trying september

using the site as an actual resource instead of a place to say tool sucks. these are all the records which were above 3.7 for the month on sputnik and my initial reactions
21Lamp of Murmuur
Submission and Slavery

do i really wanna listen to a black metal album with this title tbh
20Hans Zimmer

won't be listening to anymore of this abusive gatekeeper cunt's music thanks

just quietly putting this back on the shelf and trying not to think about it
18The Felice Brothers
From Dreams to Dust

storyteller rock country stuff i don't care about
17The Wildhearts
21st Century Love Songs

rock n roll i don't care about, sounds like fucking status quo at times
Marching in Time

modern metal i don't care about
15Trophy Scars
Astral Pariah

saw this was rated One Million on this site so i kept flipping through track by track trying to find something i enjoyed and ummm it sounds country n western blues guys down the pub watching wrestling, DEEPLY not for me
14Clarence Clarity
Vanishing Act I: No Nouns

rnb glitch stuff i never wanna hear again, had a really bad time :)))))))))))))
13Invent Animate
The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was

there's some echoey bits and interludes but nothing can disguise how much i dislike metalcore, stupid band name, 1
To All Sides They Will Stretch Out Their Hands

beds of ambient sound... when it comes to ambient music i just check work by people i know cos i receive it as personal reflection music, generally find it a very hard artform to consider otherwise, could be a masterpiece for all i know
11Inferi (USA)
Vile Genesis

Vile Genesis - "Hey my babe, your supper isn't waiting for you" proggy tech dm stuff, fairly annoying and precocious, not into it one bit, 2.5 or under
10Abstract Void

synthy bm, tiny howls over uplifting progressions, kinda felt there were some 90s tracker scener/JMJ tendencies in it but not really for me
9Amyl and the Sniffers
Comfort To Me

nothingy punk, all in the lyrics, accompaniment somehow too solid and anonymous, wish it was sloppier, 3.0 or under

sparse n minor n folky with dream vox, s'nice but conventional, 3
Crepitation of Phlegethon

good? distantly recorded echoey trad dm, a genre i always check out and barely remember anything about. it has grim gurgly exhalations and riffs and blasts n stuff, and the songtitles are menacing and multisyllabic, probably a 3 to me
6Kero Kero Bonito
Civilisation II

cutesy bittersweet synth pop, tiny EP i can't really rate except thinking the short songs were too slick, but "well rested" is gnice
Psychedelic Realms ov Hell

cover is green and magenta, that's an instant high mark, very groovy dm, probably a bit silly and sci-fi
Hey What

overdriven soundz, i really liked double negative and this is still gorgeous but it feels a little simple, kinda the album that's claimed the last one's reputation without trying as hard, "cinematic" even before hearing, still a high 3
3Little Simz
Sometimes I Might Be Introvert

somehow i'm happiest with the rap and hiphop records on this list despite never growing up paying attention to the sound (i was one of those straight-up Britpop Only dumbasses for some reason, despite everything contemporaneous sounding better) this is really good & it just makes me wish i'd been listening harder all along, 4 at least
Lurkers in the Capsule of Skull

mega-atmospheric and really fun babbling mess im gonna have to delve into much further, the songs are deeeep and the blasts sit only where they work, not sure what to rate cos it's so coy but I love it. i hate to mention this but some of the extra effects on these tunes sound like Korn from around Issues times, however true or untrue that is, giggle, not judging
1Injury Reserve
By The Time I Get To Phoenix

experimental hip hop, so dense i can just nuzzle into this one and sleep toasty, don't know the story behind this cos i don't pay attention to anything, 4 anyway???? kinda love this. i find myself always loving messed-up/chopped n screwed/glitchy rap stuff and somehow never following up on listening, gonna buy this so that changes
