| Best nu metal
My personal favorite nu albums in no order. Doesn't necessarily have to be a primarily nu metal album, nu influenced work can be here too. Feel free to tell me how trash my taste is, chances are I don't like yours either :P
Jk, whatever you say I'll respect your opinion. Just be constructive.
I'll do the rest when I'm not lazy | 1 | | Linkin Park Hybrid Theory
Classic, no explanation needed.
Notable songs: In the End, Runaway, Papercut, One Step Closer, Points of Authority, With You, By Myself, Forgotten | 2 | | Linkin Park Meteora
Better than HT tbh
Notable songs: Hit the Floor, Lying From You, Easier to Run, From the Inside, Faint, Somewhere I Belong, Breaking the Habit, Numb, Figure .09 | 3 | | My Ticket Home Strangers Only
Really strong nu resurgence album | 4 | | Static-X Wisconsin Death Trip
Simplistic but extremely creative. Interesting vocals and great combination of nu metal and industrial music. | 5 | | Static-X Project Regeneration Vol. 1
A bit uninspired but nonetheless a great tribute to Static-X. The best use of electronics on any of their albums, and infections melodies. | 6 | | Ocean Grove The Rhapsody Tapes
Weird and quirky, but quite satisfying. Atmospheric, groovy, and very entertaining. Electronics do wonders on the album.
Notable songs: Beers, Intimate Alien, Mr. Centipede, The Wrong Way, Stratosphere Love, Hitachi, Thunderdome | 7 | | Ocean Grove Flip Phone Fantasy
Nostalgic and poppy with a metal edge.
Notable songs: Junkie$, Sense Again, Baby Cobra, Sunny, Neo, Shimmer, Thousand Golden People | 8 | | RED (USA) End of Silence
A little on the generic side occasionally but very emotional and passionate. Beautiful and haunting.
Notable songs: Already Over, Breathe Into Me, Lost, Pieces, Break Me Down, Hide, Already Over (pt. 2) | 9 | | RED (USA) Innocence and Instinct
Their best album. Amazing use of strings, great vocals, hard hitting riffs. Orchestral metal done right.
Notable songs: Death of Me, Mystery of You, Start Again, Ordinary World, Shadows, Out From Under, Never Be the Same, Confession (What's Inside My Head), Fight Inside, Forever, Take It All Away | 10 | | RED (USA) Declaration
Inventive use of nu metal-esque sound. Great vocals and interesting harmonies.
Notable songs: All For You, Infidel, The Victim, The Evening Hate, From the Ashes, Float, Sever | 11 | | Deftones Around the Fur
Their best album. Love the post-hardcore vibes mixed with Chino's whispered voice.
Notable songs: My Own Summer, Headup, Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away), Rickets, Lotion, Dai the Flu, Around the Fur, Lhabia | 12 | | Nonpoint Statement
Very good vocalist helps distinguish the band from its peers. Riffs hit hard. Gets a little repetitive however.
Notable songs: Mindtrip, Hive, Tribute | 13 | | Taproot Gift
Great riffs with a solid tone. Singing is nasily but well done.
Notable songs: Again and Again, Mirror's Reflection, Smile, Now, 1 Nite Stand, Believed, Mentobe, I, Impact | 14 | | Taproot Welcome
A different, interesting take in the genre. Really appreciate the slower pace, makes it stand out among the other nu bands. Slow but crunchy riffs define the album
Notable songs: Mine, Poem, Art, Myself, Time, Sumtimes, Like | 15 | | Celldweller Celldweller
Quite possibly top 10 best electronic/nu metal hybrids and industrial metal | 16 | | Thousand Foot Krutch Phenomenon
Hip-hop/nu metal infused album with an extra emphasis on the hip-hop. Different but interesting take on the genre. Good hooks and pleasant overall. | 17 | | Stepa Stepa
Extremely creative and different nu sound. Vocals are definitely the highlight. Overly nostalgic.
Notable songs: King of the Fus, Aquarium, Shine, Spaceships & Airplanes, Spaztik, Mountain, Free | 18 | | LeVeL Level
Limp Bizkit without the cheese and wangst. Pretty solid, although obscure. | 19 | | Bring Me the Horizon Post Human: Survival Horror
Chaotic, bizarre, and sporadic. Great use of electronics and guitar riffs. | 20 | | TRUST Company The Lonely Position of Neutral
Great atmosphere mixed with some of nu metal's best riffs. Vocals are a bit weak but very different sounding.
Notable songs: Hover, Downfall, Figure 8, The Fear, Falling Apart, Deeper Into You, Finally, Take It All, Running From Me | 21 | | Mudvayne L.D. 50
Great, aggressive vocals, bass, riffs, thought provoking lyrics, and a all around masterful experience. A must listen.
Notable songs: -1, Cradle, Dig, Severed, Death Blooms, Internal Primates Forever, Prod | |

11.26.20 | @evil Yeah pretty much. | ReturnToRock
11.26.20 | 11, 12, 20, 21 are good. 20 in particular gets a bad rap when it's a decent album.
13 and 14 are snooze-inducing to me personally.
Also, where's White Pony / SOAD S/T / Toxicity / Slipknot S/T? | 80timesthe80

11.26.20 | Last is first, easily | Brabiz
11.26.20 | So happy i’m not the only one taking part in nu-nut november. | MxL0
11.26.20 | Haven't listened to either Korn nor Slipknot. Korn seems too emo to me, and Slip's lyrics are kinda cringe. Given, I haven't really given either of them a chance. Psychosocial seems like a good song. But idk they might not be my thing. | dedex
11.26.20 | check fugazi | Brabiz
11.26.20 | @MxL0 booooooo, a lot of Slipknot’s early stuff is just too energetic and raw to not love. Also Korn’s first album is fantastic, and they definitely have some great stuff later on here and there. | Brabiz
11.26.20 | Purity is probably my favorite Slipknot track. 10/10 | ReturnToRock
11.26.20 | 'Korn are too emo'
*includes the first two Linkin Park CD's* | MxL0
11.26.20 | @Brabiz Like I said I never really gave them a shot. I probably can't get into Iowa. Maaaybe their other stuff.
@ReturnToRock Lol well fair point. Although I find Korn more emo than LP, they're more angsty if you ask me. I dunno man, I don't really feel like listening to a song named "Daddy". They just might not be my cup of tea. I'll try them out someday. | MxL0
11.26.20 | And yeah I don't like White Pony as much as AtF. Lol that's probably gonna upset people but opinions really do be like that. | Brabiz
11.26.20 | Sad to hear you weren’t a fan of Iowa, but if you liked Paychosocial, maybe you’d enjoy more of their later stuff. I’d recommend the song Wherein The Lies Continue. Super underrated track | MxL0
11.26.20 | @normal Well I only say emo since I find the lyrics a little too overly-angsty, more so than LP (which isn't that angsty if you ask me).
And on WP I really don't like Deftones. Some tracks on WP are good, Change, Teenager, Digital Bath, Elite. The others I find kinda dull. I guess that's heresy? Haha. ATF has grown on me though, its a good album through and keeps me engaged, something that other Deftones albums don't do for me.
Never listened to SOAD so I can't say either way. | Emim
11.26.20 | 12 is one of the best out there | MxL0
11.26.20 | @normal yeah my taste is a tad bit different lol ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Maybe I'll give Korn another shot someday, maybe slip vol 3 | cb123

11.27.20 | Wouldn't you put Adrenaline in the same box as ATF? | Emim
11.27.20 | I meant stylistically. I would definitely call both of them nu metal. | Drifter
11.27.20 | Not seeing the bizkit 😐🤔 | Emim
11.27.20 | Yeah, I get that for sure. ATF definitely feels like the first "true" Deftones album. | ReturnToRock
11.27.20 | 'Some tracks on WP are good, Change, Teenager, Digital Bath, Elite. The others I find kinda dull.'
Feiticeira says hi... | TheAntichrist
11.27.20 | definitely give slipknot and korn a shot again | Emim
11.27.20 | Passenger and Knife Party also would like to say hi | MxL0
11.28.20 | Yeah not a huge fan of Feiticeira. Nor knife prty. Passenger has good vocals though. Besides thats an alt metal record mostly anyway, save for Elite.
I think on paper I'd like Adrenaline but that mixing is so bad I dunno if I can listen to it. I'd def vibe with that before korn or slip though. |
