01.18.17 | You need to just keep restoring it |
Divaman
01.18.17 | You mean keep doing resets? |
Astral Abortis
01.18.17 | iPods just kinda die after a while. In my experience, iPhones are more reliable for music even though they're more limited. |
zakalwe
01.18.17 | What the fuckin hell is media monkey? |
Spec
01.18.17 | I'm sorry man but honestly this has to happen to everyone at least once. |
Divaman
01.18.17 | I don't use iTunes. My wife had all kinds of problems with it. I use media monkey to organize my music files on my iPod. |
Astral Abortis
01.18.17 | I hear iTunes runs terribly on Windows, but I can't attest. It's perfect on OSX.
Apparently Foobar or MusicBee is best for Windows. |
loveisamixtape
01.18.17 | you're gonna take a mac with 26000 illegally downloaded songs to the apple store? |
Astral Abortis
01.18.17 | Some people buy their music.
Also there's no way to tell if music has been downloaded "illegally".
Also I think he's taking the iPod to the Apple store. |
Divaman
01.18.17 | They're not illegally downloaded. |
zakalwe
01.18.17 | Just do a bit of jiggerypokery.
Scratch your head.
Update everything.
Sync it.
Puff out your cheeks.
Reset it.
Sync it.
Scratch your head.
Reset it.
Puff out your cheeks.
Do a bit of jiggerypokery.
|
Divaman
01.18.17 | Yeah, I've been doing most of that. Don't want to resync it, because while I have all (I think) of the mp3 files saved, I only have about a third of my playlists. (Was never able to figure how to move playlists from my old computer to my current one). But I've been resetting and jiggerypoking like crazy. |
zakalwe
01.18.17 | Yeah you have my sympathies dude. Ballache. |
Divaman
01.18.17 | Going to bed. Hoping when I wake up it will just have been a bad dream. |
Divaman
01.18.17 | Thanks Zak. |

01.18.17 | Dang this sucks. |
Jeffrulesyou
01.18.17 | Diva, I used to have the classic 160g one it would do that to me occasionally. I'd hard reset it would work for a little while than shit the bed again. Make sure none of the files on there are funky or corrupt. |

01.18.17 | iTunes is great for simple streaming but fails miserably at actually keeping everything organized and in place |
Brewtality91
01.18.17 | "Going to bed. Hoping when I wake up it will just have been a bad dream."
That's how I deal with all my problems.
And if the problem persists, I apply alcohol. |
Astral Abortis
01.18.17 | "iTunes is great for simple streaming but fails miserably at actually keeping everything organized and in place"
iTunes is perfect for keeping things organised and in place |
RLWFormula
01.18.17 | Yeah, this is why I have all of my shit on CD's. It's just easier and more convenient. |

01.18.17 | A visit to the Apple Store...
Doof 'worst of all time' ranking:
10th: going to the dentists
...
7th: being dragged to the cinema to watch a 'rom com'
...
4th: going to the sexual health clinic
...
2nd: going to visit a dying relative in hospital
1st: going to the Apple Store |

01.18.17 | "I hear iTunes runs terribly on Windows, but I can't attest. It's perfect on OSX."
nah man lol
fuck itunes |
MotherFucker
01.18.17 | I still use cassettes and they work great. |
Astral Abortis
01.18.17 | I seriously don't get anyone's problem with iTunes if it's on OSX. It's the perfect music management program. Just disable cloud and don't log in to the store and it's just a great, good looking and easy to use program that can store all your music. Very easy playlist system and the smart playlist feature is a godsend. |
FullOfSounds
01.18.17 | I really like iTunes' format, it's satisying to see all those albums organized in one place. |
DoofusWainwright
01.18.17 | ^ always disable Cloud, and Siri, and...pretty much anything Apple has developed in the last six years |
Astral Abortis
01.18.17 | Yeah I like the way it organises albums by their covers, it's a very satisfying way to view your collection |
TVC15
01.18.17 | Yeah iTunes is shit on Windows
Used to be able to sync my iPhone to my iTunes on my computer but it won't do it anymore and my phone has been unable to update for several months now |
FullOfSounds
01.18.17 | I have Windows and it's fine |
Astral Abortis
01.18.17 | It's also very aesthetically pleasing to me to have the album cover of the album that's currently playing in a little square in the corner of my screen like this: http://imgur.com/H0Wh24F |
Divaman
01.18.17 | Awake again. It wasn't a bad dream. Thanks for at least giving me a couple of laughs, though, guys. |
Flugmorph
01.18.17 | happened to me multiple times. they always just gave me a new ipod for free lol |
zakalwe
01.18.17 | iTunes is unbeatable plus you cannot fault Apple support. |
onionbubs
01.18.17 | Never had any problems with itunes unless i have to update it. Then it completely falls apart and i cant open it for roughly a day
The album cover view is very asthetically pleasing imo |
TheEnigma
01.18.17 | Kind of a dramatic response to a temporary inconvenience but hey, you do you.
That does suck though, I feel your frustration. |
SandwichBubble
01.18.17 | @Divaman bein a diva, man haha
Sorry about your loss. If it's any consolation, I deleted my Talking Heads '77 rating by accident with my fat fingers on my cell. My rating fung shui is all out of wack now | 1 like = 1 🙏 |
Divaman
01.18.17 | I'm being dramatic, I know, but if anyone will understand, it will be you guys. Outside of family and friends, music is my greatest pleasure. (And it doesn't help that I'm obsessive-compulsive as hell). |
Sinternet
01.18.17 | media monkey is a good program, i mainly just use it to sync my itunes stuff to my android phone though
i fucking hate itunes because it's a slow cpu-hog mess lacking in most features, but I'm so used to the UI thta fully changing to anything else is weird to me |
Divaman
01.18.17 | Btw, tried to buy a new iPod classic today, and learned that Apple doesn't make them anymore. |
Sinternet
01.18.17 | you only just found that out? they stopped making them like 2-3 years ago |
Divaman
01.18.17 | Wasn't looking to buy another one before today. |
TheEnigma
01.18.17 | Same, I recently went looking for a device I could fit a buttfuck ton of music on, but to no avail. iPhone has a decent amount of storage, but fills up fast with updates and work shit. |
Divaman
01.19.17 | So so far, predictably, Apple support blames Media Monkey. I've got a ticket in with Media Monkey support, which will doubtlessly blame Apple. At least Sputnik is finally working again. |
Sniff
01.19.17 | The same thing happened to me a couple of years back. It worked for a little while when I did a hard reset or whatever you'd call it. But pretty soon after the harddrive gave up on me.
Are you guys saying you actually can get help at the apple store where you at? |
calmrose
01.19.17 | I dread the day my iPod classic finally dies |
Divaman
01.19.17 | I don't know Sniff, I haven't tried yet. I actually spoke to the Apple Support listed on their web site.
But here's the kicker -- the iPod is working again, at least for now. I had it plugged into my laptop and was playing some stuff off it while I was playing around on this website, and my daughter's cat knocked it on the ground, causing it to pull out of the laptop without doing a proper disconnect, and now the music files are all back where they should be. So my daughter's cat is a friggin genius! |
Sniff
01.20.17 | Good for ya |
