04.18.21 | I've heard City and Casualties of Cool - what Devin Townsend related album should I check next, I've been meaning to explore his discography more for a while now but he seems to have so much shit spread out over many different projects
I liked some of the animated music videos he put out for some of his more recent stuff... I think one was like a space cat (a cat-stronaut) and one was like some sad guy on a space station or something |
budgie
04.18.21 | where the heck is denise from memoryhouse |
cordwainerbird
04.18.21 | @budgie i don't know who that is but i can check it out!
@sharenge Overall - Ocean machine, for sure!! it's his most realized work and it's very accessible as well as being the most well-rounded and poignant. but for a poppier pick Addicted is good. and Synchestra is good if you want something less serious and more kooky but still very good. |

04.18.21 | honorable mention goes out to my boy john maus who maybe comes off as just a little too deranged for me to actively try to sound like
edit: fuck it im adding him |

04.18.21 | Those are some super cool vocalists to take inspiration from, kick some ass then. |
cordwainerbird
04.18.21 | @budgie this is way too straight-laced for the neurotic mess that is me but i do really love the smoothness.
i'd definitely sing along to music like this if i wanted a straightforward or "formal" of learning to sing. but "learn the rules before breaking them" is advice i have never taken and somehow i ended up learning everything i know about the many artforms i know by breaking the rules as i learn them. it's just ass backwards but it works for me. ty for sharing tho that was a sweet ass song |

LeddSledd
04.18.21 | my voice has always been garbage (tho my pitch is considerably good) but I've always thought having a great voice while also playing some non-mouth instrument is the best way to play two "instruments" at once. so much opportunity there
much luck on your musical exploits! |
Lasssie
04.18.21 | daddy, daddy, i want to be a famous singer! just like Jaden Smith! |
JKing92
04.18.21 | Beth Gibbons from Portishead would likely be on my own list. |

04.18.21 | @ava tysm!! wish u luck as well. that'd be sweet - keep in touch lol
@ledd u got it! the capacity and capability of the human voice as an instrument is something i've always been fascinated by so i'm surprised it's taken me this long to take this seriously. at the same time tho this feels like it's come at the perfect time. appreciate the kind words!
@lasseg i am already the daddy |
cordwainerbird
04.18.21 | thanks widow! |
MillionDead
04.18.21 | @Ledd: I get that. My ideal role in a band is probably a singing guitarist. |

cordwainerbird
04.18.21 | I!!!!! just realized a common link between these artists: they more or less all wrote their own lyrics. i just realized now that these are literally my lyrical inspirations to the SAME extent they are my vocal ones. groovy, dude |
cordwainerbird
04.18.21 | i always wondered how exactly id translate my cinematic ass brain thoughts into a musical-sound-kinda poetry deal, now realize i like how all these dudes did it more than anyone else. sweet |
cordwainerbird
05.24.21 | voice endeavors are going well. i had that review month thing goin and it didnt work out (might still pull thru). updated the list with some new names. thinking about producing a demo tape - i sing well |
cordwainerbird
05.24.21 | also, if this list was ordered alan vega would really be higher up. i take a ton of cues from him. depending on the day id tell u he is the best rock vocalist of all time
daily practice has resumed |
