03.05.23 | Is this one of those Yu-Gi-Oh games that doesn't follow the tcg rules? |

Bruh top 10 ain't bad |

03.06.23 | Lab Ruler is awful, one of the worst duels for speedruns that isn't Grandpa. Bakura also isn't that bad either, he's probably one of the easiest duels in the game. Sure, his low deck cost might be annoying but it's manageable if you build your deck right. |
CaliggyJack
03.06.23 | Hard disagree, but then again most low card limit duels piss me off.
I can see lab ruler being shite for speedrun, but I just love navigating the map and his cards aren't op either. |

03.06.23 | get field cards, guys |
Asdfp277
03.06.23 | and for grandpa, get wall shadow. it's literally that easy. there are cards that are immune to traps too, but they're weak |

03.06.23 | His exodias r still bs |

03.06.23 | losing to him via exodia was hype af for me lmao |
Demon of the Fall
03.06.23 | how are you deciding on the ranking? Enjoyability of the duel I'd gather. Weird order therefore, but okay. Cool list regardless.
I wish this was the 'standard' for Yu-Gi-Oh games, really enjoyed this one back in the day. I'm not interested in playing in the usual manner, give me that 7x7 board and a 'deck leader concept' any day >
I mean they could've added more opponenets / a post-game, but given the limitations it was still a blast to play because I was a massive sad-act and liked collecting cards for my obscure deck concepts and thus was addicted to reincarnating my spares etc. |

03.06.23 | sacred cards bro |

03.06.23 | @demon yeah I based it off general enjoyability
DoR is such a great game facts |

03.06.23 | Never played this but as a huge yugioh fan growing up, I would love to see a switch/Playstation port/download |
Demon of the Fall
03.06.23 | Definitely needs a port. In fact it should get a full remake with bonus content (new opponents / cards) and (possibly) online play. |
Demon of the Fall
03.06.23 | I’ve also played it more recently on a PS emulator with all the benefits, the mods to speed up gameplay / the ability to save mid-duel were both welcome |
Asdfp277
03.06.23 | it's somewhat slow at first, you might lose a couple of times but then it gets fun
the music of DotR and Forbidden Memories is forever etched into my brain |

03.06.23 | those are the only ones i've played, is sacred cards as good? what other ones are there that are good? |
SaveBandit
03.06.23 | The nostalgia just from reading the title lol. Haven't played that game in soooooo long but remember having a fucking blast with it. |

Anyone here should definitely check out the Redux mod if you haven't. It's probably the best mod for the game and almost makes it an entirely different game. You can get every single card now, there's new starter decks and all duels have been completely changed, among other things. It can get pretty challenging but it's also very rewarding. I don't think there will ever be a remake but Redux is still worth playing.

Demon of the Fall
03.08.23 | playing on a phone just generally sounds like ass tbh, the screens are too small for a start...
unless you hook it up to a telly or something, but that sounds cumbersome / inconvenient, perhaps? idk these things |
nightbringer
03.08.23 | I mean, phone screens are typically bigger than the screens of most historic handhelds. They're bigger than all Gameboy screens, bigger than any individual screen of the DS/3DS. Obviously, consoles like the PS2 weren't designed for handheld screens. But unlike PC games, they were designed to be played at a distance from a screen - the distance between couch and TV - so the UI and important details are quite visible. They tend to scale down to handheld size quite well imo. Obviously, using a touch screen is crap for most console games but that's where a clip-on controller comes in.
@Feather - another option, if the problem is just not having permission to install apps on your work laptop, is just to run portable versions of emulators that do not require installation. E.g. you can slap a portable version of PCSX2 on a USB stick. |
Demon of the Fall
03.08.23 | yeah, I meant the size would be an issue due to games not being designed for the smaller screens. In terms of their actual physical size, modern phones aren't small (vs historical handheld gaming devices).
Wouldn't the controls be a pain in the backside as well though? I was thinking of this also, but forgot to mention it. |
Asdfp277
03.09.23 | would depend on the game, some use a lot of buttons others don't. this one does though lol, but if u don't have a computer, well, a phone's an alternative ! |
