weekly digz - slowly branching out
what I've been listening to for the past couple weeks, I don't care it's Friday I'm just that quirky |
| 1 | | Waco Jesus Filth
checking this out right now, reminds me of the destruction of commercial scum but with a better production. no real progression in sound but that's all right. RIP TRASH CAN SNARE, 1999-1999 |
| 2 | | Brotha Lynch Hung Loaded
revisiting brotha lynch in the meantime, and damn is this good. the atmospheric borderline g funk beats go hard, and the features are done tastefully. the carnage is toned down, but still dark as hell. a logical progression from season of da sicknesss

| 3 | | Exhumed Gore Metal
finally checked this out. and this rips. ultra fast goregrind with nods to brutal death metal at times. the slight variety is done sparingly and effectively. underrated.

| 4 | | Aborted The Purity of Perversion
great grimy BDM from the gold age of the genre. there's some slam riffs sprinkled in for some breaks from the suffocation inspired songwriting. song s are well crafted and the vocals are some of the best in BDM from what i've heard.

| 5 | | Burzum Hlidskjalf
still checking this out, will be back later |
| 6 | | Aborted The Necrotorous Chronicles
eh, its okay brutal death metal. not too much to write home here.
3.0 |
| 7 | | Torture 4 - "Enduring Freedom"
finally revisited this, and its the most braindead slam I've ever heard. 99% of the riffs are slams and its great. last track is still too long, though.
3.5 |
| 8 | | Jackhammer Sphincter Removal Addicted to Severe Female Torture...
some of the worst death metal i've heard. ultra tinny production, whimpy guitar tone, bad gutterals, and nothing musically to make up for the eye rolling themes.
0.5 |
| 9 | | Artery Eruption Spewage
kooky slam death metal. almost as dumb as Torture, with it seeming like they are barely playing on time. there's a childlike charm to the whole album and I like that. most of the riffs are slams.
3.5 |
| 10 | | Guts (FIN) Nightmare Fuel
boring death metal. diet death metal to attract fans from less heavy genres. I still stick by my soundoff, this is poser shit. but who knows, shit like this may attract new death metal fans. so eh maybe poser shit is a nessesary evil.
2.5 |
| 11 | | Merzbow Venereology
revisiting some harsh noise
at first when i was into harsh noise i didn't like it, but now it clicks. first half is okay but the second is pretty good. especially I Lead You Towards Glorious Times. might take some inspiration from that track.
3.5 |
| 12 | | Afterbirth Psychopathic Embryotomy
i'm not sure what it is, but i'm really not feeling this still. might need to try it out more.
3.0 |
| 13 | | Disgorge (Mex) Gore Blessed to the Worms
a really nice blend of all of their pervious albums. pretty well done BDM/goregrind. not as intense as early Disgorge, but still brutal as all hell.
4.5 |
| 14 | | Origin Origin
on the first listen is pretty good tech death/BDM, with chugging sections that i can remember. need to give it another listen when i'm in the mood for death metal.
