55 Albums For 2013

After weeks of multiple listens, I decided to stop and post this. There are a lot of questionable choices, but these are the records I've listened most to this year. I tried to make the top 25 as accurate as possible.
1The National
Trouble Will Find Me

This record got me into The National and I still can't let go of it. It is amazing.
2Nine Inch Nails
Hesitation Marks

Not your usual aggro Reznor fix, but this is what makes it more interesting. Happy to see Trent back in action with NIN.
3Causa Sui
Euporie Tide

The best summer record released this year for me. Each song is carefully and gorgeously constructed and the grooves are downright infectious.
4The Ocean
Pelagial

Loving everything from the concept to the music. There is no filler, just pure awesomeness. I totally regret missing them twice this tour.
5Bad Religion
True North

No one does punk rock better than Bad Religion. Returning to the short and to-the-point formula after the more alternative Dissent Of Man, True North is everything you could wish for from the band.
6Alice In Chains
The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here

Probably 2/3 of the fanbase will never get over the fact that Layne Staley's dead and the band moved on. Even though some of the tracks overstay their welcome, the material is impressive.
7Queens Of The Stone Age
...Like Clockwork

Not quite your usual QOTSA. ...Like Clockwork doesn't bash you in the head, it crawls and slowly secures its place.
8Bodyjar
Role Model

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH! Been waiting for this to happen since 2005.
9David Bowie
The Next Day

David Bowie is forever.
10Front Line Assembly
Echogenetic

Keeping industrial alive, Bill Leeb constantly churns great material. Even if the guitars are completely missing (and sometimes missed), Echogenetic features traces of the original FLA, especially gems like Tactical Neural Implant or Caustic Grip.
11Clutch
Earth Rocker

Sounds like a rebirth for the genre!
Crucial Velocity, Cyborg Better, Oh Isabella & Book, Saddle and Go
12Depeche Mode
Delta Machine

Much like David Bowie, these guys can always be counted on.
Secret To The End, Alone, Soothe My Soul, Angel
13Steven Wilson
The Raven That Refused To Sing

I wish Porcupine Tree were back, but this is good.
Drive Home, The Raven That Refused To Sing, Luminol, The Watchmaker
14Daft Punk
Random Access Memories

A lot of people hate it, but it's fun.
Get Lucky, Fragments Of Time, The Game Of Love & Give Life Back To Music
15Pet Shop Boys
Electric

Old school techno/rave nostalgia.
Fluorescent, Love Is A Bourgeois Construct, Vocal & The Last To Die
16Filter
The Sun Comes Out Tonight

Patrick's anger gets a bit polished, but it still hits the spot.
We Hate It When You Get What You Want, Surprise, It's Gotta Be Right Now, This Finger's For You
17Sasquatch
IV

Not as good as III, but still, it's Sasquatch.
Money, The Message, Sweet Lady & Eye Of The Storm
18Monster Magnet
Last Patrol

Their most potent record since 2004's Monolithic Baby! Nice to see them back on track.
End Of Time, Last Patrol, Mindless Ones, Paradise
19Coheed And Cambria
The Afterman: Descension

Not as good as the first part, but still very enjoyable.
Number City, Sentry The Defiant, The Hard Sell & Gravity
20Amplifier
Echo Street

Even though it lacks the attitude of their previous stuff, it's nice and different in a Porcupine Tree way.
Matmos, Where The River Goes, Between Today And Yesterday & Extra Vehicular
21Gozu
The Fury Of A Patient Man

Fun! Fun!! Fuuuun!!!
irish Dart Fight, Signed Epstein's Mom, Salty Thumb & Charles Bronson Pinchot
22Monkey3
The 5th Sun

These guys are getting massive!
Icarus, Suns, Birth Of Venus, Circles
23How To Destroy Angels
Welcome Oblivion

Reznor's wife is so hot, I don't care about anything else.
Strings And Attractors, Ice Age, How Long?, Keep It Together
24Thomas Dybdahl
What's Left Is Forever

Left unnoticed on Sputnik, this album is his best since 2004's One Day You'll Dance For Me, New York City.
Man On A Wire, Soulsister, Easy Tiger & This Love's Here To Stay
25Samsara Blues Experiment
Waiting For The Flood

Following the debut's blueprint and the more immediate approach of the second record, Waiting For The Flood is highly enjoyable.
Shringara, Waiting For The Flood, Don't Belong, Brahmin's Lament
26Ulver
Messe I.X-VI.X

Son Of Man, As Syrians Pour In...., Shri Schneider
27The Black Angels
Indigo Meadow

28Primal Scream
More Light

29Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Specter At The Feast

Hate The Taste, Sell It, Fire Walker
30Hammock

These guys are a must see live! The bass moves your bowels.
