(Mana)tea time - things I can’t get

Welcome back to the next installment of (mana)tea time, where I put myself on display for Sputnik to mercilessly dissect my tastes and attitude, all while I have a cup of tea. This installment, I’m going to share some bands/movies/books that I just have never been able to get into for one reason or another. Let’s see how this goes…
1Metallica
Ride the Lightning

Metallica – Almost every time I tell a non-heavy music person that I listen to metal they’re like, “Oh, so you must like Metallica?” When I tell them I’ve never been into Metallica they don’t understand. Seriously though, I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a single album, and I can’t tell you why. Rec me one.
2Bob Dylan
Blood on the Tracks

Bob Dylan – I’ve never gotten into him. Not sure why. Probably also just a point of not knowing where to start but I’ve tried and failed. Rec me an album so I can correct myself.
3Trivium
In the Court of the Dragon

The Sword of Truth series – Read the first book, loved it, and have tried to get myself through the second one three times and just couldn’t do it. Am I wrong? Should I push myself through? It’s just so much...
4The Dear Hunter
Migrant

Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere – Despite many, many, many recommendations from just about all of my friends, I just don’t have the time to invest in like five series with eight books each.
5Radiohead
Kid A

Radiohead – Yeah, yeah, I know, street cred has plummeted. But honestly, idgi. Maybe I need to revisit it as an adult but I don’t know if I can.
6Yello
Stella

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – I almost refuse to watch this movie just for shock value at this point. Every time I say I haven’t seen it, the response is like, “hwut u haven’t laik seen the gr8test moovie evarrrr!??!?!” Nope!
7Rancid
...And Out Come the Wolves

Punk rock – I listen to so much music that has roots in punk that this shouldn’t make any sense, and yet I can’t get myself into straight punk rock. Why? What is wrong with me?
8TEETH (CAN)
A Biblical Worship Of Violence

First person shooters – I spent many years absolutely hating the very thought of first person shooters only to warm up to them in my late teens and then I kind of stopped playing video games. The only one that I ever loved was Call of Duty: MW, but I just never got into them in general.
9Blink-182
Enema of the State

Blink-182 – It’s not that I haven’t liked Blink-182, but considering that nearly all of my friends were utterly obsessed with them when I was a kid, it shocks me that I never got more into them. I’m not sure why.
10Danny Elfman
Edward Scissorhands

Edward Scissorhands – Never seen the movie in its entirety. It has never interested me.
