ArsMoriendi
11.29.24 | Caetano Veloso - Caetano Veloso (1971)

Hyperion1001
11.29.24 | 3 best band ever |
Demon of the Fall
11.29.24 | bit confused. Does it really have to be “manly”? lol |
Hawks
11.29.24 | Caroline K - Now Wait for Last Year |
NexCeleris
11.29.24 | Nah, just enjoyable for manly men. |
Demon of the Fall
11.29.24 | depends how obvious we’re talking because I’d be starting with Portishead, Massive Attack, Boards of Canada, Bjork etc. but none of those are particularly manly by themselves (but a few manly men must enjoy them, lol)
actual rec…
The Knife - Silent Shout
accessible, bangs etc. but also not manly (?) |
Futures
11.29.24 | interpol- turn on the bright lights |
NexCeleris
11.29.24 | @Demon: Was hoping for something less obvious. Do enioy Björk and Massive attack in doses.
Edit: Yep. |
Futures
11.29.24 | oh less obvious? my bad. you can change mine to arab strap- philophobia. manly scottish feels. a little less known comparatively lol |
chemicalmarriage
11.29.24 | Coltrane live in japan |
NexCeleris
11.29.24 | Never heard of Interpol either. Changed your rec. |
Futures
11.29.24 | oh really? haha, dealers choice. whatever sounds more interesting to you. |
ConcubinaryCode
11.29.24 | The number twelve looks like you - worse than alone |
NexCeleris
11.29.24 | Wait, isn't No. XII heavy guitar music?
Know Glasses, Mongrel and Wild Gods. Did they release an album w/o heavy guitars in between? |
ConcubinaryCode
11.29.24 | My bad, i only saw the title lol and assumed. Check underworld -dubnobass |
NexCeleris
11.29.24 | Changed, thanks. |
ConcubinaryCode
11.29.24 | Have you not heard boards of canada? |
NexCeleris
11.29.24 | Not 'heard' heard. Know they exist and have checked individual songs. |
ConcubinaryCode
11.29.24 | They're pretty essential and all their music is pretty stellar but I already recc'd an album so I don't want to be greedy. Just something to tuck in the back of your mind. |
Demon of the Fall
11.29.24 | I was cheeky and put them in the ‘obvious essentials’ list so it’s basically another rec of music for the children |
mryrtmrnfoxxxy
11.29.24 | Meat puppets - II |
Pikazilla
11.29.24 | the glitch mob - drink the sea |
JohnnyoftheWell
11.30.24 | oxbow an evil heat |
SomeCallMeTim
11.30.24 | Someone rec The Books |
Emim
11.30.24 | Stevie Wonder - Innervisions |
NexCeleris
11.30.24 | First Coltrane, now a top 2 Stevie alb. It's low-hanging fruit, but good music is good music ig. I'll take it. |
Emim
11.30.24 | If you've heard it I can rec something else |
NexCeleris
11.30.24 | Never listened to one of his albums in full. We're good here, but if you wanna rec a deeper cut, please feel free to do so. (Will update in the morning in that case.) |
Havey

11.30.24 | Nex you need more fruit in your diet |
Mort.
11.30.24 | why the fuck is this doing the mort? |
NexCeleris
11.30.24 | Because I shall break free from guitar music. For a day or so. |
IsisScript80
11.30.24 | We've all got to do Mort. at some point in our lives.
Arguably, a rite of passage. |
Butkuiss
11.30.24 | Nex listen to Cure for Pain by Morphine. There’s guitar occasionally, but it’s super low in the mix, and there’s plenty of skronk |
NexCeleris
11.30.24 | Will do. Sounds wonderful. Added. |
Egarran
11.30.24 | https://youtu.be/uMNATdeqDDo?si=xveLZ4JbkB2AOi1R |
NexCeleris
11.30.24 | So you're saying Infected EP, Eggy? |
AsleepInTheBack
11.30.24 | Albert Ayler - In Greenwich Village
For that free/spiritual jazz with insane marching band frivolities
Definitely check the complete 2.5 hour recordings if you like the original, but I’d just start with the original as it’s a nice 40min thing |
evilford
11.30.24 | Geetar muzik is most of what I listen to.
One of the greatest albums you will ever hear is Slint - Spiderland. But it has heavy/distorted guitars at times
If that is absolutely unacceptable I will commit Harry caray
Jk in it's place i will rec Bark Psychosis - Hex |
NexCeleris
11.30.24 | "Albert Ayler - In Greenwich Village"
A thoughtful rec I'm looking forward to. |
NexCeleris
11.30.24 | How could I deem one of the greatest albums I've never heard unacceptable? I'll take it. |
JohnnyoftheWell
11.30.24 | spiderland and hex rly do be two of the twentyish guitar albums that matter apart from the other ones |
Demon of the Fall
11.30.24 | An Evil Heat is a VERY gentle introduction to ‘not heavy’ guitar music wtf Johnny you rebellious fiend (or maybe you just didn’t read)
Otherwise it’s a great general choice and I’m optimistic about the outcome here. One of thee albums |
NexCeleris
11.30.24 | Your optimism is more than justified, regardless of Johnny's particular pick. We're 6/6 so far. Seeing as I've slept on all non-meddl genres for the past 25 years, *and* considering the general quality of Sput recs, I don't foresee any major points of criticism here. Silent Shout has been wonderful so far. |
Illoomorpheme
11.30.24 | This seems to be a perfect time to rec Inheritance by Musk Ox. What an absolutely wonderful album that both chills and warms my metalhead soul. |
NexCeleris
11.30.24 | Promising description. Added, thanks. |
JohnnyoftheWell
11.30.24 | Hmmm An Evil Heat does go irresponsibly hard at points, but I refuse to switch it for anything that doesn't go harder. Hit Keith Jarrett - The Survivor's Suite! |
Hyperion1001
11.30.24 | check out Robert hood - minimal nation |
cylinder
11.30.24 | Wolfsheim - Casting Shadows |
Futures
11.30.24 | it's def a very interesting and specific album. really unique and special. very sad and draining. def not an all the time listen. i find it hits the spot drifting away at night. thanks for checking it out nex. |
Supercoolguy64
11.30.24 | Flawed Mangoes - Killswitch Melodies |
NexCeleris
11.30.24 | @Futures: Yeah, I could see this being a nice sleeping aid in a good way. Think I'd gravitate to something a bit less somber, but it's rather calming.
@cyl: Already know Shadows and Spectators. I'm sure you'll find something else to rec, but I can also recheck. |
RadioSuicide
11.30.24 | Ah, admittedly I didn’t read the last sentence, Propaghandi does feature heavier guitars. Swap for King Creosote and Jon Hopkins - Diamond Mine |
NexCeleris
11.30.24 | Your wish is my command. |
efp123
11.30.24 | sownbones - helpless |
NexCeleris
11.30.24 | Glad you've stuck around. Hang in there! Added. |
gabba
11.30.24 | The Herbaliser Band - Session 1 |
ArsMoriendi
11.30.24 | I will die alone on a hill that says One Hit rules
Walrus backup vocals and all |
IsisScript80
11.30.24 | "I will die alone on a hill that says One Hit rules"
You surely will not, as I too FUCKING LOVE that track.
I await many deaths on that hill of exceptional taste. |
NexCeleris
11.30.24 | There must be dozens of you out there. I found that Santa shanty ho-ho-ho stuff insufferable, but I also have no clue wth I'm talking about.
I'm just glad my extraordinary manliness allowed me to listen to chem's rec in one go without tapping out. |
Egarran
12.01.24 | >So you're saying Infected EP, Eggy?
I guess, but that particular cut is only on yt. |
Demon of the Fall
12.01.24 | “I will die alone on a hill that says One Hit rules”
I won’t let you die there alone, because it does!
we all know Shaking is their opus but I thought rec’ing it would be a step too far for our fledgling here |
FowlKrietzsche
12.01.24 | Jazz Spastiks & People Without Shoes - Green Street |
NexCeleris
12.04.24 | The one time where it'd fit, YoYo doesn't say the thing.
Weak shtick. |
Pikazilla
12.04.24 | Phew, thought you'd hate the mob ahaha |
NexCeleris
12.04.24 | Actually, I'm sure the rating will only go up from there. Have a soft spot for SID-y sounds in particular. Good stuff. |
Pikazilla
12.04.24 | omg based |
ConcubinaryCode
12.05.24 | Have you thought about delving into hip hop? |
NexCeleris
12.05.24 | You could say I've already had my fill of that. Appreciate the thought. |
