An Al BAM a Day - June 2021

Been sick for like a month, although it feels like a year, so I've had a migraines almost daily and some unidentified problem on my left eye. Good news is, I can be high on painkillers and that allows me to jam black metal on repeat. Here are the albums of June, obviously, still catching up, because it's been a miserable month, but we'll get there, bear with me.
1Wolf Alice
Blue Weekend

June 1st

Started the month strong with indie rock's prodigal sons (and daughter) newest banger. As always with this band, a mixed bag of emotions, from "this is the best shit I've eve..." to "oh, oh, why are you doing that", in less that 10 minutes. Overall, pretty good album with some skippable tracks (for me).

2Sojourner
Perennial

June 2nd

Little EP of two tracks showcasing the new line-up. If you liked their latest stuff you'll probably like it, but if you expect trve atmoblack you'll probably be disappointed. Anyway, it's 2 tracks, so give it a shot? I reviewed it yesterday in case that helps!

3Red Fang
Arrows

June 3rd

Not sure what to make out of this yet. Only heard it once and fell asleep. I don't think that's a good sign, considering this band used to RAWK, but I do remember enjoying something in the haze of my sleep. Will revisit. NOTE: Bandcamp link will make you blind, wear sunglasses.

4Queen Of The Meadow
Survival of the Unfittest

June 4rd

Another one taht I haven't jammed in full yet. Thanks to Nocte who reviewed this, which caught my attention cause the cover is totally my shit. The content, well, seems promising, only heard the first half, dark(ish) folk ala Emily Jane White, but way more uplifting, closer to that other songwriter whose name I can't remember now, and I'm too lazy to search for.

5Japanese Breakfast
Jubilee

June 5th

Sunny made a beautiful review out of this and it made me curious even if her past albums were on the ok range for me. This one is definitely the best thing she has ever done, crazy good production and really inspired arrangements.

6Kajsa Lindgren
Momentary Harmony

June 6th

Migraine reached several critical points during last week so the only think I felt like having on headphones while trying to get work done was ambient. This album saved the day, honestly more than once. Strings, vocals and field recordings beautifully meshed.

7Somnuri
Nefarious Wave

June7th

Pretty obscure sludge and post metal band I found almost by mistake, in the line of Dvne, Baroness, all that jazz. If you are into the genre you will most definitely enjoy this.
