Dewi's Dungeon // January 20th

Hello, hello, hello, yes, yes I know you've been waiting for a new edition of D's D for days now, days that felt like months, months that felt like years, years that felt like centuries and in the end, all i got was 10 albums release this week in the realm of Death, Black and Doom metal with some bits of Stoner/Heavy Psych, Prog or some other surprise here and there. Let's get to the goods:
1Tribunal (CAN)
The Weight Of Remembrance

Country: Canada
Genre: Traditional Doom
Label: 20 Buck Spin

The surprise of the week. Incredible album, atmospheric, beautifully executed and a treat for fans of My Dying Bride, Candlemass and 90s flavoured doom.
The Abyssal Plain

Country: US
Genre: Black Metal / Crust
Label: Prosthetic

And a second favorite of this week is this band from Iowa. Think of Devil Master but way more caustic and extreme with a lady that screams like a hobgoblin in heat. Filthy, crusty, fast and heavy. Working on a review for this one.
3Inherits the Void
The Impending Fall Of The Stars

Country: Italy
Genre:Atmospheric Black Metal / Avantgarde / Doom
Label: Avantgarde Music

I think this is the third album from this Italian one man project. Really interesting take on atmoblack with as much violence as ambience.

Country: US
Genre:Death Metal
Label: Everlasting Spew

From Minneapolis, absolutely crushing OSDM which our chef has already reviewed just yesterday so click on that thumbnail and give it a read.
5Pyramid Mass

Country: US
Genre:Black Metal / Death Doom
Label: Self released

I mean look at that goddamn cover. Spacy blackened death with a fair dose of doom. First track is an absolute monster.
6Imperium Dekadenz
Into Sorrow Evermore

Country: Germany
Genre: Black Metal
Label: Napalm

To be honest with you, I wasn't going to include this one because I wasn't too sold on the production at first but the songs, the album itself is so good that it had to be included. 8th release from the German BM veterans.
7Oak Pantheon
The Absence

Country: US
Genre: Folk / Black / Death / Groove Metal
Label: Self released

Oh look another band from Minneapolis. I've seen this band compared to Agalloch in some places, not entirely sure that can be applied to this album because this one's hard to catalogue. Check for yourself.
Repulsive Nature

Country: US
Genre: Death Metal
Label: Translation Loss

Another face melting death metal record landed in the dungeon this week. First full length of this band from Seatlle after a split in 2021 with Deconsecration.
9Lord Mountain
The Oath

Country: US
Genre: Heavy Metal / Stoner Doom
Label: King Volume

Stoner doom from California exploring that same vein of revival metal that bands like Sumerlands did last year. I am not entirely sold on the vocals, but I am hoping they grow on me. Big Sabbath energy.
10Negative Vortex
Tomb Absolute

Country: Brazil
Genre: Death Metal
Label: Sentient Ruin Laboratories

Astral Moon didn't deliver so I've swapped them with this absolute DM gem that I had on the backburner for today. Didn't expect it was this good. Features Nick Holmes on spoken word on one track plus other features. Props to this duo cause this thing is just disgustingly good.
