| Pet Sematary
Just got out of Pet Sematary. Unfortunately I was disappointed. Main complaint is that it’s TOO similar to the original movie. No surprises, didn’t have any identity of its own really. Felt like a lifeless carbon copy tbh. Bluntly, it was kinda boring. I mean — it’s not a BAD movie per se. it’s competently made. Just too familiar. The very epitome of an unnecessary remake. Just feels like s missed opportunity. Wish they would have done things a little differently.
FTR I am a fan of the original movie (grew up watching it) and the book remains one of my favorite Kingbooks to this day. Oh and just to pour salt in the wound, they didn’t do Zelda justice. Wasn’t scary at all. Felt like they knew they could never live up to expectations (after all, she’s widely considered to be the scariest part of the original and of the scariest characters in horror period).. so they threw up their hands and said why bother even trying?
Was so hyped for Us and Pet Sematary. Was sadly disappointed by both. | |

i'm pretty sure no one making this movie ever said this, but i'm not surprised no risks were taken and this was essentially a shameless money grab based on nostalgia and a familiar IP
we're going to get every possible remake of any noteworthy film at some point. get ready for the Gremlins remake next i bet. | StrikeOfTheBeast
04.05.19 | Still going to see it some time though. | Larkinhill
04.05.19 | Kalopsia, as someone who works in the movie industry, you’re absolutwly right that nobody did that and me saying so is ignorant.
On the bright side, this really could have been much worse. Could have been better too.
Was also a shame how they wasted John Lithgow. His role felt very underwritten. On the other hand Church was awesome in this. Some good comic relief. |
