01.26.23 | @nol yeah I've beaten it a few times. I actually got the platinum on ps4. I'm using the expert sphere grid this time because it let's you change characters "roles" way koeasier. You can get tidus in aurons grid, kimahri in rikkus at the start for example. One you get to Seymour Flux it's when the game gets serious about bosses and you gotta work out strategies a bit on the fly. Zanarkand keeper is the boss I'm pretty sure you're referring too and iirc he uses a ton of buffs and debuffs so shit like dispel is what you need to keep him from overwhelming you. Fwiw people have playthroughs without using the sphere grid at all so there's a ton of ways to cheese the game (mostly revolving around using rikkus mix) and I def wouldn't play again without a cutscene skip but that's just on pc for some reason. I'm at the thunder plains now so about halfway through the game atm. |

That's still a great CPU even today. You'll really only bottleneck in a few CPU intense games, maybe like the loading sequences of No Man's Sky. That can play nearly anything on high/max settings when paired with a 3 series card.
@pjquinones747
Skyrim: Kill 10 Bears
Oblivion: We need you to discover and oust an all-female gang that has been humiliating the men in our village. They tempt them with sex, then lure them up to to the abandoned cottage to strip them naked and then they rob them blind. The men are all too scared to come forward and admit that they tried to cheat on their wives but instead got robbed by a group of ladies. Oh, and if you're a female character yourself then the gang will even try to recruit you too. |

This shows why people without knowledge shouldn't talk about PC parts. Even at 720p, almost every game today when paired even with a 980 isn't CPU limited. So saying "a 30 series" further reinforces that point. CPU bottlenecks on the low-mid range are a thing of 10 years ago and haven't been an issue for years. EVEN a 3rd Gen i5 is capable of 60fps in most games today. And that cane be shown time and time again online |

01.27.23 | Yeee never really worried about my cpu until I saw dead spaces reqs, I don't have much interest in other triple a games so wasn't planning to upgrade anytime soon. I've never been worried about resolutions so it's been fine for everything I've thrown at it so far, buuut 60bucks is a bit of a gamble lol. I've got an even older i7-860 and it also runs most moderner stuff fine(aslong as it's got all the nessisary CPU instructions). My whole rational was it's not worth getting a budget CPU/modern i3 because it'd only be like a marginal increase over my current rig. If I did get a new CPU it's prolly be like a 300bux i7/Ryzen. I wiiish I had gotten a 1060 ti instead but I bought the 1050ti when it was 110bux, I was shocked to see it upcharged to 300s a year or two ago, it's an underwhelming card tbh but works well enough. If it's on ea play/gamepass might try launching it as is, my hdds are probably a bigger bottleneck than my cpu tho lol |

Not sure how that is speaking without knowledge, unless I missed something earlier in the conversation. I'm speaking from experience, that specific CPU and older models do have problems with the loading sequences of No Man's Sky, which are CPU rendered, not GPU. There are other games out there that are CPU-intensive during gameplay but they're likely limited to script heavy indie games made in old ass RPG Maker engines. My second comment was to imply exactly your point - that it really doesn't matter, you can use any GPU really to do the heavy lifting in nearly all modern games. |

01.30.23 | criticisms of the late game of elden ring seem to just wave away the fact that miquellas hallaigtree and faram azula are two of the better legacy dungeons with some of the best bosses, and that the final run of bosses is also very good. The open world side of the game takes a dive, for sure, particularly in the tundra areas, but I get the feeling they wanted to make it more linear and direct as part of the urgency / climax of the story after the capital. Like if you were fucking around in side dungeons for 50 more hours after that point the pacing would feel off. |

I actually completely disagree with this, I don't see too many of the similarities between Village and re4 except that one village siege.

I actually felt Elden Ring is good all the way through for the first playthrough, doing all the content, but repeat playthroughs haven't enticed me at all. It's much better with an enemy and item randomizer mod installed. Especially without enemy scaling, I ended up with Radagon instead of Margit and holy heck that was rough..
"also recently finished The Last of Us 2. I know it pissed a lot of people off but for me it was one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I've ever had. so good"
Amazing game. 10/10.

01.30.23 | RE Village is one of the best RE games ever made, VII was incredible, but I think somehow they made VIII even better.
Elden Ring was a masterpiece, but yeah by end game it gets to be a tad of a slog. I honestly think they could have made the game shorter and more succinct, but it was so fun just to run around and kill stuff and the atmosphere was so incredible, the length (end game) didn't ruin it for me. I do think it's a valid criticism. I think the problem with the length for me was that it turned me off from repeat plays, and I didn't really get that feeling from any previous SoulsBornes.
|
AsleepInTheBack
01.30.23 | Elden Ring lacks replay value for sure, at least compared to the other souls games (I could play bloodborne forever honestly), but it’s built into the design (same reason I can’t replay breath of the wild and it saddens me so much) |

It literally brings back tetris attache case inventory, has the same currency system, with a mysterious merchant that can also upgrade your gun levels, shooting jewels off ceilings, action-oriented gameplay with enemy loot drops, a non-virus infection that plagues a random obscure European village, key items and treasures in their own slot, using furniture to temporarily barricade, and the entire plot is saving a little girl. |

01.31.23 | Darkest Dungeon brother in the house. ffs, I just started a couple weeks ago and I'm absolutely loving it. I had avoided playing it for so long because I heard it was "too hard". I definitely struggled to figure out wtf I was doing the first day and kept using wrong classes in wrong positions and really not understanding the mechanics. Even then it was somehow frustrating but also really fun. I've started to experiment more, and I think i'm understanding a little better wtf i'm supposed to be doing. Either way, it's an absolute gem. |
ffs
01.31.23 | its quality, big fan of the art, the narrator and the general vibe. i think playing for hours and hours and making what feels like 0 net progress is the quintessential darkest dungeon noob experience, i did exactly the same. its the kind of game where learning from your fuckups is still fun, i wouldnt call it a hard game exactly but there are a crazy amount of variables to consider and you need to seriously grind to have guys that will stand a chance in later dungeons. it is extremely satisfying when you find good synergies and just crush an enemy or boss who previously wrecked your shit though.
other than familiarising yourself with the classes and enemies i think the biggest hurdle is not getting too attached to your guys, especially for levels like 1-3 you should just dismiss anyone who has really shit quirks/excessive stress because they'll hold you back. save all your gold to upgrade the wagon, guild and blacksmith rather than waste it destressing deadweights. always have a blast playing but i tend to only play in binges, usually i'll lose a legendary hero to some brutal rng or dumb misplay and it puts me off playing for a month or two |
DungeonBoy
01.31.23 | Yeah I have like 4 or 5 members up to level 3, and I'm so afraid of losing them at this point lol. But yeah it's not that it's hard per se, it's that if you make a bad decision you feel the weight of that bad decision and there's no returning from a serious F up. I absolutely love the atmosphere though, the narrator, the music, the art-style, just the absolute oppressive feeling at times. It really is a masterpiece, I've never played anything like it. |

It's not nearly as fun as the old or new games where you have that rewarding blowing crap up vibe throughout, but it has a certain charm to it worth at least checking out. 02.13.23 | yes, Ryus!!!
I got two very interesting relics early on, which kind of synergized very well, Prayer Wheel that gives an additional card reward every combat, which helped me build a nice deck very quick and Snecko Eye, that increased the number of cards I drew on the beginning of a combat, but randomized the cost of them, considering I had a bunch of 2~3 energy cards, sometimes I was able to get 3 energy power cards, or other 2 energy cards for free. I also had a relic that reduced the cost of a random card to 0 every time I used a power card, which helped a lot too. |

02.15.23 | been playing me:andromeda the past couple nights. it's okay-ish but pales in comparison to the original trilogy. honestly just makes me wanna try no man's sky when i see it on sale |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.15.23 | Andromeda is literally just a byproduct of that Joss Whedon type of writing that we all got tired of around a decade ago. Like god damn I took days off work and skipped classes to play that game and it’s just so fucking mediocre.
It’s a fucking shame honestly, aside from not having any control over your squad mates and no power wheel, it’s by far the best of them when it comes to gameplay.
Hopefully this new mass effect plays like andromeda and is actually well written. |
kevbogz
02.15.23 | kek i picked it up on sale for like $10 so i can't complain too hard. the combat is neat and difficult scales well, but the plot is just..... mid. like u said i've played this story idk how many times before in my life |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.15.23 | It’s not really even just the writing the more I think about it.
Like, this is a whole new galaxy you’re discovering. The only thing that felt like it didn’t belong in the milky way is Habitat 7. The rest of the planets could’ve been in the original trilogy and nobody would know the difference. Going to a completely new galaxy should’ve let them go wild with it, but instead we get a generic desert planet, a generic snow planet, a generic plant planet etc etc. and only one new race? Come on man.
I’m ranting, I just love the original trilogy so much and Andromeda was just such a disappointment. Worth playing, especially for $10, but man, even like 6 years on it still pisses me off. |

02.26.23 | Horizon Zero Dawn was awesome. Horizon Forbidden West was near flawless. One of my favorite game franchises.
Mass Effect Andromeda wasn't as bad as people were trying to say, but it wasn't anywhere near the Trilogy. That is my favorite game franchise, right there. I still play the whole thing once a year (with mods now to skip the tedious mini games).
I just finished Far Cry 3 and it wasn't up to the hype. I also finished the Final Fantasy VII remake, and it was actually pretty good (never played the original) |
PotsyTater
02.26.23 | I tried really hard to enjoy andromeda. Played well past the exhaustion of my actual enjoyment just hoping something would change. It’s pretty damn bad |
Willie
02.26.23 | Part of it might be my love of the original trilogy, but I powered through it. I've played it three times to get through all the different options (or the majority, anyway). The biggest problem is the open world is empty. |
PotsyTater
02.26.23 | That is the biggest problem yeah. The gameplay and mechanics are good it’s just not an engaging open world experience and the tasks are too repetitive and thin |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.26.23 | I feel so validated rn.
I want to say the game is straight garbage, but there really are enough good elements there to make a good game. For one, BETTER WRITING. “My face is tired.” Like shut the fuck up. The only squad members names I remember are Vetra because she’s cool as fuck and Cora my Ryder smashed.
That’s it. I don’t even remember the Krogan. The game is aggressively medicocre |
PotsyTater
02.26.23 | Yeah characters were a lot more forgettable too. I was actually invested in the dialogue and choice making in the other ones but in this one I could not smash x through dialogue fast enough |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.26.23 | I’m not 100% certain, but I think a lot of it had to do with drew karpyshyn not being involved.
I’m not big reader, I maybe read 2 or 3 books a year, but his Mass Effect novels were phenomenal |
Demon of the Fall
02.26.23 | I didn’t play Andromeda after the disappointment of 3… was it that much worse? Wow |
PotsyTater
02.26.23 | Much much worse than 3 |
Willie
02.26.23 | Definitely worse than 3. They neutered the Krogan (the fight scene is pathetic), and the dropped the spy-vs-spy intrigue of the Salarian (just made them whiney and sneaky). Also, the protagonist isn't nearly as iconic as FemShep.
I will say that even though the ending is disappointing even after the update on 3, the other 30-40 hours is some of the best. |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.26.23 | lol 3 might be my favorite, at least after the extended cut released
SPOILERS FOR MASS EFFECT 3
People shit on the ending but viewing the whole game as the “ending” really changed my perspective on it.
Like there’s so many iconic moments in it. Mordin curing the genophage, Miranda’s whole arc involving her father, that moment on earth with Liara, making peace between the geth and quarians. I love that game. |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.26.23 | And ofc everything about Javik and the leviathans was fascinating |

02.26.23 | Haven't properly played a videogame in years.
Just bought Elden Ring on amazon. |
Willie
02.26.23 | @Wildcardbitchesss: Agreed. That's how I've always viewed it, too. Yeah, the Leviathan DLC fleshes out the story so much.
I have Elden Ring, but haven't played it yet. |
PotsyTater
02.26.23 | Have you played other fromsoft games willie |
Willie
02.26.23 | I haven't. I can't say I'm a fan of that Soulslike style (or whatever it's called), but I bought into the hype. I've only played Nioh 2 for something similar, and I loved it and hated it at the same time. |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.26.23 | As far as souls games go, I really only liked Sekiro and Bloodborne.
The dark souls games just feel like they move too slow, like I get the character is covered in armor but I want a little more mobility. Kinda why I’ve been hesitant on Elden Ring, because I’ve heard it’s closer to the souls games than Sekiro or Bloodborne |
PotsyTater
02.26.23 | I’ve only played the first Nioh so I can only make an approximated claim but I will say that as much as I did enjoy it as a souls inspired game it doesn’t tick all the boxes. A big part of what makes souls games great is how the world is built and connected and in Nioh you are just playing in isolated maps.
Elden Ring is probably a good starting point but the problem is that if it turns you into a fromsoft simp then it will probably ruin gaming for you
Very little hits the same after you get into dark souls lol. My attention span for new games has been severely crippled. |
PotsyTater
02.26.23 | @wildcard you have a lot more freedom over your build in Elden ring than dark souls, you can make a build that is like a bloodborne character and even have the quick step dodge mechanic. But also I think dark souls 3 combat was quickened a lot compared to 1 and 2 and Elden ring is probably even quicker than that. |
Wildcardbitchesss
02.26.23 | That really makes me want to try it out when it goes on sale. Dark Souls 3 is the only one I really made a dent in so maybe I’ll give Elden Ring a shot
That being said I have a huge backlog of games and not a lot of time. But I really think I might give it a shot now
Thx Potsy |
Willie
02.26.23 | Yeah, thanks. I did think it was weird that Nioh 2 was essentially just a series of video game levels instead of any kind of connected world. I also didn't like having to go back to previous levels to grind up before doing the next stage. At least Elden Ring is open.
I just finished Far Cry 3 and now I'm starting 4 (got a PS5 and PS+ for Christmas). I also want to try High On Life for Xbox. |
PotsyTater
02.26.23 | I actually just played far cry 4 recently, it was a blast. |
Willie
02.26.23 | I'm about 45 minutes into it. |
PotsyTater
02.26.23 | I’ve only played a couple of them so I don’t have the best baseline but I thought the villain was really great and it had the perfect amount of busy-work sidequests where you don’t get overwhelmed and bored (it helps that they are fun).
The weapon play is extremely satisfying, especially stealth options like the bow and arrow and sniper, hunting animals is a blast, and it gets really over the top and psychedelic at times. I was really surprised at how much fun I had. |
artiswar
02.26.23 | I'm just finishing up Resident Evil Revelations 2 and I love it, I had more fun with it than the last few mainline REs. Barry is awesome |

02.26.23 | tbh open world games are way too overwhelming for me anymore. I spend all day making decisions in a sandbox without ever knowing where I’m actually going, when I’m relaxing playing games I just wanna be told what to do and go do it. |
PotsyTater
02.26.23 | I feel the open world fatigue hard. When they are done well, it’s my favourite kind of game, but too often they are just littered and overwhelming. It’s funny that when they were becoming a thing, everyone just wanted them to be as MASSIVE as possible, but now that they are so common it’s more about paring things back and emphasis on quality over quantity. That’s why Elden ring and breath of the Wild are peak open world games for me |
PotsyTater
02.26.23 | Also why I think Witcher 3 is severely overrated |
artiswar
02.26.23 | I hate open worlds. Witcher 3 was good but the gameplay sucked so I got bored of it after doing a bunch of side missions. |
Willie
02.26.23 | For me it's the opposite, I want to be able to just meander around the world and maybe do a handful of things before I have to quit. I don't want to have to finish a level or get to a checkpoint or whatever before I can stop. |

JohnnyoftheWell
02.27.23 | "It's something halfway between the all-or-nothing parries from Dark Souls or Elden Ring and the more forgiving perfect blocks from Sekiro. Your requisite Soulslike dodge is a jaunty little dash that, instead of providing precious invincibility frames, has to be timed with enemy attacks to open them up for a counterattack and raise their stagger meter for critical strikes.
It's much easier to pull off than a Fromsoft parry, but a short delay and increase to your own stagger gauge when you dodge without nailing a counter heavily penalizes spamming."

02.27.23 | 'tbh open world games are way too overwhelming for me anymore. I spend all day making decisions in a sandbox without ever knowing where I’m actually going, when I’m relaxing playing games I just wanna be told what to do and go do it.'
whoa, but open-worlds are MORE relaxing, no pressure to do ANYTHING. EVER. Wander around aimlessly or towards that 'interesting looking thing over there'. Bliss. If anything feeling like you need to complete section a) before doing section b) etc. feels restrictive and sometimes you just want to mess around achieving nothing substantial, or at least not purposefully doing so.
Hmm, just realised why these game speak to me. I'm a lazy procrastinating sod irl as well. |
Demon of the Fall
02.27.23 | I totally get why you'd feel the opposite, because linear progression doesn't give you the option, so there's literally no decision making progress. I just find that less relaxing, as I cannot choose to do something 'less intensive' if I so wish |

03.08.23 | yeah fuck it dude the more I think about andromeda just straight up sucks. The gameplay is it’s only saving grace and even then it’s not nearly good enough for me to put up with the drab open world planets, losing control of your squadmates and power wheel, and most of all, the absolute dogshit writing.
It’s not just bad because it doesn’t live up to the trilogy, it’s just bad.
I really hope they don’t drop the ball on ME4 |

03.08.23 | ehh to me andromeda was a 7/10 game that was a 3/10 mass effect game, but i'm also a sucker for any kind of lore/content so take that with a grain of salt

03.08.23 | no those games just suck. don’t mean to sound like an ass but I hate the direction Assassins Creed went in. I loved 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations back in the day but anything past that ranges from decent to horrible imo. I didn’t bother with Valhalla.
Haven’t played Elden Ring, and same I’m totally waiting for a sale. Don’t really fuck with the Dark Souls games, but I love Sekiro and Bloodborne, and I’ve heard the Elden Ring is closer to the souls games but I’m still willing to give it a shot for the right price. |

and yeah Assassin's Creed was great for a while, but I also lost interest. The last one I played was AC3. The Egypt one was appealing from an aesthetical point of view (is this Odyssey?) but it'd likely disappoint in reality. |
PotsyTater
03.08.23 | I got assassins creed origins a couple years ago on sale out of curiosity because I hadn’t played one of those games since like…. The first one and I love Egyptian shit. Anyways it sucked. |

03.08.23 | I’ve been replaying The Evil Within b/c I never beat it but never has game enthralled me and pissed me off in the same measure. Often at the same time. Great atmosphere and set pieces but there’s a lot of cheap moments. When I booted it up i started on easy then about 4 hours in I started a new game on normal b/c I didn’t feel like I was getting to the “heart” of the game, so it’s doing something right. |
PotsyTater
03.08.23 | I played both evil within games last year, I liked them |
DavidYowi
03.08.23 | Good to know. I played a little bit of The Evil Within 2 and was worried it sanded off the edges that I liked about The Evil Within 1. Am definitely gonna beat TEW2 after I beat 1 |
PotsyTater
03.08.23 | 1 is better imo but 2 is definitely worth playing still, very different experience |
Wildcardbitchesss
03.08.23 | I don’t play a lot of horror games (as in I’m just picky as fuck when it comes to them), but The Evil Within 2 is way better than the first. I still don’t love them, it’s really got that Japanese corniness thing going on that a lot of those games do.
I’m usually fine with movies and games being corny, but when I’m shitpants terrified one second because of a good boss fight with great character design, and then just rolling my eyes because of bad writing or some dumb story beat, it just makes the horror aspect less effective imo. |
PotsyTater
03.08.23 | Idk man for me the improved gameplay and well incorporated open world aspects in 2 come with the caveat that the aesthetic choices of 1 that made me like it are not as immersive. So I guess it just depends on what you liked about the series. |
pjquinones747
03.08.23 | Started yet another Elden Ring save. This time to fully commit to a Faith build and try to main spellcasting. Good run so far. Also finally picked up Super Mario Odyssey to give Mario games a try for the first time since SM64 |
Wildcardbitchesss
03.08.23 | I can see that potsy. And maybe it’s just the time that I played them (during the first covid shutdown), like the first one just felt so old. Playing the second one, like almost immediately, I was like this is so much better.
But again, they weren’t really my cup of tea. Just bored and had too much time on my hands.
Now horror games I do love, Alien Isolation with the mother VR mod. That was fucking incredible. |
DavidYowi
03.08.23 | That sounds fucking terrifying. I still haven’t played Alien Isolation, which is weird for me considering how much I love the Alien franchise, but would love to play it. I’m getting a gaming pc soon so maybe that will be one of the first games I play on it |

03.08.23 | replaying Control and Alan Wake |

03.08.23 | It was and honestly the game holds up.
When you do play it, there’s an early encounter with humans that had me put the game off for months. Fighting humans fucking sucks in that game, but it’s few and far between. It’s mostly you vs the alien. And they absolutely nail the aesthetic. It looks like it was ripped straight out of the 80’s. |
PotsyTater
03.08.23 | @wildcard yeah I was forgiving of the “old game jank” because the first game had a lot of pretty evident twin peaks influence and that appeals to me |

03.08.23 | Started resident evil 6 and so far, it's aight kinda pissed I'd avoided it because of the gamespot 4.5 review. Because if it’s the latter, holy shit that game is huge. |

03.22.23 | Demon of the Fall. I am not a Tales of savant heh, but Tales of Berseria rules! I've not tried Arise. I've been playing Ender Lillies. Got it during the spring sale. 03.22.23 | Oblivion was an unbelievable achievement at the time but it’s a bit dated now, especially the combat system which gets boring very quickly
Still some great immersive storylines and quests though, if you can get over repetitive boring combat you’ll have a lot of fun! |
Demon of the Fall
03.22.23 | 'Demon of the Fall. I am not a Tales of savant heh, but Tales of Berseria rules!'
it certainly does. I've only played that one, Zestiria and parts of Vesperia and Berseria is the one that makes me hope they have another great game in them. I've put a lot of hours into it, did NG+ and explored everything I could. The combat system can be somewhat repetitive but honestly that suited me and you can always mix it up by using a different player-controlled character. |
Demon of the Fall
03.22.23 | I've attempted playing Oblivion twice. The first time was pre-Skyrim (just) as I wanted to try it before the new ES dropped and it felt dated then. Playing it post-Skyrim was actually better (weirdly), even though it had dated further due to playing the next iteration in the series first. By then I'd also accepted that it was going to look / play like shit and I was in it for the lore and exploration. Already having an investment in the series helped massively.
I didn't ever finish it mind. |

03.22.23 | almost finished my rerun of all of nv with dlcs having just started dead money again (worst dlc so left it last but its fine) - save file is now at 130 hours and ive been max level now since 80 hours about, which kinda gets repetitive unfortunately and meant i've been putting it off |

03.22.23 | playing Far Harbour expansion for Fallout 4 like the plebeian casual I truly am
It was suitably atmospheric for a late evening beer + music combo and honestly, that's all I wanted it for. The environment / aesthetic is more appealing than the main game. |

Wildcardbitchesss
03.22.23 | I’ve tried to get into New Vegas because I hear the storyline is so good but the gameplay just feels dated as hell at this point. Even with mods I only made it like maybe 10 hours into it. I’ll have to try it again some time. |

I'm definitely sput's resident Fallout stan... FH is a great addition to FO4! Honestly it is (to me) required viewing if FO4 is on the table. Nuka World has some fun locations and ambiance but the core mechanic is very bleh. I tend to like any and all, though, because I get so much enjoyment from the locational lore, exploration, atmosphere, etc.
@sin
The internet fucking lloovveess Dead Money and I think that it is partially interested but entirely too tedious for the intrigue to matter much... Absolutely adore Big MT and the other two are quite fun as well.
@wildcard
yeah the gameplay was dated when it originally came out LOL still love those games, though. |
Demon of the Fall
03.22.23 | yeah, I've shamelessly dumped 400 hours into Fallout 4, yet never touched Far Harbour before. Pleased that I saved it for now in a way though. I'd still say F4 doesn't compare to F3 or FNV, but in reality 3 is actually quite barren from a content perspective. That game is 100% a nostalgia-fuelled engrossing atmospheric setting / world with shoddy gameplay, lol. Technically F4 is much better in that regard and has an absolute ton of (genuine) content, yet loses a lot of points for being more of a shooter than an RPG (no stat points?!)
What I'd give for a proper up-down remake of FNV, that game runs like crap but the factions / decision-making / consequences aspect of that one elevates it over the others in many ways. |
PitchforkArms
03.22.23 | Absolutely - on all points.
My friend and I were actually talking about it, and there is a amount of dollars that I would pay for NV in a better engine and I shamelessly admit that the amount is very very close to 4-figures... |

03.22.23 | Dude my high school issued iPad’s as well and the Plague Inc. craze hit hard. I remember the boyz huddling around a single iPad in study hall to take turns… mems. Then there was the flappy bird epidemic, and the time someone figured out an easy way to get gba emulators working on the school iPads and EVERYONE was playing Pokémon fire red or leaf green. Like you couldn’t use the urinal because someone was just camping out skipping class and playing pocket monsters with dicks out |
Demon of the Fall
03.23.23 | whoa, sounds insane, bound to happen I suppose if you're going to issue iPads etc. haha. There wasn't really much you could do on those old bricks or flip phones, bit of snake and the likes etc. was about it. Sounds like a nightmare for schools now, bet all the kids are on their phones in class.
closest we ever got to that sort of thing was when we installed Unreal Tournament on the desktops in 6th form (that's 17/18 yo, which isn't 'compulsory' in the U.K) and I think that was actually allowed, because we had 'down-time' and were given certain privileges by that point. |

03.23.23 | Dewi, can you remind us of your involvement in RE? Do you think it needed a remake? I grew up when RE1 was first released, and I get the quality of life improvements for the RE, RE2, and RE3, remakes to get rid of tank controls and opt for the over the shoulder aspect of.. RE4.. but idk how I feel about there being a remake of it. Like i'm stoked to check it out, but did it really need one in the same way the previous 3 did? Curious what your thoughts are |

Oblivion is a lot of fun. It can feel very samey looking but on the PC with some mods you can spruce the locales up and the actual guilds are great. I always play these games first on console for some reason and that was my first experience of Oblivion. Why does Skyrim have to have some nicer more varied locations but then almost all the guilds except for the Dark Brotherhood (I heard that was cool) seem like ass and so short. |

03.29.23 | I actually installed a mod on the PC where you can have the NPCs not be shoved in your face in all their buttery glory, even with improved faces. Why did they think yeah our face models are so good we want you to see just that and a little neck. Oblivion is fun how you can just do these little things to increase your stats to no end without any effort, like sneaking. I forget it might cap your leveling but it won't cap your skill gain. Oh yeah because as you level the shit around you level so that's why you could find dirty bandits wearing expensive armor. Morrowind was the best haha
Also I have played a little Skyrim Dark Brotherhood I just never got far in it. |

03.29.23 | Let me dump names in my deathc. I should try Dragon Quest XI S someday. I am really interested in Lost Odyssey but that is a straight up Xbox 360 only. Kinda like how Rockstar is like yea I like we lost the code for RDR1. I have that for my PS3. Earthbound I think like Final Fantasy 4 I am worn out on, but great games. |
Wildcardbitchesss
03.29.23 | Dead Space 3 is fine, it got a ton of hate but it’s not a bad game at all. Playing it co op was a ton of fun back in the day.
Having said that, the original has better scares and the 2nd has better action. Again, still a good time but the first two are some of the greatest games ever made. And the remake is fucking incredible. There was one part I got stuck on because the objectives list was kind of shit. I was wandering around like a dipshit because my objective marker was turning me in circles. Only time I caved and looked up how to get through it.
Playing Ghost of Tsushima now on PS5. Only a couple of hours in but it’s some good shit. Kinda feels like Sekiro lite even on hard but I don’t wanna play something that’s going to kick my ass all of the time.
Next up is gonna be the Miles Morales Spiderman. Then I’ll probably spend a month playing Horizon Forbidden West, I’m trying to time it so I can start that game as the DLC comes out. Mostly because the DLC in Zero Dawn was definitely the best part of the game. |
Deathconscious
03.29.23 | @punker did you play the first edition of DQXI? I ended up going with the original because the graphics took a hit on the S version. Lost Odyssey has awesome turn based combat, but unfortunately the characters and writing are mediocre imo.
@wildcard i loved the first two, but I can see why DS3 is the black sheep, it definitely feels like a downgrade. Not far enough to make a real judgement though. |
Wildcardbitchesss
03.29.23 | The main villain kind of sucks, and the love triangle shit between Isaac, Ellie, and whatshisname is kind of stupid.
Aside from that tho, the story is good. Gameplay is great. It’s just more of an action game than a horror game. |

03.29.23 | @Wildcard Ghost of Tsushima is sweet. Easy platinum too. |

03.29.23 | Yeah I’m having a really good time with it so far. I tried the Japanese with English subtitles but it’s so different from movies.
I always choose the original over some shitty English dub but it’s too much to focus on not dying while reading the subtitles. I had to switch back to English before I even got finished with the tutorial part. |
PunkerBlast
03.29.23 | Easiest Platinums on PS4. 13:Sentinels: Aegis Rim. You can do this on a straight run blind on normal though one of those fights to get an S is trickier and a jerk but there is literally one fight that is tough.
Steins;Gate 0 is easy too. I played these on PC and I was like wtf I need this. So there was a call you can just turn down, so since I save a lot it took me fiver for that. It was a very particular call. But I don't take care about total completion usually. |

started off doing stealth build, has kinda evolved into energy weapons now. once you get to the level 50 cap you can basically max every skill but two anyway. far harbor is a lot of fun and goes a little way to suggesting bethesda could make an actually great fallout game if they wanted/cared
"@sin

i've seen very divisive discussions about it, but i still think it's good fun. the collar mechanicas get very annoying past a certain point though and basically forces you to quicksave every two minutes. the ghosts aren't particularly fun to fight either, especially the spear ones who headshot you and wipe a third of your hp far too regularly for a dlc which strips all your items and has a mass scarcity of healing pickups. but i do like the companions a lot. old world blues would be my favourite but the fucking roboscorpions are annoying as shit and are way too strong. lonesome road is probs my fave, not only does it tie together all the little lore from the other dlcs and the main game, but it's the closest fallout has ever got to an action horror and it suits that aesthetic so well. |
