07.30.21 | My house in Florida is always at 82, my house is old and doesn't hold air. It's like 95 here every day, I got another AC for my room and now I hardly leave my room |

07.30.21 | At least you don't have bedbugs. Pretty much the worst thing that can happen while living in an apartment. |

07.30.21 | Running Wild! I have 2 ACs running in two different rooms, electricity bill is gonna be unforgettable. |

07.30.21 | When I lived in Austria, basically nowhere had A/C aside from metro stations and the occassional store and restaurant because it was so expensive. There were a couple of weeks back in 2019 with 90+ heat where I'd leave my apartment and just hang out by the trains to get some relief. The US is all sorts of fucked up, but near-universal A/C is one thing that it gets right. I actually feel cold most of the time in the summer going grocery shopping, which is a massive contrast to completely sweating my balls off just to get a hand of bananas at Billa and Lidl. |

07.30.21 | Fan with a cool wash cloth over the front of it. Right on your fucking face.
It kinda works, but yeah man that sucks, look into a window ac unit if ya got windows in your bedroom |

07.30.21 | The windows in my room are specifically made so you CANT put an AC unit in them. Such horseshit |

07.30.21 | "Tried working on the AC for about an hour tonight, and seriously can't figure out what the fuck was wrong with it."
so your apartment has a unit but it's not working?
talk to your landlord and look up local legal requirements for apartments in your area, almost all are required to provide heat and most are required to provide AC
|

07.30.21 | if you're in Iowa, Ac is legally required by the landlord.. talk to him/her |

07.30.21 | I just hope the maintenance guy shows up tomorrow so I don't drown in my sleep. The coils keep freezing up, and we aren't sure why. |

07.30.21 | My apartment is a piece of shit in literally every way except for the fact that it has central air. First place I’ve had like this, so chill. I’m such a baby when it comes to ot weather |

07.30.21 | Third world countries have ceiling fans in every room even if they don't have ACs and it makes a world of a difference. I lived in Geneva during the heatwave of 2015 and (peak temperature ~40C/105F) and in New Delhi during the summer of 2016 (peak temp ~46C/115F) and the Swiss summer was more uncomfortable by far. I was showering 3 times a day just to be able to function in Geneva. By contrast I didn't even bother renting an AC unit for my (admittedly tiny and well shaded) Delhi apt because the ceiling fan was enough to keep me comfortable. |

07.30.21 | Sounds like it's time to kick back with a crispy cold faygo big 24 ouncer and listen to # 7 homie |
Sinternet
07.30.21 | i mean in most of europe not only is there no ac unless it's a managed building or a super new building, but apart from mediterranean countries most houses are built in a way that conserves heat rather than airs it out. it's why here in the uk 28c is fucking awful - 80-100% humidity, no ac and heat gets trapped indoors |

07.30.21 | ACs are a major reason for global warming. If you want to be cool, stop using ACs. |

07.30.21 | no electricity when |

07.30.21 | If it's any consolation I worked 3rd shift for a summer with no ac. Sleeping everyday at peak temps and working all night. Don't miss those days.
Hope you get some ac soon |

07.30.21 | this is the type of problem I didn't fully appreciate or understand until I dealt with it myself last September. it really sucks and messes with your head. good luck |

07.31.21 | I know they probably aren't as ideal or efficient as a window unit, but if your windows are designed not to allow you to set up a window unit (or just too narrow, whatever), maybe look into one of the ACs that sits inside where you just have to hook up the exhaust hose to the window to send the hot air out... they a little more of a pain in the ass in some ways (like you have to keep a container/bucket behind them to catch all the water that drains and empty it accordingly, and the funneling the hot air out the window bit certainly isn't ideal) but it definitely better than nothing |
Storm In A Teacup
07.31.21 | yup i worked part of this summer with no ac in my car when it was averaging 100 F. after a month i finally diagnosed that it was just the motor blower and figured out how to replace it. just one more day of 100 F weather tomorrow and i can start working in only 85 to 90 F weather. I haven't been able to work more than 8 hours lately but once it hits only highs of 90 then im definitely back on 12 to 14 hour shifts |
