Slayer + Insomnium (Orlando)

So I drove to Orlando for a couple days to catch Insomnium (mostly to hear Winter's Gate live) and Slayer during their farewell tour. Insomnium was okay, I suppose. Kind of disappointed, if I'm being honest. I though Oceans of Slumber put on a better performance. Now Slayer, they're a different story. Keep in mind, I'm a 28-year-old guy, and I've never been one for moshpits. However, I found myself thinking that if I were to do it once, even just to try it, this would be the show. I decided to simply watch Testament, Behemoth and Anthrax, just in case I'd get tired or have something happen after just one band. When Lamb of God took the stage, I was in. Not gonna lie, it was both exciting and terrifying. When they finished I found myself ready for another round, which I definitely got when Slayer took stage. I even dropped my phone (outdoor venue at night) and was fortunate enough to have someone immediately find and hand it back to me. I even fell to the ground a few times and scraped my knee, but not too bad. What really took me by surprise was when I was picked up and carried through the crowd to the front of the stage with a few others. By then, I had my fill, but stuck around to hear "Raining Blood" and dipped to beat the crowd. So yeah, pretty crazy show and a couple first-time experiences. Everyone I met there was awesome and even the moshers helped people up and checked on those who seemed to be out of it. Really cool, had a blast. Only downside is I'm hurting all over the place, and I got a date soon.
