I think Kurt would have eventually steered the band in a different direction, maybe more acoustic after the success of unplugged. I dunno if there would have been creative tensions and a split, but imagine how great it would have been if Dave just kept playing the drums and nothing else, what a wonderful world

Some think that Kurt used Kurdt to distance himself from early songwriting, as a joke due to a typing mistake, and/or to incorporate his middle initial "D" into his first name. Regardless, love some early Nirvana - so used the Kurdt spelling herein.

JDubb 08.27.23	I see 3 scenarios if Kurt had lived. 1 - Nirvana would have imploded in spectacular fashion, like GNR; 2 - they would have tried to go back to something a bit more raw, like Bleach and Incesticide tracks, to further break from the mainstream; or 3 - crumpled to label pressure resulting in a radio friendly album. Each ultimately leading to the band fading in relevance.

BAT 08.28.23	i feel like if he kept going the music would start to shed away some of his hardcore tendencies for a more 70s rock/david bowie type of thing. nirvana probably would've broken up within a few years or became an album only band, from what i can tell one of the biggest stressors of his final days was touring. i'd doubt he'd get into electronics/sampling/etc that became standard in 90s alt rock shortly after his death. oh yeah and in the situation he stuck around he'd probably have a rick rubin team up.
