03.06.25 | Might add to this list based on suggestions

unclereich
03.06.25 | we dont need to discuss floyd/zepp ever again. |
TheSonomaDude
03.06.25 | Rust in peace and Master of puppets |
Demon of the Fall
03.06.25 | yeah agreed with most of these. I COULD stand to talk about heads a little because I’m yet to really do that and should listen more despite enjoying their music
I love Cocteau Twins, enjoy discussing their other material but yeah HOLV is no longer essential in this regard
Radiohead, easily
Mezzanine maybe, but I prefer Blue Lines and sometimes like to flaunt my edginess
Bjork in general is getting a little stale (the discussions, not her music)
I’m bored talking about ANY of the original death metal titans / classics at this point (including ALL Opeth). Mastodon discussion is boring as hell too. Converge as well. Over exposed here.
I probably don’t NEED to discuss Portishead at this point either
|
DoofDoof
03.06.25 | This seems like a list Tool should feature on, though would they qualify as AMAZING?
'Reign in Blood' might make the cut - has anyone ever said anything too interesting about it?
I hate to say this, I really do, but sometimes I think people are all talked out about The National at this juncture...plus they're at a low ebb. |
FowlKrietzsche
03.06.25 | I don't think we need to talk about the Beatles anymore, its either that you get the scope of their influence (so why talk about it anymore?) or you're a moron no conversation can reach |
ArsMoriendi
03.06.25 | What if we all agreed to stop bumping these for like a year |
unclereich
03.06.25 | i could live with that |
DoofDoof
03.06.25 | oh oh another low hanging fruit...'Loveless' |
artiswar
03.06.25 | I don't mind people bumping anything they like honestly. What does it matter |
ArsMoriendi
03.06.25 | Technically it doesn't matter, but after a while it's like beating a dead horse |
unclereich
03.06.25 | nothing matters but let's pretend like it does |
FowlKrietzsche
03.06.25 | Alright how about some higher fruit?
To Pimp A Butterfly |
Demon of the Fall
03.06.25 | Natty are technically correct also, yet I still occasionally try (like today, coincidentally!)
The Beatles is kinda right but not necessarily for the (condescending) reasoning given and misses the caveat that music discussion doesn’t have to include anything history related |
artiswar
03.06.25 | "nothing matters but let's pretend like it does" [2] |
foxblood
03.06.25 | I would say outside of sput, Thriller. A lot of people think it's the best album ever made. Same with To Pimp a Butterfly to a lesser extent. On sput None So Vile. It's probably in my top 10 albums but there's literally nothing else to say it's just a masterpiece. |
ArsMoriendi
03.06.25 | Thriller is definitely not over-discussed on here, but I agree it is in general
Probably would be cool to see 80s pop like Michael Jackson broken down more here |
artiswar
03.06.25 | other than reviews, lists and certain comments like 90% of the comments are filler anyway. That's never going to change but we can all try harder |
Butkuiss
03.06.25 | Idk I feel like most of the modern internet canon™️ is in here. I can’t imagine anyone having an original thought about say ITAOTS, F#A# or even Exmilitary that you couldn’t just as easily have turfed up on here or another unnameable board 15 years ago. |
onionbubs
03.06.25 | foxing
children of the moon (much better album of the two though)
edit: damn new albums dont count lmao. we all know its true though |
ArsMoriendi
03.06.25 | I don't wanna count new albums because discussion for them could peter out over time. Those albums are too young to even talk legacy |
onionbubs
03.06.25 | tell that to the people in the children of the moon thread who are instantly crowning it as one of musics greatest accomplishments ever lmao |
onionbubs
03.06.25 | oh also there is absolutely nothing more that needs to be said about brand news music |
efp123
03.06.25 | ^^^ |
artiswar
03.06.25 | "oh also there is absolutely nothing more that needs to be said about brand news music"
but what about the way I feel when I hear Sowing Season for the 1000th time? |
FowlKrietzsche
03.06.25 | Brand New? Kinda Old tbh |
swallowtales
03.06.25 | But if we stop talking about Brand New how will we discuss whether they can be reformed after their disgrace and whether cancellation is forever |
artiswar
03.06.25 | Brand New feels pretty dead, if they come back somehow I'd be really surprised |
Butkuiss
03.06.25 | They literally just announced reunion shows lol |
Frippertronics
03.06.25 | "Maybe a troll could come in and claim "Man Next Door" is the best song on the album."
been saying this since i've heard it and i don't think it's really a contrarian take lol it's a great song surrounded by other incredible tracks |
Frippertronics
03.06.25 | but also if you wanted to talk about something else, couldn't you just....do that? This would also require you to listen to something other than the same 5 things or make threads for the albums you want to talk about |
ArsMoriendi
03.06.25 | "This would also require you to listen to something other than the same 5 things or make threads for the albums you want to talk about"
Yeah, I hate when people accuse me of this -it's makes 0 sense. Which of my recent 100+ ratings includes these "only 5 artists" I listen to? I have over 1,200 ratings, the majority of which are at least 3.5s |
Frippertronics
03.06.25 | you could not act like that statement is some attack on you personally but ok |
Frippertronics
03.06.25 | i don't care what you choose to listen to but again if you wanted to talk about something else couldn't you just do that instead of asking this question to the ever-dwindling userbase? |
Flashmobba
03.06.25 | Madvillainy
not a perfect album, but many consider it to be the best rap album ever, not even doom’s best |
ArsMoriendi
03.06.25 | Seemed like a fun idea I had based on observation and it created engagement
Also I bump threads for artists that aren't these all the time |
vult
03.06.25 | Back in Black or Appetite for Destruction would have my vote |
SmashIsTheWay94
03.07.25 | If there's any Hounds of Love/The Dreaming fatigue, we could all just discuss Aerial ad nauseum. I'm down |
Futures
03.07.25 | not really anymore but for a long time american football was the only midwest emo album anyone talked about. so yeah i think enough's been said about that one lol |
AlexKzillion
03.07.25 | hmmm i kinda disagree with death grips being on this list in 2025. for as much as they dominated discussion in the 2010s, nowadays they're essentially a relic of the pre-pandemic world. flatlander confirmed they disbanded last month and we didn't even get a news article here lmao. |
AlexKzillion
03.07.25 | also unbelievable there are 29 albums here already and not one of them is deftones. specifically saturday night wrist just because no single song has been more overly-discussed on this site than pink cellphone.
also please add brat to the list |
Futures
03.07.25 | i was def going to say brat lol but i saw the description said 4.5 or 5's |
unclereich
03.07.25 | death grips being here is stupid[2] |
AlexKzillion
03.07.25 | also another newer album: callous daoboys - celebrity therapist. and i'm as guilty of causing that as anyone lmao. only so many variants of "this album is goated!" and "the ep is different and not as good! one hit wonders?" one can go through |
AlexKzillion
03.07.25 | if any kendrick album belongs here its mr morale. the consensus on kendrick's discography through damn is pretty much set in stone in 2025... whereas we've been relitigating mr morale on a weekly basis here ever since the drake beef started |
Icebloom
03.07.25 | Not sure I understand what Frippertronics is on about but I like this list
I'd add ISIS - Panopticon and Oceanic, and maybe The Cure - Disintegration |
Demon of the Fall
03.07.25 | "i don't care what you choose to listen to but again if you wanted to talk about something else couldn't you just do that instead of asking this question to the ever-dwindling userbase?"
I mean you could...
except in many circumstances I find this means talking to yourself, so it entirely depends on interest levels. There are plenty of threads for (what I'd consider to be) fairly significant artists that lay dormant and are subject to maybe a couple of fresh new comments per year (if you're lucky). I find myself commenting in popular threads more than I otherwise would, simply to be part of a discussion / community
I will still comment in obscure threads because it serves as a personal ref of sorts (even if no-one responds), but unfortunately this is the other side of the over-discussion issue. It stands to reason that a lack of activity is a vicious circle of "why bother?" if you're actively seeking responses. My advice to anyone is be the change you want to see. So what if you end up with a whole page of your own comments? lol...
it might bring visibility and if the timing is right, new interested users / listeners can emerge from the shadows |
NexCeleris
03.07.25 | ^ Wholesome take. ♥ |
Butkuiss
03.07.25 | Yeah I can’t tell you how many threads I jump into where I’m the first comment in years and probably the last for a while. A lot of the time it just feels like gazing into the abyss while I shitpost song lyrics in all caps, but hey, someone’s gotta do it! |
vult
03.07.25 | Didn’t even read in the description that you asked for sput overglazed album, not just overglazed ones in general. I work with a lot of older white men who are all about gnr and acdc so that’s why they came to mind, can’t stand listening to them talk about those bands. They’re good albums ya but ugh so tiring.
If I could redo I’d probably drop any of the last three counterparts albums |
PsychLizard
03.07.25 | Dark side of the moon.
It's not the best Floyd album by a looooooooooong shot.
It just the fact the album cover is so iconic, and yeah, it has some amazing songs.
But The Wall, Animals and WYWH are all far superior.

ArsMoriendi
03.07.25 | "if any kendrick album belongs here its mr morale"
"also please add brat to the list"
Trying to avoid recency bias. Pretty sure the new car smell is still on them. 2022 wasn't that long ago |
