This DVD is a great item for any Rush fans, old or new. It shows 3 classic concerts; Exit Stage Left in 1981, Grace Under Pressure in 1986 and A Show of Hands in 1988. Each DVD comes with a miniature version of the concert tour books that were avaliable at the time of the concerts. Not to mention an unreleased music CD of the Grace Under Pressure concert.
Exit Stage Left shows Rush at the top of their game with classics such as Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Xanadu and many others. It shows Neil Peart in his glory with his Rosewood Tama's with the full percussion department behind him. YYZ is only on this DVD for a minute or 2, which is a pity because it shows Neil going straight into his drum solo. Great concert none-the-less.
Grace Under Pressure is a great concert that shows Rush performing the timeless songs that were on the CD of the same name. This is the first and only time that the Fear trilogy (The Enemy Within, The Weapon, Witch Hunt) was played and recorded to be put on CD and DVD. This is also the first concert recorded to show Peart and his 360-Degree drum set with the electronics. Great concert overall.
A Show of Hands isnt a concert for the fans who only like the big hits. It showcases some songs that werent as popular like Mission, Marathon, Territories and others. There is however a medley of 2112/La Villa Strangiato/In the Mood. It also shows Peart doing a drum solo called The Rhythm Method. There are a few parts that wont be seen much like Alex Lifeson breaking a string or a joke warning during La Villa while Alex was mumbling into the shut off microphone.
The Grace Under Pressure concert CD has every song that was played on the concert, plus 3 others that were recorded at other concerts.
Overall, this is a great DVD to have if you like the Canadian Prog Rock trio.
