archit3uthis 01.24.23	@Sowing – I add quite a few new releases to the database in the -core genres that make up my usual listening orbit. Does sputnik have in-house guidelines for what differentiates an "album" from an "EP"? At Spotify, for example, 1–6 tracks is an EP, 7+ tracks is an album. Elsewhere, sometimes XX minutes is sufficient to tip a release over into "album" territory, even if there are fewer tracks. Just curious if there's a rule of thumb for sputnik. Thank you!
Sowing 01.25.23	No written-in-stone rule. Usually we just go by what is listed officially by the artist, and if there's no official word, then we either go with the consensus of other websites or by personal feel. A lot of it boils down to overall length. Some black metal albums are 3-4 tracks but are an hour long (LP). Other punk albums might be 6 tracks long but only 12-18 mins (EP). So, in short, use your best judgment!

arf 01.28.23	https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=445142 This is a single (well & a B side, both are album tracks), probably OK to delete @archit3uthis, usually the most important info regarding EP or LP is how it sits in the rest of the artist's discography: for example a lot of electronic artists might have 60-70 minute LPs of 7-8 tracks and then an EP of 4 tracks that is however 35 minutes long. In some cases they're explicitly called EPs but usually in comparison to the rest discography you can make a call like that. EPs might also be padded with a decent amount of bonus tracks which are however covers or alternate versions, up to ~40minutes, but there's only ~20 minute / 4-5 tracks of "real" new material.
