Dewi's 2019 Q1

Just a quick run down some of the stuff I've been listening these 3 months. Definitely much less than previous years since I started working on my own music again, but here you go in case you are in need of some sweet jams. 10 albums per month.
1Two People
First Body

Runner for AOTY, nothing has topped this so far. Incredible atmosphere, gorgeous female vocals, perfect pacing and length. Seriously, get on this if you haven't yet.

I have a soft spot for these Sweds. Forgot about them after Figure Number Five (damn!) so I've been getting reacquainted with their discography little by little.

Hard rock done right. Half of them used to be members of Motorpsycho, now only the band's ex-drummer remains. The vibe is there though.

Really nice dream pop, her voice kind of reminds me of Emma Ruth Rundle for some reason. "Trouble" is such a cool track.
5Swallow the Sun
When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light

Honestly surprised by how much I liked this. If you know the back story of Trees of Eternity and the passing of Aleah this shit hits like a truck.

It was among the first albums I heard this year. Few bands can say they recorded their debut after 30 years of existence. Old school DM.
7Little People

Sparkling dance music, the features of Rahel and Tif Lamson are specially tasty.
The Approaching Roar

Fellow Spaniards absolutely wrecking it. Taking a step away from the obvious Deathspell Omega influence.
9The Twilight Sad
It Won/t Be Like This All the Time

First thing I heard of these guys but got curious after seeing the love for them in these parts.
Nowhere Now Here

Not their best, but the opener is stellar and it has some really good moments.
11Cherry Glazerr
Stuffed and Ready

One of the funniest, most uplifting albums of the year so far. Gotta love Clem. Love the production on this.
The Crucible

Furious free jamming unleashed. They never get old.

I still prefer their debut, but this is good.

They will never top "You Are My Sunshine" for me but so happy to see them back with such a solid output.
After Its own Death/ Walking in a Spiral

Grouper makes an album under a different moniker and it sounds more Grouper than ever.
Living Tomb

Much needed dose of cavernous death metal.

Quickly becoming my favorite of them.
18Rotting Christ
The Heretics

Another album I went in with low expectations and was gladly surprised.
Forgotten Paths

This guy is a genius.
20Be Forest

Dream pop from Italy, so ethereal that borderlines oblivion.
21Brutus (BE)

Post hardcore phenomenons on the rise. Nobody can drum and sing like Stef does.
22Elizabeth Colour Wheel

What a debut. Droning grunge with an amazing vocalist.
23Devil Master
Satan Spits On Children Of Light

I just LOVE these guys. Blackened punk forever.
24Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard
Yn Ol I Annwn

I feel they are stuck in between having achieved a polished sound and not being able to go beyond that. But still, I really dig their Sleep meets Nicole Dollanganger formula.

It gets the prize for the weirdest most twisted release I've come across this year so far. Reviewed it recently so more info there.
Triumphant Master of Fates

One of my favorite black metal releases of the year but honestly i haven't heard that many, Nazz wouldn't be proud.
27The Comet Is Coming
Trust in the Lifeforce of Deep Mystery

Jazz in a cosmic jazz club somewhere in Moon 521.
28Alexia Avina
All That I Can't See

Really sweet, calming singer songwriter. Not as... expansive as Grouper but more in the line of Johanna Warren and Many Rooms.
29Low Dose
Low Dose

Just got on this album a few days ago but I got a very good first impression. Grunge revival is real.
30Venom Prison

Not exactly my cup of tea but something keeps me dragging me to it.
