Nocturtle
03.06.17 | I left some space for stuff I may have missed |
MillionDead
03.06.17 | I'm a big pretentious music asshole now, so I'm kind of upset at myself for having heard most of these multiple times. Glass Casket and the Red Chord will always be bae, though. |
tellah
03.06.17 | 3, 22, and 75 are awful but I like a lot of this stuff |
Nocturtle
03.06.17 | 3 is a classic in the genre while 22 and 75 are the good kind of awful |
tellah
03.06.17 | fair enough I won't say it's objectively awful I just can't get into TAS |
SteakByrnes
03.06.17 | I love a lot of this my guy, pretty sweet list m/
Kinda sad seeing Upon A Burning Body, it's a shame how they turned out after starting out so well |
MillionDead
03.06.17 | Lol Wormwood with gems like Tactical Nuke. And tellah, you aren't missing a ton. They've always had some decent songs here and there, but you've heard better. |
Confessed2005
03.06.17 | Bring Me the Horizon and Emmure are both terrible.
Other than that list has some good albums. |
Deathconscious
03.06.17 | Some good stuff here. Also some really bad stuff. |
Nocturtle
03.06.17 | @tellah what have you jammed by them?
@steak m/m/m/m/m/m/m//m/m/m/m
@confessed fair enough i put the bmth on the list because its really popular within the genre and those emmure albums i find genuinely great |
TVC15
03.06.17 | List is irrelevant when you got the handbook right here

03.06.17 | As always, I'll recommend Deadwater Drowning. |
Confessed2005
03.06.17 | Deadwater Drowning is fucking awesome, props
|
tellah
03.06.17 | @Nocturtle Wormwood and Above/Below
love me some ABRB, ASP, VOM, and WTR doe
I dig 90% of the bands on this list actually |
Chortles
03.06.17 | thank you |
dctarga
03.06.17 | @Confessed2005
100% agreed.
But yeah cool list otherwise, and good call on leaving "Revenants" out from the Conducting from the Grave section, that album is just stale, save for "What Monsters We Have Become pt 1 & 2" and "The Path of a Traitor". Major comeback they had with the new self-tilted one, at least in my opinion. |
G0atC0re
03.07.17 | Holy shit, no one has immediately dismissed this list as shit yet. What's happened to Sputnik? |
Astral Abortis
03.07.17 | The Acacia Strain is the only deathcore band I can regularly enjoy these days |
Gameofmetal
03.07.17 | That's kinda weird since they haveso few death metal aspects comparatively. Wouldve expected you to like something more traditional |
Astral Abortis
03.07.17 | It's kinda the fact that they're not death metal at all that can allow me to enjoy them, since they're so self aware and they actually have some badass riffs |
Deathconscious
03.07.17 | Acacia Strain out of all bands? The fuck snox. |
dbizzles
03.07.17 | Damn, I forgot about We Are The End. I remember it having at least one super dope breakdown though and playing it on my zune like 10 years ago lol.
That With Blood Comes Cleansing album has some bangers too; nice list for the most part. |
Astral Abortis
03.07.17 | Acacia Strain are cool |
dbizzles
03.07.17 | Dead Walk rules. SYNT is the angriest song. |
accompliceofmydeath
03.07.17 | Finally someone points out that The Acacia Strain have like no death metal to them. |
Astral Abortis
03.07.17 | Yeah there's barely any death metal in their sound but they do what they do really well. I mean compared to other "deathcore" bands, they have surprising diversity to their songs and structure. They don't try to be progressive or anything but I mean just listen to 'The Hills Have Eyes', it starts of with catchy riffs, a focused breakdown with a memorable vocal hook and some actual guitar leads over the melody, two whole new sections before it even tries going back to the main riff, then it once again goes into a whole new type of breakdown. They're just beating down time after time, but each breakdown in the song is distinct in completely recognisable ways. Very admirably designed beatdown deathcore. |
accompliceofmydeath
03.08.17 | I'm totally with ya, man. Great description. I think they're a lot different than most deathcore bands because most of the dudes in the band are just hardcore kids. They grew up more on Hatebreed and Converge than say Suffocation and Cryptopsy. |
ramon.
03.08.17 | Tactical Nuke is the only song I have listened to from the band, might give their stuff a listen |
EphemeralEternity
03.08.17 | w/out compunction i have enjoyed most of these at some point from 2007-2012 and a few of them to this day
btw you forgot 'My bitter end' and 'Eternal Lord' (ed butcher's dxc band post-IKTPQ aka the best harsh vocalist who ever lived ) |
dbizzles
03.08.17 | Check Dead Walk and Continent. There'll be something there for you. |
StarlessCore
03.08.17 | list should be called
look how bad my taste in metal music is |
zaruyache
03.08.17 | ctrl + f animosity 0 of 0

EphemeralEternity
03.08.17 | yeah animosity should be on here, also where are Hester Prynne? |
EphemeralEternity
03.08.17 | here comes the krakens debut too?
fuck i feel a deathcore binge is on the cards peeps |
dbizzles
03.08.17 | Was it Acacia Strain and Emmure that had beef? If I remember right, Skynet was a diss track, but I don't remember what the return or original song was. Am I way off base here? |
FearThyEvil
03.08.17 | list doesn't even have The Price of Existence the best of the genre. |
dbizzles
03.08.17 | 'Here comes the krakens debut too?'
Dude, that album rules so hard. Too bad they shit the bed afterward. And yeah, Hester Prynne had a good one too. I need to bust out my ipod and look for worthy additions.
|
accompliceofmydeath
03.08.17 | @dbizzles: yeah, TAS and Emmure had beef. Skynet was TAS's diss and then Emmure had R2DeepThroat. They apparently fought, link: http://lambgoat.com/news/13320/Acacia-Strain-Emmure-singers-trade-blows
Side note, when I saw TAS in probably '07 or '08 they told a kid in an Emmure shirt they wouldn't sell him any merch unless he took his shirt off. |
Orb
03.08.17 | Some real duds on this list |
EphemeralEternity
03.08.17 | fearthyblindness
|
EphemeralEternity
03.08.17 | @dbizzles
their follow up was piece of pig shit unfortunately yeah.
This feels like an AA meeting and we're all reminiscing on our dark days |
dbizzles
03.08.17 | @accompliceofmydeath haha good story. They would totally do something like that. I've seen TAS a few times. They're a riot.
@EphemeralEternity My name is dbizzles and I'm a deathcoreholic. I like to put on an old Whitechapel track every now and then, but one is never enough and the next thing I know my neck is sore from head-banging in my living room and my life is in pieces. |
MeatSalad
03.08.17 | I dig 5 but this genre is such absolute fucking garbage |
FearThyEvil
03.08.17 | holy fuck I am blind lol. Welp, ignore my comment |
ramon.
03.08.17 | CtrlFThyEvil |
EphemeralEternity
03.08.17 | i know dude its happened to me before, one spin of Allegiance and the next 8 hours are a semi conscious blur from which i awaken to find myself squeezed into my sisters jeans, the stretchers are back in and my mouth tastes distinctly like dick
nah deathcore is alright it's more the fanbase that annoys me , specifically their obstinate refusal to delve deeper into extreme metal subgenres, which shouldn't really annoy me but it does. Especially how many like to act as though they listen to such inaccessible underground stuff that their whole appearance/attitude has to reflect it . Bitch please deathcore was the vogue in 06-08
of course I'm generalizing but ive met a few turds irl who fit the description |
Nocturtle
03.09.17 | "Point Below Zero my dude
Genocide of Prescription
Hedonistic Exility
Check 'em"
I know all them I'll add pbz but the other two nah |
dbizzles
03.09.17 | Fuck yeah, didn't notice Suffocate. Time to put on Oakland. Too bad the site average is.... average lol. |
Nocturtle
03.09.17 | oakland you say? the skies were filled with fire was a hard jam |
dbizzles
03.09.17 | Yep. NM, NF is good, probably better even, but Oakland is my jam. Reminds me a lot of Hate Malice Revenge. |
Tunaboy45
03.09.17 | How to Disappear Completely> |
dbizzles
03.09.17 | If you're going to try to shit in our Easter basket, at least pick a GOOD radiohead song. |
Nocturtle
03.10.17 | other then oakland you think i missed anything else? |
dbizzles
03.10.17 | Annotations of an Autopsy - Before the Throne of Infection (sue me)
AGATG - Game of Life
Burning the Masses - Mind Control
Dance Club Massacre - Feast of the Blood Monsters
Greta Knights - See You on the Dance Floor
I Killed the Prom Queen - Music for the Recently Deceased
Last House on the Left - Among Flies
Rose Funeral - Crucify. Kill. Rot. (sue me again)
Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza - Danza II Electric Boogaloo
War From A Harlot's Mouth - Transmetropolitan
Whisteria Cottage - Heathen
That's all I found on my iPod that I thought were worth listing. Some are arguable, I know; AGATG, I Killed the Prom Queen, etc. Some have more than one good album, just listed my favorites from each band. |
Nocturtle
03.11.17 | i have no idea how i missed rose funeral, i love those guys,
i thought i did throw in prom queen guess not
for annotations of an autopsy i'll probably put their first ep on the list
never considered mind control dxc really
wfahm is sick i'll definitely add them and same with danza |
Archelirion
03.11.17 | fuck i feel a deathcore binge is on the cards peeps [2]
