | | 4 | Relativity | | 5 | Waterfall | | 6 | Snakes | |

05.02.09 | he uses the golden section a lot if you know what that is, that greatly relates to math. Also he uses mass amounts og geometrical shapes in his art, and calculates things in his illusion drawings. | Yotimi
05.02.09 | For 1, you could describe it like a circle, which unlike a line segment, has no beginning or end. The two hands in the drawing are continuous and it is impossible to tell where it begins since for one hand to exist, it must have been drawn by the other. You could talk about different elements of symmetry for 6. And I'm sure angles can be used to describe relativity. That's all I got. | PuddleSwimmer

Silverfang, thanks, I realized I haven't even touched the golden section/ratio bit yet and I can stick close to his geometric pieces more for easy-riding | Si1v3RfaNg
05.02.09 | no prob man, most people dont even know what that is. | PuddleSwimmer
05.02.09 | I used to be BIG in both art and music and wanted to pursue them both, but me being color blind, you know....sucked for art...so I went more into music
And people go "doesn't matter if youre colorblind! beethoven was deaf and played music!" And I'd go "well beethoven didn't have to go through the embarrassment of depending on the crayola crayons that had the names written on it" | Si1v3RfaNg
05.02.09 | its alright man, im an artist, that would be one hell of a challenge... you could still draw tho, or work in black and white. |
