01.25.17 | for electronic jazz you can check Ulver - Perdition City. More jazzy and proggy like King Crimson, is Van Der Graaf Generator - Still Life. For traditional jazz with a virtuoso trumpetist, listen to Chet Baker. |

01.25.17 | Well, try out Porgy and Bess by Miles since you listed Kind of Blue. Super smooth and melancholy. Black Saint and the Sinner Lady by Charles Mingus for an avant garde masterpiece with odd vocals and out there compositions.
Also, try Blackjazz by Shining for prog rock/jazz metal strangeness.. And I dunno how into harsh/free jazz stuff you are, but Machine Gun by Peter Brotzmann is a personal classic for me. Kristallnacht by John Zorn is another good one in the free/experimental spectrum.
If you like vocal jazz, damn near anything by Nina Simone or Billie Holiday should do it for you. Try Crossings and Mwandishi by Herbie Hancock for some spiritual psych vibes. I second everything about Ryo Fukui and Coltrane. |

01.25.17 | Bill Evans (piano on Kind of Blue) has some good stuff. |

01.25.17 | I don't know how into games you are, but an amazing album was put out last year that is a jazz reimagining of several tracks from Chrono Trigger
It's called Chronology: A Jazz Tribute to Chrono Trigger, and I believe it's free (or pay what you want) on the OCRemix website. Highly recommended. |
