Hans' Decade Jams

Not ranked, only one entry per band or else there would be 20 National songs. Just some jams I dug this decade.
1Japandroids
Celebration Rock

The House That Heaven Built - There have been at least 8 occasions where I thought this was the best song ever made. One of my all time pump up jams. Just perfection.
2Jason Isbell
Southeastern

Cover Me Up - This is probably in my top 50 songs of all time. The first time I heard it I was stunned. Absolutely gorgeous. Rips off The Beatles Norweigan Wood a little bit, but that's part of the appeal.
3Deftones
Koi No Yokan

Rosemary - IMO the best Deftones song. Immense , melodic, haunting. Great song to smash to.
4Gang of Youths
Go Farther in Lightness

The Deepest Sighs, The Frankest Shadows - The first time I heard this it literally stopped me in my tracks. Absolutely one of the best songs ever made. Kind of sounds like a cross between The National and Joshua Tree era U2. Great album about embracing life.
5Frightened Rabbit
The Winter of Mixed Drinks

The Loneliness and the Scream - I had an out of body experience when I saw this live. One of the most gorgeous songs ever. RIP so fucking hard.
6Judas Priest
Firepower

No Surrender - If this had come out in 1982, it would be universally known as a top 100 all time metal song.
7The Ghost Inside
Returners

Chrono - Absolute clinic of melody. Soaring guitars. One of those songs you drive 800 mph to.
8The War on Drugs
Slave Ambient

Your Love is Calling My Name. 1987 Tom Petty meets, Unforgettable Fire era U2.
9M83
Hurry Up, We're Dreaming

Reunion - Most would go with the mighty Midnight City, but damn it, I like this one better. Major bonus points for blatantly ripping off Simple Minds - Don't Forget About Me
10Killer Mike
R.A.P. Music

Willie Burke Sherwood - One of Hip Hop's greatest ballads.
11Kendrick Lamar
good kid, m.A.A.d city

m.A.A.d. City - Kendrick's greatest song and a fucking banger for the ages.
12Janelle Monae
The ArchAndroid

Tightrope - Speaking of bangers, if this doesn't move you, you're absolutely dead. Big BOI is a boss guest.
13The National
High Violet

Terrible Love (ALTERNATE VERSION) - Almost impossible to pick just one National song, but at gunpoint, I resort to this. Has to be the alternate version, the album version has a fucking terrible mix.
14Drive-By Truckers
The Big To-Do

Birthday Boy - This is one of their worst albums, but Birthday Boy is one of their greatest songs. An infectious little ditty about a strapping young lad losing his virginity to a hooker.
15The Gaslight Anthem
Handwritten

45 - Hard to pick just one Gaslight song, but this is their biggest jam.
16The Weeknd
House of Balloons

The Morning - What a fucking jam this is. His best song IMO.
17Against Me!
Transgender Dysphoria Blues

Title Track - Fuck me if this isn't the catchiest song ever made.
18There Will Be Fireworks
The Dark, Dark Bright

River - The first time I heard this I was absolutely fucking floored. I probably listened to it 20 times back to back. This is simply an all-timer. Its a colossal shame they are unknown.
19Kanye West
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Runaway - Have always hated him but even I have to admit this album is a hard 5. This is the best track here,
20Brockhampton
Iridescence

San Marcos - I can't really explain why I like this so much. It's not a popular pick, but fuck me if this isn't one of the prettiest damn things I've ever heard.
21Bon Iver
Bon Iver, Bon Iver

Perth - I realized this was his best song after seeing them live. Those drums.
22Ben Howard
I Forget Where We Were

Science Fiction

Lit Me Up - The soundtrack to a serial killer driving around at night.
38Chelsea Wolfe
Hiss Spun

16 Psyche - One of the most beautifully haunting tracks ever conceived. I wouldn't kick her out of bed.
39Fair to Midland
Arrows and Anchors

Short Haired Tornado - On a record full of mega choruses, this is the biggest.
40Lana Del Rey
