TheSpirit 12.15.17	Also, I don't think I could ever rank SW. I love them all. I have my gripes w/each and I understand why some people like certain ones more than others or flat-out don't like the series at all, but idk, I just really really love all of them.

DarkSideOfLucca 12.15.17	Oh shit I forgot about Rogue One. I actually was incredibly bored to tears by that, it would be lower on the list. Even the prequels had scenes where I wasn't totally checked out - those 40ish seconds of Darth Vader were amazing, though.
DarkSideOfLucca 12.15.17	@neek - I used to think that Attack of the Clones was the worst, but honestly Jango saves it for me along with one or two other cool sequences even though the movie is still mostly bullshit. Episode 1 has almost NOTHING except for one light saber duel at the very end that is cut up between two other non interesting battles.

Rik VII 12.15.17	Hm, it's pretty hard for me, but I'm one of those who think that they could have called it quits after the original trilogy because all the stuff they did after it took away from the mythology (like the Midi-chlorians, seeing Vader as an annoying milksop, or the worst mistake of the new films, declaring Luke's victory over the empire more or less useless). Regarding those three movies, this would be my ranking: Empire Strikes Back > Return of the Jedi > A New Hope They are all very close, but ANH loses by a bit because of the lightsaber duel which is probably my least favorite scene of the trilogy, while ROTJ has my favorite scene of the whole franchise, and that's the finale of course. Every prequel film is worse than every original film imo, but regarding those, my ranking would be: Revenge of the Sith > Phantom Menace > Attack of the Clones Definite ranking for me. PM at least knows where to go instead of the other two that lose themselves in unnecessary and uninteresting sub-plots that don't really matter for the whole picture. ROTS is completely all over the place in the worst way possible, but it has a lot of good single moments that make it by far the most memorable (the part after the duels is mostly brilliant), so it's a flawed film but still good. Haven't seen TLJ yet, but I don't feel the need to. I feel like TFA made clear that the new trilogy doesn't know where to go or even what the final aim of its central character developtment is (unlike Anakin turning to Vader and Luke defeating the empire). It was a bad idea to attempt it from an artistic point of view since the story has been told from start to finish and it feels unnatural to continue it. Rogue One however is just a terrible movie. It's basically an okay 30 minute short film with one and a half hours prologue that noone should care about because its story-telling sucks and the characters have no defining qualities that could make them interesting (that is, if you don't see "they are in a Star Wars movie" as a quality that's enough to make a character interesting). Probably the worst in the franchise, but can't decide since Attack of the Clones exists.
Sevengill 12.15.17	I'd swap 3 and 4 because man I hate that TFA was another "let's blow up the death star" movie but yeah pretty much spot-on.
BeyondCosby 12.15.17	So for Return of the Jedi.... The Emperor is taunting Luke to strike him down. He's not Obi-Wan. He doesn't actually want to die. Darth Vadar stops him from killing the Emperor because he's his father, but he's also torn. Vadar is ultimately a pawn, he has a duty to his Emperor but he also doesn't want to kill his son. The argument of "why does Darth Vadar stop Luke from killing the Emperor" is the same as "why does Darth Vadar do literally anything for the Emperor". It's because he's the Emperor's puppet. He's so submerged in his servitude that he can't do anything differently until he watches the Emperor zapping Luke.

neekafat 12.15.17	RikRoach, just watch it. It's more assured and while it is a bit unfocused it makes the original trilogy far more relevant and succeeds in making it matter (which was my biggest problem with TFS)
