The Election Was So Gay

Last's night's election was gay as fuck. And I mean that in the best possible way. Gay marriage was passed in Maine, Maryland, and Washington. A constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage failed in Minnesota. Tammy Baldwin became the first openly gay U.S. Senator. And the list goes on! So here are some bands with members who would be celebrating the victories from last night.
1Bloc Party
Silent Alarm

Kele Okereke only came out recently, but their lyrics have always given clues. I've
always interpreted "Plans" as a song about a man trying to get his boyfriend to come
out of the closet.
2Sigur Ros

Jónsi's boyfriend, Alex, is from my home county in Maryland.
3Vampire Weekend
Vampire Weekend

Rostam Batmanglij is the keyboardist for Vampire Weekend, and one half of
4Grizzly Bear

The name of the band comes from a nickname for one of Ed Droste's ex-boyfriends.
Turn It Up Faggot

Brandon Cox identifies as gay, but considers himself asexual.
6The Magnetic Fields
Love At The Bottom Of The Sea

The only girl I've ever loved was Andrew in drag.
7Perfume Genius
Put Your Back N 2 It

The ads for this album featured Mike Hadreas being cradled by a gay porn star. The
video for Take Me Home features Hadreas strutting down the street in a football
jersey and hot pink pumps. You work those heels, Hadreas.
8Xiu Xiu
Dear God, I Hate Myself

Jamie Stewart came out as bisexual in Free Williamsburg.
