04.01.21 | Yeah, 2012, knew it wasn't that great at the time and sadly that's still the story.
I'm aware picks 5-7 sound like wedding playlist tunes...but good ones |
CaliggyJack
04.01.21 | Where the absolute fuck is We Are Young by Fun? |
DoofDoof
04.01.21 | another one I haven't heard ;)
EDIT: ah no, I know it |
Pangea
04.01.21 | hmm this is the year we're most apart i think. 9 is nice though |
theBoneyKing
04.01.21 | Yeah I also don’t have a lot of overlap here. Interesting. |
DoofDoof
04.01.21 | What's everyone else listening to? Kendrick, Frank Ocean? A couple I thought I might put in the runners up from them - especially 'Swimming Pools (Drank)' from Kendrick |
theBoneyKing
04.01.21 | Surprised there isn’t a Mr. M cut. |

04.01.21 | 'Never My Love' is the one I loved at the time (break up) and some of the others are nice - but I think there was a conscious thing not to put a Tindersticks/Lambchop/National song in all of these lists ;)
That Lambchop album more than most I see as very much an 'album listen' rather than standouts |
theBoneyKing
04.01.21 | That's fair enough.
2012 was another formative music year for me so a lot of my favorites are things I actually don't listen to as much any more.
Some song shouts:
First Aid Kit - "Emmylou"
Mountain Goats - "Lakeside View Apartment Suite"
John Mayer - "Born and Raised"
The Avett Brothers - "The Once and Future Carpenter"
Brandi Carlile - "That Wasn't Me"
Tame Impala - "Apocalypse Dreams"
Delta Spirit - "California"
Angel Olsen - "Lonely Universe"
Alcest - "Faiseurs de mondes"
But yeah a kind of abysmal year all in all, no big standouts even so I guess people just cherrypick the few that did it for them. |

04.01.21 | I forgot Tame Impala was a big release in 2012 - not sure they're a band that'll be remembered too much, that's definitely my favourite tune from that album though so good choice
Like you said before, 2013 is much better. Just listened to that Phosphorescent song again and that one will make the cut |
Sunnyvale
04.01.21 | Nice to see 5 on here, such a brilliant song. Neil Halstead's solo stuff is mostly fairly forgettable to me but he also has half a dozen tunes which are absolute classics. |
theBoneyKing
04.01.21 | Yeah Doof, I also kinda forget Lonerism was 2012 - even though I guess it's my AOTY for that year. |
