04.21.22 | Got another weigh-in today, so hopefully things have progressed since that last one. I will say, my pants have been slipping off me a lot lately :]
Also, I figured this could be a good thread for any of you to share your journeys as well |
Colton
04.21.22 | nice man. how much have you lost so far? |
Koris
04.21.22 | 20 pounds so far. I've definitely been noticing the fat loss in my waist and neck before anywhere else, but considering the waist is the most important measurement for the Navy's weigh-in process, I can't complain much about that

Purpl3Spartan
04.21.22 | Hey man, congrats on your progress and good luck on the rest! |
notagenius
04.21.22 | It took me 3 months to lose 8kg. (17,6 pounds)
The only thing I did was to stop taking processed products, snacks and beverages, only eat freshly cooked food. I am still going on and hope to lose another 8kg in the next 3 months |
Koris
04.21.22 | @Purpl3: Thank you!
@notagenius: Nice! And that's what I've been doing too. My freezer has a giant stockpile of chicken breasts, thighs, and steaks; as far as snacks go, I also have some pretty healthy options out here. One of my favorites has been Quest Chips, which are keto-friendly tortilla chips that still taste really good |

04.21.22 | nice work man, im currently doing a big cut too started off at 185 at the end of march and aiming for 140-150 by middle of july, i only weigh every fortnight but down to about 178 in the last one on the 10th. be interested to hear what you're doing for it.
i've mainly been committing to about 1600 calories a day + whatever extra allowance i get through exercise, kinda means I get a cheat day every other day when i do heavy cardio, usually on the off days I'll do a long walk anyway too so never really noticed much apart from substituting a few ingredients but its been pretty easy and it def feels nicer when medium tshirts fit properly haha |
Colton
04.21.22 | 20 pounds is awesome. if you lost 20 you can lose however much more you want. keep it up |
Sinternet
04.21.22 | ahh see you just replied that as i was typing, good work though man. i would def suggest getting some good cardio in though too, even if just walking, whenever i get back into the routine it just boosts my mood a million when i have all that natural stamina return and can run up stairs that my out of shape mates are left puffing at |
Koris
04.22.22 | Yeah, I've been integrating a lot more cardio as well. I've actually been doing virtual races on an app called Conqueror. You can finish the challenges at your own pace, but what's cool is that you get to "visit" real locations on the app as you go through the race. But there are also fictional locations; for instance, I'm currently going through the Shire from Lord of the Rings |

04.22.22 | great job so far! it's all diet dude. cut out beer/booze, eat lots of fish, red meat and veggies, low carbs and exercise

04.22.22 | "But there are also fictional locations; for instance, I'm currently going through the Shire from Lord of the Rings" getting on this asap.

Thanks guys! |
Sinternet
04.22.22 | looks like a fun app! i mainly just use strava but where i am atm its doing a terrible job of plotting my routes, i run a 5k every other day and atm its adding on up to an extra 600 metres and fucking over my pace scores. I don't know why because I have the route properly set up and stored on the app but its bloody annoying atm and ive just resorted to getting the old stopwatch out and manually adding an entry later. |
Colton
04.22.22 | yet sinternet is still too scared to accept my stairmaster challenge |

04.22.22 | Congrats and good luck as you keep it up! |

04.22.22 | Congrats, Koris! Hard going to lose it, but will make for a better life. |
Koris
04.22.22 | Hey, thanks for reminding me to update my list!
But yeah, my max waist size has been revised to 43 inches because of some dispute regarding my height (lol). So now I just need to lose 3 inches on the waist to pass my weigh-in :] |

04.25.22 | I typically go to bed slightly hungry because I stop eating many hours before bed time, and it works well. The key word is "slightly" as you don't want to be uncomfortable either. |
Koris
04.25.22 | ^ That's what I've been doing lately as well. I had chicken breast and green bell peppers for dinner last night at 6pm, and I didn't eat anything else before bed. Once I woke up, I was pretty hungry but not starving, and I wasn't bloated or anything like that. Felt good |
bgillesp
04.26.22 | Nice! A little bit of light cardio before breakfast will also burn fat directly too since there is less glycogen stored. Has to be low level, nothing more than getting slightly out of breath, to avoid burning muscle too though |
Gnocchi
04.26.22 | Didn't realise this was going on. Popping in to say I'm proud of you babe. Question though: In regards to the "must have specific waist measurement" part of the regulation etc etc - - what if: you're a naturally broad lad (hip bone to hip bone, not in the fat % kind of way). For example if you're a seven ft monster with a 4ft shoulder width and physics says the waist should match...wouldn't a "X" measurement be unrealistic, unhealthy, other adjective here? |
budgie
04.26.22 | try water fasting
i do it once in a while and my strength never dips significantly (but i dont do intense sessions while fasting either)
also if i haven't eaten in 5 days i'm always super productive for some reason. clean and organize everything like a tweaker |
Koris
04.27.22 | @Gnocchi: To be fair, my other areas have been losing a lot of fat as well. So even though the waist is my main goal from a Navy standpoint, the other areas of my body have been falling into place as well. I'm just using the waist measurement in particular since that's the area where I'm closest to matching the standards I need to hit |
Koris
04.27.22 | Also, though I haven't done another measurement recently, I thought I'd update everyone to say that I've lost 22 pounds overall from my starting weight :} |
bgillesp
05.19.22 | Missed seeing that last update, but congrats! Everything still going well? |
JeetJeet
05.19.22 | congrats on the progress fam! |
Koris
05.19.22 | Hey guys! So weight-wise I'm 30 pounds down overall now. I'll be doing a weigh-in to get taped tomorrow, but I suspect I'll have slimmed down quite a bit for this one. Fingers crossed! |
Purpl3Spartan
05.19.22 | Ayo that’s awesome! Congrats! |
Koris
05.19.22 | Thank you!
Right now it's been a combination of 4 things:
-Decent calorie deficit
-A drink I've made recently: water with lemon, ginger, and cayenne pepper to help suppress appetite and burn fat during workouts
-Running around the track near my place, immediately followed by 30 minutes in the sauna
-Not eating anything after 6-6:30pm

05.19.22 | I didn't eat for 4 days writing my dissertation. |

05.19.22 | so i did water fast similar things. |
notagenius
05.19.22 | It has reduced my waistline greatly in a short time. It's only body water for it recovers quickly, but it might still help when you do your check-up. |

05.19.22 | Yeah! man, you got it, you did it, you will pass, go for the last little stretch, hang tight, awesome, superb result, all of that, fucking deserve. Big Congrats! |
