How Many New Albums Do You Listen To A Week?

On average I listen to probably 1 or 2 new albums I have never heard before per week. I try to avoid wasting my time listening to shit music I don't like by doing a little research before hand (on Sputnik or on other sites). Once I pick a new album I will listen to it at least once or twice per day during the week as the center point of my rotation while mixing in recent albums I have que'd up in various playlists plus older albums I go back to now and again. I am currently listening to Logos- Cold Mission and ASC - Programme 1 & 2. rWhat is your process?rHere are my Top 25 favorite albums for 2013
Habitual Levitations

Honorable Mention- The Knife - Shaking the Habitual / Alice and Chains - The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here / ASC - Machine Love / Tesseract - Altered State / Autechire - L-Event

Electro for people who like Metal. This shit sounds heavy.
Cold Mission

Another creative electronic release
Programme 02

Also add Programme 01 as well. Very solid shit haven't had enough time with it otherwise probably would be higher on my list
21Russian Circles

Great musicianship, just wore off me pretty quick.
20Nine Inch Nails
Hesitation Marks

Good return for NIN, a lot of solid tracks maybe we have all just outgrown them a bit.

Vote for worst production and mixing but I still thought it was a solid effort from this super group.

Solid post punk album, usually not my thing but this one was catchy as fuck.
17 Tera Melos
X'ed Out

Great surf pop record
Chewed Corners

Solid lush IDM

No question too much hype but it was pretty good. Certain parts actually reminding me of Godspeed you! Black Emperor
14Jon Hopkins

Best club album of the year, lot of good tracks and well put together.

Great indie Reggae alternative band. Another group Sputnik should hype
12Queens of the Stone Age
...Like Clockwork

I respect them for coming out with a methodical more complex album when every one was expecting a rocker. They still have it.
White Lighter

The album with the most emotion. They have a big sound that mixes a number of elements. The thing I like about this album is that they never cover the same ground twice as the album is constantly shifting in new directions from start to end.
Rival Dealer

Just came out a few weeks ago. If it came out earlier probably would have been in my top 5. Burial never dissapoints, great slight change in direction on this one.
9Oneohtrix Point Never
R Plus Seven

Most creative album of the year, constantly evolving, a great find for me this year.
8Dawn of Midi

This is the kind of album Sputnik should be hyping. A 3 piece (Piano, Bass and Percussionist) who developed this hypnotic blend of acoustic dance music. It is even cooler than it sounds.
7Kayo Dot

Unique album, lot of praise on this site and deservably so. This album probably has the best string of songs to close out an album.
6 John Brown's Body
Kings and Queens

The best future roots reggae on the planet. Another strong album, check out their last 3 albums Pressure Points, Amplify and this if you looking for some new Reggae to get into

Everyone who was expecting Sounds Awake 2 was dissapointed. I just listened to this again this morning and it has grown on me quite a bit. We are is one of their best songs of all time.
4The Ocean

Metal purists don't like this album but I say Fuck you as this is probably the best executed album this year, the musicianship is flawless. The vocals are not the best but you must admit there are parts when he nails it.
3 Boards of Canada
Tomorrow's Harvest

This is high ranking is more of a nod to the rest of their past catalog which I discovered this year as well, still a solid album and hope they don't make us wait another 6 years until their next one.
2Cult of Luna

Something about how they mix two drummers and how they go from quiet to dropping the hammer with serious riffs within seconds.

First time I listened to Autechre was through Exai. First time I heard the album I almost didn't consider it to be music at all, just a bunch of random beats and sounds. However the more I listened, the more it blew my mind and made me rethink the limitations of most music I had listened to previously. These guys are way ahead of their time bending and shaping music in a way that I find totally fresh and intriguing. Hands down my AOTY
