|bands without Bear in their name|
just things I've been checking out lately. meet me down at teh next I Love The Eighties night
Paradise of Replica
gentle compositions stuffed with millions of instruments, arriving at sort of a folk+chamber+teasingly operatic sound? a really distant satellite of prog rock and arty avant-garde stuff but it's just so friggin sumptuous. revealing. lovely. and Haco's a longterm amazing musician. think Fred Frith's on here, some snatches of guitar sound like they can only really be him. I remember obsessing over this album ten years ago and it's still amazing, has no review??
Electric Canticles of the Blacklight Braille
nice 'n poetic, recent discovery, the kind of thing I probably skipped over on Mutant Sounds in that era of music blogging. loud synths, bardic presentation, essentially two casette side-long tracks like an early Residents rekkid.
an album I've tried a bunch of times but finally got it just recently. observational gothy synth-pop from someone who's fully obsessed with the scene, I reckon. his voice is so addictive anyway.
long-term fan of this band, had no idea this EP existed lol. it rules, as you might guess
these guys suck but they have Bear in their name so I can end the list on a stupid note
|i wish i was a person with a Best of 2021 list but im actually a person with a "bands without Bear in their name" list and that'll have to do|
