ArsMoriendi 03.28.25	I think my favorite song on Electro-Shock Blues is P.S. You Rock M World. It's kinda cheesy to pick this line, but ending your album with "And maybe it's time to live" when all of the previous songs are about mourning the illness and death of your loved ones is kinda powerful

ArsMoriendi 03.28.25	Also while Mind isn't my #1 Talking Heads song, I absolutely adore the lyrics, they're so relatable, really, so it's a fantastic choice for a favorite It's funny how the lyrics so perfectly capture people who push their worldview on you and how frustrated they can get when you don't give into their pushing. I imagine many people find themselves on both sides of the lyrics heh

My other favorite part is when after he says 'religion won't change you,' how he says 'what is the matter with you?' like, under his breath lol good point about people finding themselves on both sides! i can say i've found myself on both sides. on the receiving end when people try to force their religion on me, and on the serving end when i'm trying to get people into the weird music i like lol I need something to change your mind!

It's so palpable, and brings me back to people saying this to me essentially lol. Like religious indoctrination is treated like it's some magical mind control device by so many people, so when it doesn't work, somehow the person not being controlled is who is wrong lol It's funny because while I empathize with both sides of the lyrics, I only sympathize with the person being sung to, not the speaker. David Byrne is honestly so good at constructing odd mindsets
cylinder 03.28.25	Ohhhhh. I always saw the religion line as like, 'what is the matter with you for thinking that religion would actually change you?' But you're right, since the chorus is 'I need something to change your mind,' it follows that all the verses are someone trying to change someone else by any means necessary. Thanks for that insight there. I def only sympathize with the person being sung to as well haha. And oh yeah, Byrne is one of my top 10 lyricists easy. He has such a knack for observing the absurdity in seemingly ordinary things, and he always delivers with such humor and self-awareness. Love him to death
