By the time that album came out, I had given up on Deftones making anything that could come close to the greatness of Around the Fur and White Pony, given how overrated I found Diamond Eyes and downright awful I found Koi No Yokan. Then Gore came out, and managed to eclipse everything they had done since White Pony (even Saturday Night Wrist, the sole album I stick with from the self-titled to Koi period), and thoroughly won me back over. While Ohms managed to better even that album, Gore remains one of my favorite albums they've ever done, which, considering that it came after the amorphous, mummified KNY, was all the more impressive.
