While I'm not as familiar with their wider body of work review-wise, I did read their Cure review very recently, and was blown away by how eloquently they examined just how unlikely the album was, both in terms of the turbulent production, and in terms of how good it was despite The Cure's last few albums pre-hiatus being more lackluster |

11.07.24 | Years ago there was nowhere to stream or buy australian band Youth Groups 1st LP Urban and Eastern and Sandwhich sent me a file of the whole album which is an album i still jam 10 to 20 times a year. Loved that they did that for me and still think about it when jamming the album. |

11.08.24 | I don’t think anyone else comes close to Sandwichbubbles encyclopedic music knowledge on this site. I tried to open his ratings page once and my phone almost exploded. As far back I can remember he’s always worked at making the database better and more complete. His community lists like the pie chart validation or his lists where he asks for recs (and he usually gets through all of them in a timely manner). He’s an essential pillar of the community and in my few interactions with him he has always been welcoming and nice

Over a decade ago we met at our job and started an incredible friendship, much of which in the early years was based around music, and also deeply related to our involvement with Sputnik and its community. The moments we shared listening to and dissecting music we found from this site, or just diving into Sput based conversation, were such an important piece of my early 20’s.
He still pops up in Joanna Newsom or Waxahatxhee threads from time to time, but he is one of the most GOAT’d users and unsung hero’s on this site from way back. |
