Sowing's Week 3 Picks

Went 9-7 last week, I'm 19-13 on the year. Here's week 3 - list is digs.
1The Felice Brothers
From Dreams to Dust

Panthers 26, Texans 14 - This decision would have been a lot closer if Tyrod Taylor was healthy, but the prospect of rookie QB Davis Mills going against that ferocious Carolina pass rush has me widening the margin.
2Injury Reserve
By The Time I Get To Phoenix

Titans 30, Colts 23 - The Titans found their groove late against the Seahawks. Although Wentz has been playing okay, he simply doesn't have the weapons to keep up with a Titans team that finally appears to have hit its stride.
3Adrianne Lenker
songs

Giants 26, Falcons 23 - What a putrid matchup between two of the league's most talented offenses on paper as they continue to bafflingly underperform. I'll take the Giants at home I guess, but I don't have confidence that either of these teams can win.
4Fleet Foxes
Crack-Up

Chiefs 35, Chargers 32 - Whew, now this could be good. Two of the league's most talented offenses square off in a divisional tilt, and it truly could be anyone's game. I'm feeling a Mahomes/Reid rebound though, as the eek out a win against a surging LA Chargers team that is currently enduring a brutal opening schedule.
5Lightning Bug
A Color of the Sky

Steelers 24, Bengals 16 - The Steelers offense has looked pretty stale despite the addition of Najee Harris, who despite a nice 25 yard TD reception last week still hasn't quite gotten going. Lucky for them, the Bengals look worse. Pitt's defense will win this one handily even if their offense stagnates again.
6Sam Amidon

Browns 24, Bears 15 - Questions at QB abound for Chicago, but regardless of who takes snaps under center this week I still think the defense will allow them to hang around in this one. The Browns simply outclass them in pure talent though, so they'll pull away when it counts.
7Wilco
Ode to Joy

Ravens 30, Lions 20 - Give the Lions credit for playing with gusto in the first half versus Green Bay, but they just aren't there yet. They have the ability to jump out to a quick lead or catch up in garbage time, but it will take some time until they're able to put together complete games. The Ravens on the other hand just won their first game against the Chiefs in forever, and are flying high as a result.
8Julia Holter
Aviary

Patriots 22, Saints 17 - I like this as an ugly low scoring game. Winston will hand the Patriots the ball a few times as a result of NE's confusing coverage schemes, but Mac Jones will struggle against the Saints' defense as well. The Patriots emerge with the W at home thanks to a ball-control offense.
9The National
Sleep Well Beast

Cardinals 34, Jaguars 17 - Who should I start in my flex this week, Rondale Moore or Christian Kirk? Week 1 I started Moore and Kirk went off, last week I started Kirk and Moore went off. Clearly I'm cursed. Oh, sorry, my fantasy team is more interesting to the average reader than the merits of this mismatch. Cards roll.
10Shakey Graves
Can't Wake Up

Bills 31, Football Team 17 - Listen, I like the WFT. I even think Heinicke has potential as the team's QB for the remainder of the season. But the Bills are a different beast, and considering that Washington's defense hasn't looked nearly the same early as they did in 2020, I like Buffalo by a comfortable two score margin.
11The Antlers
In the Attic of the Universe

Broncos 23, Jets 14 - OK, so I might have been expecting a bit much of Zach Wilson by predicting him to be the key catalyst in an upset over the Patriots. In fact, he was the main reason they lost. Still, I think the kid has rare athleticism and can make throws that few other QBs can make, and one of these weeks it's gonna show. It won't be this week, against a top-tier defense and ball control offense that knows how to capitalize on turnovers.
12Jimmy Eat World
Integrity Blues

Raiders 30, Dolphins 23 - With Tua out, I don't expect much dropoff as the Fins bring out one of the league's best backup QBs in Jacoby Brissett. The Raiders have impressed early with wins over the Ravens and Steelers. While I think Miami could keep this close, I think Las Vegas keeps the good vibes rolling with a 3-0 start.
13Anberlin
Lowborn

Seahawks 33, Vikings 28 - This will probably be another high scoring affair between two great offenses, but in these back-and-forth shootouts, I trust Russell Wilson way more than Kirk Cousins to seal the deal.
14Taylor Swift
Folklore

Buccaneers 31, Rams 27 - Game of the week right here as we get the revitalized Rams and their savior Matthew Stafford versus the GOAT and possibly the strongest overall roster (both offensively and defensively) that I've ever seen. This won't be a cake walk, but I just can't picture Tom Brady losing to anyone right now.
15Yellowcard
Southern Air

Packers 27, 49ers 25 - The 49ers' defense looked scary good against the Eagles. If they can bring that same level of dominant play, then I think they might survive an Aaron Rodgers-led offense. They need to get the running game back on track, though - they only ran for a team total of 117 yards last week which won't cut it if they expect to chew up clock and keep A-Rod off the field.
16Alter Bridge
The Last Hero

Cowboys 27, Eagles 21 - The Cowboys are 1-1, but they've looked phenomenal across two games against playoff/superbowl caliber opponents (bucs, chargers). The Eagles dominated Atlanta as everyone does these days, and probably could have beaten the 49ers had they not shot themselves in the foot on that goal line 4th down call. Any mistakes like that this Monday night will lead to another loss against a Dallas team that gives you very little margin for error.
