10 Good Artists that Made A Genius Album

Yep. 5/5 classics done by artists otherwise thought to be simply 'good' by many.
1Castanarc
Rude Politics

A pretty normal prog band that created this masterpiece album which infuses synthpop, prog, and ambient tribal to grandiose and hypnotic effect.
2A Guy Called Gerald
Essence

Forget Black Secret Technology for a second.... this is his finest hour.
3Date of Birth
La Lu La Roo

Japanese 90s experimental indietronica/ambient pop rockers create their defining album
4Devin Townsend
Ocean Machine: Biomech

No other Townsend album effects me as much as this, not even close. Serious musical perfection.
5OLD
Formula

Avant-garde metalers go into the industrial/electronic/dub realm and craft one of the most original albums ever made.
6Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays
As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls

One of the most hypnotizing and gorgeous jazz fusion albums to come from this time. Pat Metheny's best album as well as Mays' best album. Nothing else like it.
7Photek
Solaris

Traditionally known for his DnB works, this house-techno hybrid takes the cake. Probably the best example of atmospheric deep-house ever. Out among the sun and the sea.
8Herbie Hancock
Crossings

Hancock actually has 3 amazing albums, and plenty of superb works, but this album changed the course of music, in addition to being mysterious and emotionally awe-inspiring. You'd be hard-pressed to find another fusion release that comes close to this level of transcendence.
9Peter Gabriel
Up

Really the only Gabriel album that stops me dead in my tracks. Bloody gorgeous in every way. Pop perfection, melodic perfection, atmospheric perfection, aesthetic perfection.
10Hybrid (UK)
Wide Angle

The best electronic album in the world. This group unfortunately never made anything else this timeless.
