06.10.22 | really great decade for music | JKing92
06.10.22 | To each their own, Zak, but I totally disagree. Maybe it comes from growing up during the 2000s, but I thought it was pretty damn great.
Ten of my favorites of the decade (following the one artist per album criteria):
Deftones - White Pony
Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
Green Day - American Idiot
Kanye West - Late Registration
Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon: The End of Day
Lady Gaga - The Fame
Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero
Outkast - Stankonia
System of a Down - Toxicity
Tool - Lateralus | JKing92
06.10.22 | Looking at my list, I think that the inclusion of The Fame on there is actually a pretty important touchstone -- as someone who had come out as bisexual (relatively) not too long before he heard it, I think that album helped me through the rampant, edgy homophobia that I encountered (and even faced, on multiple occasions) as someone who was in middle school and the first half of high school during the 2000s. Not that it was the only album that helped me through that period of my life, but it was definitely the most important one in a contemporary sense. |
