10 years of Pangea

Ten years ago a 17 year old shy Pangea made his sputnikmusic.com account after lurking daily since 2013. Now i'm still here, hi! This website has meant a lot to me, so here are 10 sput things i am grateful for
1Trophy Scars
Holy Vacants

1. The people who were around when I first joined

While I didn't feel like a big part of the community in my early years, I do have very fond memories of my time then. Sput was such a big influence on my early music taste and I loved discussing that with all the people over here. While I didn't have too many friends here back then, I do remember a lot of great interactions I had with other users. I remember DaveyBoy was reviewing a lot of indie things i was into back then and he was always very encouraging into letting other users talk (still one of the nicest users we have had on the site) and helped me getting out of my shell.
2State Faults
Children of the Moon

2. Every reviewer on the site

While I don't read as many reviews as I used to should, reviews are the backbone of the site and I greatly appreciate every reviewer, whether staff, contributor or user. When I joined the website I was inspired by many sputnik reviews from the likes of Robin, Chan and Sowing. I loved that reviews had a more personal and approachable style as reviews on other sites. Tried reviewing myself as a 18 year old non-native speaker who didn't really know what he was doing. But even so I got very supportive and helpful feedback from users GameofMetal and CometoDaddy in the proofreading thread that helped my early reviews a ton.

I realized down the line that I like the idea of reviewing more than actually reviewing myself. I love talking and analyzing music, but I get so self-conscious about my writing that it can be source of stress as well. Which is why I probably won't review much in the near future - trying to reduce stress in my life!
3Vi Som Alskade Varandra Sa Mycket
Det Onda. Det Goda. Det Vackra. Det Fula.

3. Any recs I have gotten throughout the years

Love getting recs whether it's from my dearest sput friends or any user I don't interact with as much. Sharing music with others is one of best feats of this site and I found some very cool stuff I wouldn't have found otherwise. Thank you all! If i ever didn't listen to an album you rec'd it is because my brain is dumb and forgetful.
44 Bonjour's Parties
Okapi Horn

4. The CaCo thread

The casual convo thread is what me stay around the website in 2019 after my hiatus in 2018. It took me a while to get comfortable in the threads, but eventually it's the thing that made me feel connected to the community here and how I found most of my sputfriends. Whether it's the og 2019/2020 crew (trif, dexbros, phero, ars, budgie, egarran, diva, garas) or the newer people in the thread (demon, fogza, denboy, many others list isn't complete!). Love to chat with you all (somewhat) daily and shitpost about coffee, sweatpants etc.

Keleketla!

5. The Song of Day threads

Joined the song of the day in 2020 and was active there until it's death last year. Was one of the most fun things i have done on the website. Huge props for legend neek for starting it and for users like Diva, Ars, dedex, fogza and vercetti who have kept it alive all those years. I guess it had to end at some point, but we had a very good run!
6Stimming
Alpe Lusia

6. The casual convo discord

Started in 2019 and took a while to get going, but it was the main thing keeping me sane during the pandemic. It was a small, but tight crew back then. Loved the daily shitposting and chats with my dearest sput friends. The server has become much bigger since then with lots of great people joining. It wasn't personal towards anyone when i left it half a year ago, just personal mental stuff. Love you all!
7The Young Gods
Only Heaven

7. The secret Santa events

Love participating in the secret santa last 4 years in december. Both as santa when Ars started it (thank you user someone for this gift) and as host myself in the last two years. I think it has become one of the best regular events on sput and I hope it's continued this year, whether it's done by Ars, me or someone else.
8The Veils
...And Out of the Void Came Love

8. All the sput friends I met IRL

Loved the few things I was able to meet some users in the wild. It's always feels a bit weird to see your actual face, but everyone i have met were lovely and great company. Whether it was hanging out with Jesper and minush in Amsterdam, strolling around new york with ars, sona and snake, drinking bubble tea in utrecht with trif and jesper and concerts with the London gang of anat, phero, johnny and fogza. (also many concerts with Jesper!)
9Gospel
The Moon Is a Dead World

9. All mods and editors that keep the site alive

The website has gone through a lot of shit, especially last year. So i'm also grateful for all the people that keep it going for all of us to enjoy. Whether that is on the front from Sowing or all the people that i'm sure do a ton of work behind the scenes (I think Willie and Jom atleast, maybe others i'm not aware of) . Thank you all
10Ethereal Shroud
Trisagion

10. You

Or rather just everyone who still around. The site may not be as active as its peak days anymore, but it's still going strong because of people coming here everyday to talk music. I'm not always as active anymore due to work to keeps me very busy, but I still visit at least once a day to see what everyone is up to, Love you all
