12.23.13 | It was a show that didn't know how to quit while it was ahead. It was a 2 season show spread out into 4, thus making it a ridiculous mess. All though, I did enjoy season 4, dispite it be completely stupid.
A real shame, because if it had been just 2 seasons, it could have been an absolute banger. |

actors are so much fucking far behind writers as far as importance goes to television. the best writers come to TV because it affords them the flexibility to use more detail, and to enrich the telling of a story over a longer period of time.
the best actors on TV are here because they couldn't break into movies (yet) or they were not doing so great in movies so they get sent down to tv to work on their mass appeal.

Not true. Explain Steve Buscemi, and Ron Perlman then. Both phenomenal actors but did great in movies. And many great actors on tv(or were on tv) didn't even try to get into movies. For instance, Evangeline Lilly was in nothing before Lost. So your metaphor was not perfect. Who cares about how they got into the show. Our point is that lots of the big serialized or character drama shows that we know like Mad Men has better acting than lots of movies. |

Steve Buscemi is a beloved character actor. When he took boardwalk, he would never be cast as the lead in a movie. Ron Perlman is also a beloved character actor. Unlike Buscemi, he was given the lead in a franchise, although it was a low-profile, genre affair. While I love the Hellboy flicks, they didn't really make Perlman a coveted leading man.
FOCUS ON THIS PART: Neither of these guys, despite being awesome, are leading men in movies. They can anchor a tv show, though, because TV shows like Boardwalk and Sons are sold on story-telling... not their casts.

Thanks for calling it stupid because you didn't understand it. You said that lots of tv actors go to tv because they couldn't make it big in movies. My point is she was a fantastic actress in Lost despite the fact that she didn't have any other notable acting experience.
And speak for yourself about Sons. Almost every actor including Charlie Hunam, Theo Rossi, Katey Sagal, Maggie Siff, Ron Perlman, Jimmy Smits are masterful with their parts. |
