06.18.17 | Ah the classic terrorist jokes, a true staple...
Which tents do you recommend Dominion? I'm leaning towards Hofbrau (personal favorite of mine) and Spaten, but I think I'd like to explore some of the smaller tents and areas at the festival. |

06.19.17 | i liked the lowenbrau tent because their beer was my fav |
JWT155
06.19.17 | What's Lowenbrau's best beer like, like a hefeweizen, dunkel? |
Kimm
06.19.17 | Fuck yeah man!! That sounds awesome, hope you have a great time out there. |
klap
06.19.17 | sweet, i've been to Munich once several years ago but not for oktoberfest. pretty sure you can't go wrong w any tent tbh |

06.19.17 | The concept of Hefeweizen/wheat beer is a huge mistake and if you like it, you are barred from entering Valhalla. |
teamster
06.19.17 | I "spent" my 21st birthday 24 years ago at La Crosse, Wisconsin's Oktoberfest. We started at 3pm, I lasted till 6pm. Happy birthday me. |

06.19.17 | What'd you think of Munich klap?!
Thanks kimm, I'll be in Belgium as well to bookend Oktoberfest.
"The concept of Hefeweizen/wheat beer is a huge mistake and if you like it, you are barred from entering Valhalla."
Well that's just your mistake on missing out; I love all beer and each have their purpose, as much as I love hoppy craft beer I also love throwing back an obscene amounts of light beer when I'm day drinking and beginning in the early hours of the morning as well as enjoy a good hefeweizen, especially in hefeweizen beer is fucking delicious.
@teamster - Sound slike a good borthday to me |

hahahhahah hell nah duderoo, Hefeweizens go hard, i wish i could buy more than just bloody Schofferhöfers over here |

06.19.17 | Hefeweizens are great |
Davil667
06.19.17 | Yeah Hefeweizen is best, especially Franziskaner. Just make sure to order Weißbier instead of Weizen, the locals will love you for that :]
I always used to go to the Schottenhamel tent but you can't go wrong with any of them. There are a lot of smaller tents which often aren't as crowded as the large ones and several Beergardens on the area as well. Have fun dude! |
Egarran
06.19.17 | Ach, so many of you people are condemned to wander about in Hel. |
JWT155
06.19.17 | Love Franziskaner, also I'll be in Belgium before and afterwards so I'll have to get my fair share of Belgian Ales. I def want to go to at least one smaller tent, and Dominion recommended Lowenbrau.
Wander about in Hel? lol wat |
Davil667
06.19.17 | I really think all tents are fun but I def prefer the smaller ones and the Beergardens. You also have to stroll around a bit with your girl, preferably during the week and before noon. There's so much to discover. Keep your eyes open for the Weißbier-Carousel, a very fun experience. And the best Löwenbräu has to offer is indeed its Dunkle Weisse wheat beer. Cheers. |

06.19.17 | Hey there. Born and raised in Munich.
Please, for the love of god, do not get yourself a plastic Lederhosn. There are some cheap options for a real Lederhosn around the Hauptbahnhof for about $50-$60 but keep in mind that those are low quality as well. A real quality one will cost you about $300 and more. That being said, you can still get a decent pair of Lederhosn for about $120-$150 or something. Just check out some Trachten Outlets. If thats too expensive, just wear normal clothes. You won't get any strange looks.
Anyway, here is a pretty solid and compact guide about the Wiesn: https://www.reddit.com/r/Munich/wiki/oktoberfestguide
It should answer a lot of your questions.

06.19.17 | Cheers bro, also born in Munich and living there for quite some time.
Totally agree on the fake Lederhosn :] |

06.19.17 | Griaß di. :] |
JWT155
06.19.17 | Thanks for the advice and recommendations! I'm definitely leaning towards the crazier party tents but not necessarily the most american (would like to mingle and meet more of the natives in Munich as well get a more authentic atmosphere) so I'm leaning towards Hacker now with Hofbrau at #2.
Unique bars/experiences are one of my favorite things so I'll def check out the Wiessbier-Carousel as well as the Löwenbräu Dunkle Weisse.
No worries, if I got a Lederhosn it wouldn't be a cheap plastic one, that would kind of defeat the purpose in my eyes and ruin the fun, plus I'd want to keep it, if I decide to pass I'm sure jeans with a button up wouldn't be too out of place.
Thanks for the guide, I have it bookmarked now! |
oresttt
06.19.17 | Yea, can't go wrong with Hacker, great tent, great beer. Also, be sure to check out the Teufelsrad (Devil's wheel) and take a ride on the Riesenrad at night. And as Davil said, just walk around and soak in the atmosphere.
Have a blast dude!
